Another good day! AND ** UPDATE AT BOTTOM**

~~Update~~~ VIDEOS ADDED at bottom of post~~

Well-this day turned out to be a good one, as we had visits from some of the kids! Zach came up from Orlando and Alli, Tina and Chris were here!

We threw together a dinner of Chicken on the grill, baked potatoes, corn on the cob and sliced tomatoes! It was very good!

Alli and Zach had their usual fun/silly times together! They are still like kids when they come here! :) ...Makes me happy!!

I made a few pics! (Of course!) And Alli is working on some very short vids I got of them with the guitar! I may post some of those later...but for now I give you these!

My 2 youngest 'grands'- Allison and Zachary!

Enjoy,

Butterfly Poem

Butterfly

On my walk today,
I saw a butterfly.
Delicate and free,
I watched it flutter by!
Flitting here and there,
to sample Nature’s best.
Constantly in motion-
determined in it’s quest
to find the sweetest nectar;
though it didn’t linger long.
Elusive, this must be,
for it paused for just a moment,
then was gone.

Like a butterfly,
my thoughts flit here and there.
…returning always, to the sweetest nectar-
memories of you .

Today's Update!

The medical procedure went very well for Tina today and we were all back home before noon. The upcoming surgery in about 3 weeks will be a much bigger thing, requiring a long surgery and a few days in hospital. We're all hoping and praying it will go well for her! Have to trust it will!!

I was up at 4:00 AM- after only about 3 hours sleep last night...needless to say I was very tired all of this day. Took a short nap- after my big ordeal with my blog template!! :) I'm just gonna leave all that be until I feel more up to the task of figuring things out again! :) And that may never happen!

~~~
I got a really neat package from my friend Bonnie today! (that Reno girl, you know!)
She recently went to see Chris Isaak in concert and got me this signed T-shirt! :)
Also sent a lot of pictures of the show-and some vid clips too!
~~And some sunsets!~~ OH!! And a Chris Isaak cd and video!
...and some extra surprises too...a cute figurine of a boy fishing with his dog- and a Beanie Babies poodle pup!
~~~
Now!! What do you do with someone this generous?? I'll have to think of something real good to repay her!
~~~
This Chris Issak video is very good! He's tops in crooning those love songs! Sort of has the style of Roy Orbison.
And he's very cute too!!
WELL!! He is!! :)
Here's a website that has lots of info about Chris Isaak!
Some vid clips here too!
And this!
Warning:
Very 'steamy' video - but a great song!!
Enjoy!
I'm not touching anything again!! ONLY very basic blogging for Junie Rose from now on!
( Or- unless/until I become a lot smarter than I am now!!!) :( Not likely!!
This has given me a giant headache!
Very frustrated!!!
What's happening now AND (The Real June)
I got an email from a blog friend and in answering her decided to post what I had to say on the blog too- to bring everyone up to date with what's happening with us here!
~~~TO ALL ~~~

(and Diane)

Diane,

You sound a little summer weary, as I am! It's been a very hot one here!

My weeding in the garden has gotten completely out of hand...plus a lot of other problems that I can't do a lot about. My little sick dog for one. (I should have the courage to let her go... but I haven't found it yet!)

Also- I have some personal health problems added and new meds that I have to start on. I need to lose wt. and get myself in better shape so I don't need these BP meds!! Can't afford them!!
...And we have to have a very early rising tomorrow to go with our daughter to hospital in Gainesville... 45 minutes from us. (kidney stint change and she still has surgery in near future for the kidney problem! This procedure tomorrow is out patient-and not a very serious thing...but the surgery will be more serious.

Anyway, have to get up and out of here by 4:30 in the morning so will have to make an early night of it here!

Hope you don't mind if I go ahead and post this on my blog as well as sending it to you. Then anyone interested will know what's going on with me at this time!

