Are You Happy? Update!

:)

Update on that contest Alli entered awhile back.....

Well...she didn't win the top prize
(tho she should have! ;) )

but she DID win honorable mention!

And for that she got a phone call from the guys in this band and she said it lasted 1/2 hour!

This was after she was already in school in Orlando!

She thought that was very Cool!!

~~

Here's her vid again.
(I came across this one when I was viewing the swing dance one...)

I thought she did a terrific job with this 'Are You Happy' vid!

(you can see other vids she's made by clicking on her screen name at Youtube!

Happy Fall Y'All

( I got this in an e-mail from a niece...Sure hope He gets all the yucky stuff outta me!)

HAPPY FALL Y’ALL!!!

From one pumpkin to another .......

A woman was asked by a coworker, 'What is it like to be a Christian?'

The coworker replied, 'It is like being a pumpkin.' God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.

He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.'

This was passed on to me by another pumpkin. Now it's your turn to pass it to other pumpkins.

Swing dancing with the Beatles! (...and MORE!) Family interest!

This is a vid made yesterday at our house of Alli and Zach ( my 'grand' kids)
- SWING DANCING to the Beatles!

They both belong to a swing dance club in Orlando and are having a ball with it! :)

( of course they were a little bit self conscious, performing in front of the family!)

...But-I LOVE it, Zach and Alli! Thanks!

( Added later )

Here are some other pics of our gathering yesterday. It was a sort of early Birthday celebration for our daughter, Tammy - as we probably won't see her on her birthday Oct 1st!

Here we all are! (minus my son , Chris (who had work obligations) ... and Son-in-law-Marc ( who was not home at this time)

Here is the old 'Antiqued' Ginga
(AKA-Junie Rose)
- on an early morning shopping excursion for goodies for the day! :)

My grands are here

Well-actually they are not here at the moment...but here-there and everywhere is more accurate!

Alli and Zach drove up from Orlando. Alli (as most of you know) is in college there-and Zach lives there too! They drove up together for today and tomorrow. Alli and Zach are my 2 youngest grand kids (as most of you know) and cousins to each other. Alli's brothers, Dan and Brian,have been around today also.

All of this is pleasing to this old grand mother-or 'Ginga' as it is in this case!

Tina got off early and she Alli and Zach have gone out to shop and eat out , probably. The other boys and 2 friends of Dan- and Charles- have gone for some target practice at the shooting range....

This leaves me here doing my thing! :)...actually I have had limited time on the computer with all the folks around ... and all the other things that have been going on the past few days! It's relaxing to be able to sit here and just do my rambling posts...of nonsense and trivia. :) No one reads it anyway-haha- so I'm safe in doing so!

Tomorrow Tammy and Terry will be up also- and we'll have some sort of cook out- or something-Not quite sure just yet-LOL- Don't worry-I'll pull it off!...Have to get a cake and ice cream too- in celebration of my son's birthday just passed- and Tammy's birthday, which is Oct 1st!

OK- Here are some pics from today of my 'KIDS!' Lol- yah- that term really doesn't fit any more, I know- except with me!

This living rm. they are in- this whole house- has seen a lot of years of activity with these 4 kids!

'Lucy' is the big star these days!

My grand kids:

Dan
Bri
Zach
Alli

Bridal shower

We went to the bridal shower for Lauren last night!
It was given by her co-workers at her new place of employment here in Ocala.
They had a very fine little party for her with just a few of the ladies of the office and Joy, myself and Tina, as guests.

Ocala is a new home for Lauren, as she had finished her Masters in south Florida.
She was fortunate to secure a job right away, after graduation- and just where she wanted!

My nephew, Alan, and Lauren's wedding will be in about 3 weeks!

I only got a few pics- and just of the bride-to-be. Lauren was pleased with the gifts she received from everyone. She had already had a shower given by her friends in south Florida, so , hopefully, all of these gifts will help them in the beginning of a new life together !

I wish them both great happiness and success!

