This Is Me

  My granddaughter Alli and her life-long friend, Liz,  always have fun when they get together! Here they are doing, 'This IS ME', from 'Camp Rock!'  :)

LOL!  Oh, to be a teenager again!
 ... But, I don't remember ever having that much fun when I was  this age!

(You can see other vids they have done by  going to youtube from this video)

Luke Bryan

This is a new country music discovery for me! :) Yah! I know ~ country is not usually my #1 choice in music...but there's something about this guy that just appeals to me in a big way!!

I think -MAYBE- part of it is that he reminds me of my grandson, Brian! :)

This song is one that a lot of folks from the 'south/country' can relate to!

I think this young man will go far in the country music business! He has a good sound-PLUS-he looks good!! What do you think?

Thanksgiving Day~2008 (for family)

It was a good day for me because the family was together once again.
(Everyone was here except Marc-my son-in-law. I was sorry he couldn't make it home.)

Our dinner turned out fine. With our guests bringing some side dishes and desserts, it made it easier.

I've been having trouble with my camera lately (the battery charger, I think) so I didn't get a lot of pictures of our day; LOL- but I
DID get the Big Bird!

...And - the banana pudding!

...And~ Harvest Loaves and Pecan Pies!

Our guests:

My daughters, Tammy and Tina,
Zach(grandson) and his girlfriend,Ashley,with Alli,(granddaughter),
Brian and Dan(grandsons) with Chris (my son)
Terry (son-in-law)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sweet Give-a-Way!

Oh, my goodness!

...Speaking of 'sweet' give-a-ways... look at this!!

My friend PEA is having a drawing for a sampling of her homemade chocolates!!

I have been drooling over these chocolates for 3 years now... :) so of course I left a comment for a chance of winning this yummy gift! All you have to do to have a chance to win is to visit Pea and leave a comment for her.

I know I just cut down my chance of winning - lol- but what are friends for? :)

Visit Pea! You'll like her blog- even if you don't win her chocolates! I sure do! :)

I WON!!

My friend Donna, at Made in Heaven, recently had a 'give -a-way' drawing for a couple neat things!

I don't often win these give-a-ways that my blog friends have but I got lucky this time!! :)

Here are the prizes I won! They arrived on Friday! I LOVE getting packages! I'm like a little kid in that way! :)

Here's what I got...this cool Goose Berry Patch cookbook and the little natural grass place mat! The mat is just perfect for my little turkey planter to sit on! :) It's just the colors I would have picked, too!

Thanks Donna-I love them both-and also the pretty card you enclosed!

~~~
I have things to do tonight so I will make this post short!
Hope you all have a good night.
Happy Day!
Oh! What a happy day we've had!
The following pictures will tell you why!
First, though, let me show you the 2 perfect Harvest Loaves I made late last night! These are a tradition in our family at Thanksgiving and Christmas!
:) I have been doing these holiday loaves for more years than you can imagine! When I find something I like I stick with it! :)
My sis and I both do these cakes every year...both our families expect them!
( LOL- Demand them- even!)
For the recipe go here-AGAIN!
~~~

This is the reason our day was happy... we got to see 3 of our grand kids and our daughter today!

Tina and Alli came up first.

I had asked Alli up to help me change my header ...to get us all ready for Turkey Day! :) I have trouble with computer things which my girl just breezes through...but that's beside the point-LOL- and nothing new to anyone here! ( But- luckily, I have Alli to help me out when I need it!)

OK- A little later our grandsons (Dan and Brian) walked in and it was completely unexpected! They live in Gainesville (a 45 minute drive from us) and we don't see them so often!

Charles, in his usual witty way said....(are you ready for this???) ....he said, "You guys are a 'sight for sore eyes!" LOL- Well,' I ' thought it was very funny - under the present circumstances!! ;)

Here we all are today- except for Tina and my son Chris- who didn't want to be in the pictures!

OK~ About that BMW motorcycle... Brian is buying it from us! He went through a drivers program to learn to ride! Charles says he rides well. I wasn't brave enough to even watch him drive out of the yard today! He won't take it just yet but will have a few more rides with Charles riding our Victory with him... before he's on his own with it.

I've promised Bri I will not worry...and... I will give it my best shot to keep that promise!