Take care,

((HUGS))

~~~
Also~ as promised I will let the secret out about the ' Real 11 year old June ' in the picture!
I was a little bit surprised that there were several answers given! lol- I guess it's not that easy to match this 66 year old face to that 11 year old face! :)
Several of you did guess right , though, and some had the Real me as the #2 choice!!
OK-OK!!
Junie Bug is 4th. from the left.(as you look at the picture) The girl in the sailor dress! lol- and the little blue lamb pin on the collar!! :) HAHAHA! I liked that little lamb a lot! I guess I didn't mind that it didn't exactly go with that dress!
Thanks, all, for looking and guessing!
My music tonight !
I bought this CD today and I am listening to it right now!!
I really like this band!
( Can you tell?? :) )
This one has 16 songs with only 5 that are on the other CD I bought!
Great songs! I wanted to put a YouTube on of one of them but I can't get it to work!
~~~But you just
have to search out "Romeo and Juliet!"~~~ Really, really good song!

OHHH!!! Look at that! I got it on! :)

And here's a live version!

I love this song! Which version do you like best?

~~~
I will update my last post - tomorrow- and the Real June will be identified!
:) Thanks for guessing - all you girls!
The Real Me
Can you see the real me? Can you - can you?
Hint:
I am on the front or middle row! hahaha!
And please don't mistake me for that prissy old teacher! :) Can't remember her name...I keep thinking ..."Mrs.Smith?"...Oh well...I DO remember I didn't like her much.
( I was new to the school- very shy -very poor - very insecure . Not a happy little school girl in those days.)
This was 5th. grade - 1952
The girl I am sitting next to became my very best friend for the next few years. Her name was Annie! SO-things got better for me.
Oh! Where have all those girls and boys gone! I remember almost all the names but have kept in touch with just a few!
I heard Annie passed away last year and it made me very sad because we hadn't kept in touch!
Well, this is sad and I wonder what brought me down this road tonight. Sometimes the past has a way of bringing me down...
~~~

Anyway... can you pick me out of the group- using the hints I just gave you?

~~~
My Secret Self
No one knows my secret self.
No one sees within my heart.
The public me is on display.
The secret me, I keep apart.
The public me may wear a smile,
and none can see she’s in disguise.
The secret me may bare her soul,
though no one sees her when she cries.
Sunday News- (Farm and music and a visit)
Just after dinner last night my guys settled down to watch the football game- Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. My guys (husband and son) have always been, and will forever be, Dolphin fans! They became big fans in the early days-(when the Dolphins were new and my son Chris was just a kid ) and would go to a lot of games together during the years we lived in Miami!
Lol- I remember when the Dolphins returned from their Superbowl win against Washington Redskins (14-7) in 1973- after that fantastic 17-0 winning season of '72- we went to the airport in the middle of the night to join with, probably, hundreds of other fans to welcome them back home! It was an enthusiastic group of fans as I remember- with Charles, Chris and me, as exuberant as any of the others! Those were happy times! :)
...so-anyway-my guys are still big football fans and watch as often as they can. I'm not much of a fan these days.
~~~
While they watched the game I was into some music listening- which is among my favorite things to do these days!
...It was decided Pink Floyd would again be the star of the night! :) Ended up playing 'The Wall' AND 'Dark Side of the Moon!'

Great music - though depressing lyrics! It's true! Still, I'm often drawn to the music! It's all part of the music history that I am compelled to explore! ;) It's part of my mission!

And ~ I had a great time- thank you very much!!

~~~
Today was a bit sad as Charles had decided to take 3 calves to the market for tomorrow's auction! So- goodbye Cloud #9, Gypsy Rose, and Silver Bell! With the little girl calves I can manage to not feel TOO bad , as I imagine them being bought just for breeders! WELL...it could be true, ya know!! I hope so!
Here they are:
~~~

