Sweet Surrender

It doesn't mean much
It doesn't mean anything at all
The life I've left behind me
is a cold room
I've crossed the last line
from where I can't return
Where every step I took in faith
betrayed me
and led me from my home

And sweet surrender
is all that I have to give

You take me in
no questions asked
You strip away the ugliness
that surrounds me
Are you an angel?
Am I already that gone?
I only hope
that I won't disappoint you
When I'm down here
on my knees

And sweet surrender
is all that I have to give

Sweet surrender
is all that I have to give

And I don't understand
the touch of your hand
I would be the one to fall
I miss the little things
I miss everything about you

It doesn't mean much
It doesn't mean anything at all
The life I've left behind me
is a cold room

And sweet surrender
is all that I have to give

Sweet surrender
is all that I have to give

It's a rainy day here ...but I love the way the flowers look after a rain - don't you?

I Will Remember You by Sarah McLachlan

[via Utrecht / I Will Remember You / Sarah McLachlan]

I Will Remember You Lyrics

I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

Remember the good times that we had?
I let them slip away from us when things got bad
How clearly I first saw you smilin' in the sun
Wanna feel your warmth upon me, I wanna be the one

I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

I'm so tired but I can't sleep
Standin' on the edge of something much too deep
It's funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word
We are screaming inside, but we can't be heard

But I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

I'm so afraid to love you, but more afraid to loose
Clinging to a past that doesn't let me choose
Once there was a darkness, deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had, oh you gave me light

And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

And I will remember you<
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Weep not for the memories

Visit from the kids...

Today was mostly a gloomy day- except for one unexpected pleasure...a visit from a grandson - (Dan) a granddaughter (Allison) and a daughter!(Tina)

...It doesn't take a lot to make me happy... :)

I took a picture of the 3 of them.

Our Saturday

Today we went for a ride on the Victory- the first time in several weeks. Here we are about to leave from home.

It started out fun and didn't feel too hot at all...but by the time we had been out for a couple hours we both realized we had, had enough!
Too hot!!

Here we are riding! :) Good thing I'm not concerned with fancy hair-dos-I'd be in big trouble! LOL!

We did have a nice breakfast and the time riding was fun...but just too dang hot!!
Here we are, about to leave for the trip home, after having breakfast at Golden Corral in The Villages. (This is about 25 miles south of us.)

We're looking forward to cooler weather! Just a couple more months...maybe!!

We're both thankful that we are still able to ride!

'Knock on wood!!'

... Speaking of which...

Look at my backyard visitors yesterday!!

This is the Pileated Woodpecker- not often seen around our little spot here! I was thrilled to have seen them and to have got the pictures-tho they are not great! I was afraid to try to get any closer so had to zoom in!

Here is a website about this bird!

Enjoy!

Country scenes we love!

Charles and I both love all things country (in scenery) and all things OLD! Old barns have always been favorites ...also sunflowers...cows...horses...fields of wildflowers (any and all kinds) ...old houses... old tractors and trucks...old folks too! :)

To end my Alabama posts I want to share a few more country scenes we enjoyed this trip. It was raining the times we were out, as some of the pictures will show!

~~~Through the eyes of Junie Rose~~~
The old cotton shed still stands!
Go here for a story from my husband's childhood, concerning this old log building!
...and here!
Note:
The white flowers are 'Queen Anne's Lace', a wild flower that grows in meadows and along roadways, throughout Alabama. I always associated it with Alabama but my search tells me this plant grows in every state in the USA and much of the world!
This is an interesting website with lots of info about Queen Anne's Lace!
~~~

The purple flower also grows wild in this area. This is the Passion Flower, also known as May-Pop. It has edible fruit. I remember finding these on walks with my mom when I was a young girl and eating the sweet fruit!

Here is a website about this plant!

Enjoy Life!

Another nephew!

OK- I can't leave out another of my nephews-on MY side of the family!

This is Gary Lee, my brother's youngest son! He just became a grandpa for the 4th. time...and says he's gonna have his grandkid's names tattooed on his arm!
Nope ! Not this one...Will have to be the other side! This arm is taken up with this guy!

Gary is a motorcycle guy and he was fixin' to go for a ride with his Brother-in-law when they stopped by to see us.

Wish we could go for a Victory Ride with him someday!

More family times... (for the family)

The biggest gathering of the Kellum connected Clan was on Saturday.
Several who didn't make the Friday night gathering were there on Saturday!
It turned out to be a beautiful day, after a few early morning showers!

The past several years we have been having this reunion at a very nice community center. It's very roomy, clean and nicely decorated and painted-and with a fully equipped kitchen. And -best of all -air conditioned! This is a real PLUS for a July in Alabama!

Our Friday nights have recently been held at a church ...which also is very nice and comfortable and right next door to one of C's sisters; making it very handy, indeed! Folks visit with Eva - help prepare snacks- etc- then when it's time, gather up the goodies and just walk the short distance to the church next door!

It was suggested that we might want to change the time of year of having this reunion...Some dates were suggested-and it was decided it would be in November next time! ...Well... I thought-OK- Nov. of 2008! LOL- NO! They meant starting THIS Nov 8th. Not sure we can make a trip again that soon! I was - sort of- hoping for a trip to see the leaves in NC again in late October! ;( We'll see what happens!

Anyway- some pics of the gathering on Saturday-July 21, 2007.

Above:
Charles and me at my brother's house...about to leave for the Kellum reunion~

And the rest were at the gathering~~~

(to the family) I'm sorry - I've missed a few people again!