As you see in the pics, Charles' eyes are looking better. He still needs to apply the ice packs, though. I know it has been painful but I think he'll be fine in a few more days.

That was our day- a good one!

Hope you all had a happy day, too!

Honey Bells!

Juice!

Yah~ I got it done!

It's delish!!

Note: Charles is feeling better today and the swelling around the eyes has gone down, some! He'll be back to normal soon, I think! Cool! I was wondering if I could pull that Thanksgiving dinner off , on my own! :) Now it looks like I'll have my usual help in the kitchen next week!

~~~
I'm feeling better today, also, after being up later last night and sleeping a little later this morning! That way seems to work better for me! I don't like it when I wake up before 6:00! Late nights are my time for relaxation - usually with music! Last night was especially good and I ended the night with my favorite LOUD Rock band - THE WHO!
The best ever!
~~~

Got to get going and get some stuff done...Tonight I will need to do some baking of goodies!

Have a great day!

Doctor My Eyes (post # 2 for today-check below for #1)

My son Chris, after seeing his dad's eyes today said, "Mom, do you know what dad's favorite song is right now?"

LOL- of course I'm not quick enough for figuring out Chris' weird jokes, usually....so...
lol- I said something like..."I don't know- maybe Those Eyes...or Behind Blue Eyes..." :) But he said, "No- It's DOCTOR MY EYES!!"

:) And it made perfect sense!

....Except it can't be his favorite song for real because Chas. does not like Jackson Browne ! :) He did take me to see him in concert once, tho! Jackson Browne has been a favorite of mine since the 70's! I loved it - C. hated it!!

:)

:) Yes- we in this family, DO INDEED, have a strange sense of humor between us!

Charles is such a good sport he even said I could put this picture on of his poor eyes!

He Probably just wants all the folks to see how bad it looks! :)
(all the family members who read the blog)

He
could well be singing...'Poor, Poor Pitiful Me!'

I'll not worry as long as he doesn't start to sing....'Knockin' On Heaven's Door!'

P.S.
I know it looks bad but I guess no more than would be expected!

He'll be fine in a few days.

(just some reflections)

Hi Folks!

Hi Folks,

It's a bright and beautiful day here, tho on the cool side. I love this kind of weather and wish we could be out doing something fun! All I can manage to do is walk around the yard a little bit! I did that earlier and got a few pictures.

Trying to fight off this feeling of depression coming on...With the big holiday coming up I have to be able to carry on. I just get the heavy feeling of being overwhelmed by things- physical and mental!

A big part of that is Charles' numerous health issues...and my own, too. I'm always fatigued and don't feel like doing a lot around here! That's bad for someone like me who always wants things-especially holidays- to be perfect!

Charles is out - doing what he says HAS to be done...hauling hay to the cows! In truth the cows could live off grazing the pasture for a few days... I hope he will not get infections in those places on his eyelids! His eyes look real bad, sore and swollen today.

It's hard for people like Charles to face up to poor health issues and realize he needs to slow down!! He has worked hard all of his life and doesn't know how to stop!

He is also facing the next surgery on his face for the skin cancer in early December- unless his eyes are still not healed enough. He may have to set that one up a bit. ...Me??-I had to put off a couple appointments for myself until after the first of the year! There's just too much going on right now for me to deal with anything else!

Also the economy has me worried- and I wish I could be happy- or at least hopeful- with the president we just elected ! I just am not near to that place yet! All you who voted for him-I hope you're right and I am wrong!

~~~
These are a few scenes from my world today!
( Click all photos for a bigger view )
Yes! I am always looking for spiders and their webs when I'm outside. Although this one is not that impressive, I always have fun trying to capture the perfect web! When I can remember to do it I carry a spray bottle of water with me to spray the web and make it stand out better! A friend who does a lot of photography told me of that little trick! :) (Thanks, my blog buddy!) It works well, too, but a lot depends on having the right background behind the web! LOL- Today's situation wasn't ideal but I got the spider and web anyway!
Also-here are the Honey Bells to ring in the season! :) Have to get to that juicing real soon!
I still have some roses...and the Poinsettias are starting to turn red!
These red berry type things are the seed that is left after the Coral Honeysuckle is through blooming! They look very festive for this holiday season, I think!
As always , my old cats are on guard around my yard! These guys are a real pleasure for me!
Hey! Know what?
I just talked myself out of being so depressed!! :)
Yes!
Life is good, isn't it!
Hope you are all having a good day!
Love,
Junie
In My Life... I love you more
For some reason today I have had this CD - and especially this song -on my mind!
I simply love this CD, which was a most treasured gift I received one recent Christmas!
I have been looking at some of the Youtubes that I found online!
I hope you enjoy this version of the beautiful Beatles song ~ this version, performed by Sean Connery.
This whole album is superb! It would be a perfect Christmas gift for someone you love!
Sir George Martin -Friends And Lovers - In My Life
~~~~