A little later in the day our granddaughter, Alli, came by to visit. Tina was working and Alli had the car and would pick her mom up after work in the late afternoon. Alli stayed for a nice, long, visit. We had snacks and cokes and coffee and lots of chit-chat! Also she showed me some little things I needed to know about blogging-picture sizing- etc!
(just things that grandkids know and Gingas don't know!)

~~~
Oh! And we looked at some Youtubes of her favorites - 'Plain White T's'. She showed me this vid of TOM doing a Beatles tune!
Pretty good, I say!
:) AND we made pictures while our girl was here, too!
Later we made plans to meet the girls at Shells for dinner!
Excellent!
All things considered it
has been a good weekend for us!
Hope yours was good too!
A rainy day again...
...but the music listening of last night has left this day wrapped in the warm remembrance of it's golden glow!
Dire Straits!
Have you ever experienced something that is just ...sooo goood... you want to share it with everyone you know! That's the way I feel about the music of Dire Straits! :) I can't imagine anyone hearing it and not loving it !
LOL! Just had to say that-although I have said it before!... (over flowing here in my music experiences of last night-AND today!) There's a lot on Youtube to enjoy!
~~~

We're going out for dinner- I know not where- but it doesn't matter as it means no cooking for the old girl here! That's always nice!

Back later!

Name Meme

Hi folks,

I decided to do the name meme Pea sent me yesterday!

Rules:
Write 8 of your blog friends' names in a unique way and post them. You must write the blogger's name that tagged you, then add 7 others. Be creative .
( It's a fun thing , but do it only if you wish to!)

~~~
OK- I decided to use some of my photos to link with some of my blog friends...I put names to the photos that remind me of each blogger! :) I got a little carried away with the project and added one more blog friend than was requested!
~~
Pea~
The little faerie fits her! We both have faerie gardens this summer! ;)
Mr. Eddie~
He has often mentioned his fig tree so this picture made me think of him!
Jeanette~
Plant lover in Australia who has Stag Horn ferns just like we do!
Hootin' Anni~
She often posts picture of her walks along her Texas coast, so this picture of gulls reminded me of her.
Joy~
This picture fits Joy very well. She's a joy to read- especially her poems!
Morning Glory~
She's a lover of sunrises and sunsets, just as I am. This is especially for MG!
Merle~
Dear Merle once showed a rose that might be this very same one that I have! Anyway- Merle deserves roses so this one is especially for her!
Skye~
This picture is for Skye- not only because her name fits so well but also because I wish for only blue skies in her life.
Tammy ( Early Bird)~
Not sure why I chose this for Tammy other than Tammy shares her name with my daughter (And I first saw this unique plant at my daughter's house!)
And I know Early Bird-Tammy likes flowers! :)
Enjoy!
All of these bloggers are on my side bar!
Please visit them when
you have a chance.
Love,
Junie
Thanks, Pea!
I got this from Pea this morning!
And here is the deal... ( read below)
I'll have to give this some thought-a LOT-probably!
Not sure if I have that much creativity in me! :)
~~~

~~Pea says~~

I was tagged by Lori at A Mother's Heart is a Garden of Love and Sarah at My Wonderful Life to do a Name Meme. This is the rules: Write 8 of your blog friends' names in a unique way and post them. You must write the blogger's name that tagged you, then add 7 others. Be creative and if possible use the natural wonders of the world! Well, yesterday I was shelling peas and thought...hmmmm, why not have fun with them and do the meme using peas!! Of course PEA would have to use peas, eh? LOL

~~~
Thanks, Pea!
I'm very 'Peased' with this! :)
Claw Hammer Bluegrass-IBMA
A few days ago, my husband, excitedly, brought to my attention a story in our local paper- Ocala Star Banner!
Seems we have a celebrity in our area!
( Well- yah- there's John Travolta!!)
And then there's this bluegrass-banjo picker-Mark Johnson-who has been nominated for the IBMA ( International Bluegrass Music Association) award for his latest CD, "Acoustic Rising," for instrumental album of the year.
Go here!
Mark Johnson, along with his co-star, mandolin player, Emory Lester, are competing against some heavyweights of the business, including the well known and respected Ricky Skaggs. ( read story for other nominees)
These music awards will be presented in Nashville, Tn - Grand Ole Opry - on Oct 4th!
***And I am wishing our local guys well!***
I am not knowledgeable with Bluegrass, but my husband IS and knows of Mark Johnson. He plays the claw hammer style of banjo pickin!' This was the style of the well known
and much admired, 'Grandpa Jones!'
Of course I went searching to find out about Mark Johnson. I didn't find any Youtubes of his music, but did find this website! Lots of interesting info here.
*OHH!!! Just discovered there are music clips of songs on this website!*
( Check out all the links! )
~~~

