Ruby Tuesday ~ Sept !, 2009

~~~
~~~

It's Ruby Tuesday again!

Time to share the reds in our lives!

***Go here to find other red posts!***

This is a Ruby Red Hibiscus flower I saw recently at a garden shop here in our town!

It was a huge flower-much bigger than the ones I've grown in the past in south Florida!

I miss those flowers from the south Florida years. We had a lot of them - all colors!

They don't do as well here because of our colder winters, so I didn't buy this one.
I was tempted, though!

Mellow Yellow Monday ( For Aug 31, 2009)

NOTE:

(My Alli and Lucy in post below this one!)

~~~
This is a day when we share the Mellow Yellow things in our lives.
(Go here to find lots more yellow posts! )
Today I'm showing a hanging basket of what I know as
'Moss Rose'
- though I'm sure it has other names, too. It's often used as a ground cover plant .
There are several colors of these small, rose -like flowers.
I like it as a hanging basket and with the different colors planted together!
Alli loves Lucy!
Well, it was very nice seeing our girl yesterday and today for awhile!
She's quite enthused about her classes and has connected with several kids she's known from our town, as well as making new friends!
Also, Zach (our grandson and Alli's cousin) is involved with the Swing Dance club there at UCF. They meet on Wednesdays for instruction and Fridays for the actual dance! :) This is fun for both of my 'kids!' :)
Here is Alli with my kitty!
Victory Ride~8~29~'09
~~~

Well...finally we went for a ride on the motorcycle today! It was my first ride in a long while. For one reason or another I just have not been riding with Charles in months! ( mostly I haven't felt physically up to it lately) Have to say, tho, I did enjoy today's ride very much!

It was a beautiful, blue sky day, with
not a cloud in the sky when we started out!

( as we were leaving home )

We headed out for a Hardee's chicken - biscuit. The only Hardee's left in our town is way out-about a 1/2 hour drive from our place. We went the express way (I-75) and had to roll with the flow of traffic...pretty fast! It was fun and I felt completely safe behind Charles.

We enjoyed our chicken/biscuits and coffee, as we always do. I had just one but C. had more! :)

LOL- It looks like C. is taking his breakfast deal more seriously than me!!

By the time we came out the sky had changed and some dark clouds were showing!

"Utt-ohh!" says Junie Rose!

About that time, too, our daughter called on the cell, saying Alli was coming home for an overnight visit!!
Yaa Hoo! We decided we'd have a dinner at our place for the kids...

K... but we still had our ride ahead...

Not that it was to be a huge deal this time. In the past we have taken all day rides...or 5-6 hour rides, anyway. But I knew I'd not feel like such a long ride, since I had not ridden in awhile!

We rode south, ending up in Summerfield and then Belleview and then on homeward.

Luckily, that dark cloud did not produce rain after all, so we had a very nice ride.

Charles' ultimate destination was this junk yard of old farm tractors and such! He was looking for a Bush Hog type mower implement for cutting the pasture! LOL-Yes-of course he found one!
(He made a trip back with a trailer to get it!)

SO ~ we had Tina,Dan and Bri, Alli- and our son Chris for dinner! Served the BBQ we had in the freezer that we had bought in Alabama! ( :) - made it easy on myself)

Oh~Alli is very excited about her college life unfolding! :) It's a pleasure to see such enthusiasm!

I'm so happy she's close enough to be able to come home as often as she wishes; not every weekend, I'm sure, but often. It was mighty fine seeing our girl today - and we will see her again tomorrow!

It was a good day and one I am thankful for.

Love,
Junie

Time to share our

On any given day I may see dozens of these guys around our place ! (if not hundreds!)

They are everywhere ...even have been known to invade my house at times! I have found them, drowned, in my washing machine! :(

Yesterday my husband accidentally stepped on one as he walked out the front door ! :(

Here was one of the smart ones. He was just hanging out in the rose garden, eating bugs!!

LOL - I guess he knows he's pretty safe from traffic in there, amongst the overgrown weeds that no one is in a hurry to pull!

Welcome to north Florida! ;)

Sisters

My sister's birthday was Aug. 7th. but today was the first chance we've had to get together. :)

...And it was an unplanned event -spur of the moment- but still we enjoyed my sister and Bro-in law's visit! :)

All we had for celebrating was some cookies and coffee...and some good political talk!
(Luckily, we're all on the same page in that !)

Joy liked the gifts I had for her! I got her some comfy socks for wearing around the house...and 2 picture albums for her grand kid's pictures.

I also gave her a book about sisters with the art work of Sandra Kuck. She's the artist who does those very charming children of days gone by! They are often on collector plates!

When our granddaughters were little, Joy and I both bought the same plate by this artist-called 'Tea Party!' The 2 little girls of this piece looked a lot like our little girls! Really! I tried to scan my plate but it didn't turn out very well! :) Anyway, the little blond girl looks like my 'Allison' and the other little girl looks a lot like Joy's 'Cheyenne!'