In MY life today...

Charles had the surgery at about 9:30 AM. It took about 1-1/2 hours to do it! He's in some pain but has ice packs on both eyes, frequently, to ease the pain and help minimise the swelling. It looks like he may have black eyes, too! Right away, tho, he said he was seeing better- with his lids lifted! :) I hope it helps a lot!

Our appointment seemed early to me - considering that I got only about 5 hrs. of sleep - but we made it ok. Charles was unable to drive himself home so I had to be alert and ready to drive us home.

Since we've been home I haven't done much. I have to be on hand to help him apply the ice packs every few minutes. I hope by tomorrow he will be feeling much better!

I DID go outside for a little while, as i wanted to check on things! The oranges were not damaged. We had a heavy frost but the temps didn't dip as low as predicted!

OH! And I got some neat butterfly pics! I have one of these for my desktop. Feel free to use it for yours- if you like it!

:) ... and here is my frost covered car ~ and some of our beautiful Honey Bells!

Life is grand! Enjoy every minute of it!

Quick post

Hi folks,

Just a quick post tonight...

First~ thanks to all who showed interest in Alli's 'Plain White T's' experience!
Needless to say, she had the time of her life...but then...Alli enjoys ALL the times of her life! :) She's a happy girl!

~~~
Tomorrow is the day for the surgery on my husband's eyelids! We're not looking forward to the ordeal, but just hope it will go well! It will be a major task in keeping him from doing things for the next few days! We'll do the best we can!
~~~

It's supposed to be very cold overnight here...freezing temps!! I hope my Poinsettias don't freeze. I covered them so maybe they will be ok. Also my Honey Bell oranges are about ready for eating! This is early for such cold weather! Got my fingers crossed. It would be a shame to lose the oranges!!

Have a good night- all you bloggers!

Rocking Out-and hanging out- with Plain White T's!!

OK~

This post will wind up Alli's 'Plain White T's' adventure! (OUR adventure, I should say!)

LOL- Alli said, "We are 'milking this' event for all we can!"

...Well~ why not!
Milk Rocks, you know!
:)

Click this link to check out the website that sponsored the contest that Alli won!

~~~
The afternoon at this venue was filled with a whirlwind of activities...and I guess Alli didn't slow down long enough to feel nervous! She seemed to enjoy every minute of it! :) I enjoyed, most of all, just watching her have such a good time!
I said to Tina, "I wish I was Allison!!" She smiled and said, "So do I!!" ;)
~~~

This is a video Tina took as we watched just off stage as the band and Alli did a final sound check and run through of the song she would sing with them later that night!

No~ I have to say she doesn't look the least bit nervous!

NOTE:
A video of the actual performance is in an earlier post. Also, Alli's winning video is on my sidebar.

~~~
Notice (in the vid) the little space just in front of the stage... That is where Tina and I would stand when the actual performance was going on!
Tina and I had 'All Access' passes... so we planned to be as near the stage as we possibly could be during the song Alli would be doing with the band!...Well- when the time came, the security guard there had other ideas and told us we'd have to move behind the barrier! Tina told him, "My daughter is gonna be singing on that stage and I'm not moving! " LOL~ He backed down, saying, "I'm not gonna fight with a Ma-ma!" So we were able to stay there and get our pictures!!~~~
Here are some pictures taken during the performance of the song Alli sang with her favorite band ~ and a few after the show!
So ends THIS adventure of one happy teenager! :)
Love,
Junie