OK-

One might just assume, since this musician is living here in our area, that he is a local fellow! Bluegrass music IS the music of the south, I always thought! Right??

Imagine my surprise when reading his bio, discovering he is from Yorktown Heights, NY!!

;) I just found that a little bit unusual and amusing!

Aging with humor

Charles asked me a while ago, "Is today Thursday?" And of course I answered, ( I hope , not smugly) "No, Dear, it's Tuesday!" :)
(My computer has the day and time set- so I was sure of it!)

This is not that unusual for either of us- to be mixed up on the days! It happens because all our days are much the same.Week-end days are not much set apart from the rest, either! It comes from not having a set routine in our lives... of not having our days prearranged for us as it was when we had the responsibility of our family...our kids and then our grand kids!

I remember times of sitting in front of schools, waiting to pick up my kids, and thinking,"I've spent half my life waiting in front of schools!!" Then- a few years later I was doing the same with grand kids! I never thought it would be missed after it was all over...these times of waiting ... I was wrong!

Oh, how I miss all of that...when I was needed and my life had some direction!

~~~
I got this in an email from a niece~
1.
Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked, "How old was your husband?" "98," she replied. "Two years older than me." "So you're 96," the undertaker commented. She responded, "Hardly worth going home, is it?"
2.
Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman: "And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?" the reporter asked. She simply replied, "No peer pressure."
3.
I've sure gotten old! I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes. I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends. But, thank God, I still have my driver's license.
4.
I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But, by the time I got my leotards on, the class was over.
5.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
6.
It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.
7.
These days about half the stuff in my shopping cart says, "For fast relief."
Remember:
You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing.
***Did I post this before? I don't remember!***
Thanks!
Hi Folks,
I just want to say thanks for all of your encouraging comments and suggestions (also to Skye for her emails) concerning the upsetting events of yesterday with my anonymous visitor.
After thinking about it I've decided I don't want to alter my receiving of comments after all...because many members of the family read the blog, who aren't registered.
...ALSO- This is MY BLOG and I am not going to be intimidated by someone behind an anonymous name. I enjoy blogging and will continue until I decide it's time to quit!
Anyone who has read my blog at all knows I am not out to say bad things or do bad deeds against anyone.
I'm sorry this person took a story of fiction in such a way...but it's his/her problem- not mine!
Thanks!
Harassment
Some stupid spammer jerk has chosen to harass me over a post my husband wrote almost a year ago...about the 'Harley Rider!' Anyone who read it, I'm sure, recognized it as a story of fiction - along the lines of Victory vs Harley Davidson! (as you know, we have a Victory and enjoy riding) The story was meant to be a fun thing...not something to enrage Harley Riders!
For the record, my husband was a Harley Rider as a motorcycle policeman in Dade Co, Miami.
Not to say we would never own a Harley, but it just so happens we enjoy the Victory we have - a lot!
This little story was just a Victory vs. Harley- rivalry thing! An imaginary encounter my husband had with a guy riding a Harley and he ( my husband) on his Victory! A FUN thing, for cripes sake!! Not something to get people bent all out of shape!!
I have removed the original post and all comments...after some vaguely threatening undertones in this 'Anonymous' person's comments to me! For one... his saying..."have a good day in 'OCALA, FLORIDA!" And reminding me that you never know who might take offense , reading that story! And that a LOT of info can be found on my site here!
(Obviously, no one took offense- since it has been close to a year since I posted it!... Except this person hiding behind his anonymous screen!)
After removing all posts and comments concerning that story and the exchanges with this person, I now find he is posting on Other of my Victory posts of our rides!
This is the latest one:
~~~
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "The Victory ...etc...":