( Our little girls were best friends in their young years but they don't get to see each other often now!)

BTW- for a better look at this art work, visit Pea-(on my side bar) She has this plate as her header !

Spray cans

...and cooking eggs...

Oh, my goodness! Yer gonna LOL at this...maybe even ROTF!

Yer gonna say,"Poor Junie Rose - she's losing it!"

You might even jump to the conclusion that I'm getting old and senile! :)
(...but you'd be wrong , there!!!! haha!)

~~~
OK~ I have to say my day got off to a bit of a slippery start today.
Let me explain!
I was rushed this morning -knowing I had a whole lot of shopping to do- but I needed to eat a little breakfast before leaving. I thought a fried egg on toast would be just the thing!
I get my fry pan out and go through the routine of spraying lightly with cooking spray. I then put a pat of butter, also, in the center of the pan. (I love eggs fried in butter) I break my egg into the pan-and then break the yolk for the way I like my eggs! (cooked well done)
I quickly turn to the opposite side of the room where my toaster is and drop in one slice of bread!
Suddenly I smell this pleasant but unrecognizable scent...not at all like an egg frying in butter!
I check my egg and it looked like a normal egg starting to cook...but...WHAT the heck!!
Then it dawned on me what happened...and I was immediately laughing out loud at the absurdity of the whole thing!!
I had used this to spray into my fry pan! :) The back side was to me...lol- not the side that boldly said, 'Pledge Wax!'
You see- I had used this to clean my counters last night- but neglected to put it away. It was sitting near the stove sooo...
(Could happen to anyone-RIGHT???)
Funny thing was-I believe that egg would have cooked right on in that spray Pledge wax! :) Smelled heavenly, too!
Don't worry, tho, I threw it out and started over in a fresh pan and with this!
:)
Seeing the 2 cans together you can see they are of similar size...tho nothing alike in color or design!
....but-this was a new brand of cooking spray for me and I was not that familiar with the look of it....
( more excuses)
Oh, well!
(maybe the old girl is losing it!)
Lucy ~ Monday, Aug 24, 2009
Here's Lucy napping on my computer chair!
I guess she thought she'd better take the opportunity while she could because that seat is seldom empty! haha
I liked this so much I'm using it for my screen saver. (for now)
Feel free to use it for yours- if you'd like! Only thing ~ please don't disturb the little girl... as she's resting so well!
Ooops! Sorry, girl!!
Mellow Yellow Monday ~ Aug 24, 2009
~~~

It's Mellow Yellow Monday again!

It's time to share some of the 'Yellows' in our lives!

***Go here to find lots of other yellow pictures!***

This guy that I am showing was once a constant companion to my first grandson, Daniel!

Dan, at age 2-3-4... made up long adventure stories with Curious George, most times, the main character! Often Snoopy and others were along too, on these adventures! And , of course, the stories included Dan himself and ME! (Ginga) :) We had some exciting times in those days - Dan and me and all these guys!

My boy is now grown up, of course...

...but do you know where 'Curious George' lives?

Yep-you got it! He has a special place in my house - and- in my heart!

"It Won't Be Like This For Long" ~ Darius Rucker

~~~
This song was brought to my attention by a friend on Facebook today.
I was so touched-and impressed - I wanted to share it here!
Any parent - or grandparent - can relate to these lyrics.
**Here is some info on this singer!**
Thanks for this Youtube ~
Darius Rucker's new song
It Won't Be Like This For Long
LYRICS:
He didnt have to wake up
He'd been up all nite
Lay'n there in bed listen'n
To his new born baby cry
He makes a pot of coffee
He splashes water on his face
His wife gives him a kiss and says
It gonna be OK
It wont be like this for long
One day soon we'll look back laugh'n
At the week we brought her home
This phase is gonna fly by
So baby just hold on
It wont be like this for long
Four years later bout four thirty
She's crawling in their bed
And when he drops her off at preschool
She's clinging to his leg
The teacher peels her off of him
He says what can I do
She says now don't you worry
This will only last a week or two
It wont be like this for long
One day soon we'll drop her off
And she wont even know your gone
This phase is gonna fly by
If you can just hold on
It wont be like this for long
One day soon she'll be a teenager
And at times you'll think she hates him
Then he'll walk her down the isle
And he'll raise her vale
But right now she's up and cry'n
And the truth is that he don't mind
As he kisses her good night
And she says her prayers
He lays down there beside her
Till her eyes are finally closed
And just watch'n her it breaks his heart
Cause he already knows
It wont be like this for long
One day soon that little girl is gonna be
All grown up and gone
Yeah this phase is gonna fly by
He's try'n to hold on
It wont be like this for long
It wont be like this for long
Sky Watch Friday~ (for-8 ~ 21 ~'09)
~~~

This was yesterday's sky in Orlando, Fl.

We went down there and helped
our granddaughter get moved into her dorm at UCF.

Some of the day was like this ~~~

~~~ but most of the day was like this!
Of course, I preferred the blue sky/white clouds parts of the day! :)