i do so love the bird nest in the helmut...fitting

toodles

~~~~
Whatever happened to our freedom of speech ? Can a person not have a preference of one item over another without someone taking offense?
Now-I'm starting to be paranoid about everything I have put here! Will someone take offense because I have said I'd rather live here than anywhere I have been...or that I prefer chicken over beef...or that FALL is my favorite season! Will someone call me an idiot because I like to watch sunsets and grow roses??
I need to get Anonymous comments turned off ( or on- whatever!) but couldn't figure out how to do it. Can anyone advise me!
~~~Is this the dangers of which we've all been warned, about the Internet?~~~

My pretty bed

OK ~ got my bed set up yesterday and the room, pretty much in order today!

As the pictures show, we turned both beds with headboards in front of the bow-type windows and the window shelf. There was no other way to fit them both in there...however - I rather like the way it looks. I used that window seat to display some plants (behind the beds) and they will have plenty of sunlight there in front of the windows. The doll case is in the center of the window shelf- with the 2 beds to either side of it! (about 3 feet between the beds)

Only one problem...and I bet you just knew there would be one or two!! LOL-

Well...the problem is that the bed is SOOO high I can barely climb up on it! SOOO high I can't even get a knee up there to hoist myself up! haha-REALLY!! (It measures 33 inches! It reaches me at about my waist! I have to use a stepping stool to get in that bed!! ( As you can see in the pictures, my bed is an old iron bed; built high off the floor! Tomorrow we will look for a shorter mattress box. ( you know- the part that fits under the mattress!). This one is over 8 inches high so if I could find one a few inches shorter it would solve the problem!

I slept on the bed last night and found it very comfortable...except for my fear of falling off during my sleep! Yikes!! Wouldn't it be just my luck to fall off that high bed and break an arm or a leg!! :( ...Or hit my head and make myself more addle-brained than I already am!! ;)

Well- I have to say it all looks pretty, at least!

The cover on my bed is a hand made quilt I bought from my (late) Aunt Netta. We bought 2 for us and one for each of our kids. I love my quilts but had never used them until now. And I will just use this as a top cover and not as a quilt to sleep under! I want to always keep it pretty!
I'm so glad I have these from my dear aunt!

~~~
Today was a long one here for Charlie and me! I have been sad and going back and forth in my decision regarding my little dog, Sadie. The thing is I feel she is still getting some joy out of her life and I don't know if I'm ready to face bringing that to an end for her. She still eats well and she still goes outside ...she still likes to be right by my side...
Something will happen soon...
Allison and Sadie
Allison came up today to see Sadie .
A friend told me about this beautiful 'Moody Blues' song.
I just found it on Youtube!
~~~

Candle of Life

Something you can't hide
Says you're lonely
Hidden deep inside
Of you only
It's there for you to see
Take a look and be
Burn slowly the candle of life

Something there outside
Says we're only
In the hands of time
Falling slowly
It's there for us to know
With love that we can go
Burn slowly the candle of life

So love everybody
And make them your friend
So love everybody
And make them your friend

Something you can't hide
Says you're lonely
Hidden deep inside
Of you only
It's there for you to see
Take a look and be
Burn slowly the candle of life

Something there outside
Says we're only
In the hands of time
Falling slowly
It's there for us to know
With love that we can go
Burn slowly the candle of life

Mission Impossible...

Facing a
, seemingly, impossible mission of de-cluttering my house, (and zooming in on the books at this stage) a favorite TV show of the 60s came to mind!

Oh!! I loved that show!!
Look here!

I thought Peter Graves was just the coolest guy ever!

:)

Well...he was!

~~~~
...your mission... if you choose to accept it... is to reduce this collection of books by at least one half.... good luck,
Junie Rose...
~~I wonder...will my house self-destruct if I fail?~~
( Wish me luck!)