Love,
Junie

shopping with the girls

Today was another shopping outing with the girls...my sister Joy and my daughter, Tina!

( These pics are earlier this year:
My sister and me on my birthday in May-at Red Lobster.
My 2 daughters-Tina & Tammy- together at Tammy's house in Orlando.(for Zach's birthday in July)

LOL-
Wedding preparations require a LOT of getting out and about-a lot of walking and looking and deciding...and a lot of returning things for a different size or for a better choice of gift!

It also gives us opportunities to have lunch out with each other! ;) Today we had lunch at my favorite place -'Red Lobster!' I enjoyed it to the fullest- lol- (apt choice of words there.. too!) ;)

The main target of a gift today was a
shower gift for the bride-to-be. We're invited to the Bridal Shower tomorrow night. (Tina and I-and of course my sister ....this will be her son's wife in 3 weeks)

Happy to say -"Mission accomplished!" Gifts selected and festively wrapped and ready!

The shower should be fun tomorrow night!

Have a great night.

Autumn!!!

It's the first day of autumn!

~~~
The header I have put up was taken in the early 70s.
I was visiting my sister, Joy, who lived in Altoona, Pa!
I loved to visit her in the fall and was able to do so a few times during the 12 years she and her family lived there!
WOW! The fall colors were spectacular up there!
:)
I thought it appropriate to 'Antique' this picture!
Moth info for Donna
This is a re-post for Donna...as she had a moth sighting of one that looks similar to one I had posted about in the past. She was asking for info on it so I thought I'd put this on again.
I had seen another moth like this before - except the color was different.
(it was gold-not green)
After seeing this second one I did some searching and found info on these moths.
Donna - I think our moths have to be related-although they are not identical.
Interesting critters-don't you agree?
About Moths!
While looking at the Sky Watch Friday posts I usually will scroll down and look at other posts of each new blog I visit. I figure I will like other things they post if I like their Sky pics! :)
I got a cool surprise when I checked out this post !
I was surprised because, at first glance, I thought this very flashy moth on this site was the same as the ones I had encountered here at our place and had posted about in the past. After looking closer and then comparing it to mine I realized they are not the same. However, both are an impressive sight to see! IMO
The moth (in my world) is this one! Pandora Sphinx
( scroll down the list to find it on this link )
I have written about this moth and posted some pics a couple times previously.
Just a few days ago I found another of these moths in my garage. (Dead) I made some photos of it the day I found it, but left it there.
Today, after seeing the similar moth at this other website, my interest was once again renewed and I bagged the moth for safe keeping! :)
( I collect little things of nature!)
I photographed it again to show the size.
(Sorry this picture is blurred, but you can see the size of this moth!)
Isn't it cool? :)
I think so!
Ruby Tuesday ~ For Sept 22, 2009 Alli and Lucy!
~~~

It's Ruby Tuesday time again!

All summer I have been watching these little Hummers, right outside my kitchen window!
They are amazing little creatures - always entertaining to observe; very competitive - combative, even - at the feeder!

LOL-
And another thing about them...they are very hard to photograph!

This is not great but I'm happy I got it anyway!

~~~
Had some more happy red viewing this weekend, too! Our girl, Alli was home for a little visit-from college in Orlando. Luckily, she had some red in her dress so I can use these pics and be guilt free in this post! ;)
ok-ok- One might get the idea the attraction here was Lucy, the kitty!
That's ok - I STILL got to see her and hug her! Oh! She's missed a lot-that girl!
Love,
Junie
Mellow Yellow Monday ~ 9~21~'09...A stitch in time...
~~~

I saw this spider in my back yard recently! Look at her pretty bright yellow spots! The webs are always intriguing to me...but this one doesn't show up well in this picture!

...except for that zig-zag line down the middle! Looks like someone has taken a darning needle to that web! :)

Reminded me of this!

A stitch in time saves nine.

Meaning:

You use this proverb to say that it is better to spend a little time to deal with problems or act right now than wait. If you wait until late, things will get worse, and it will take much longer to deal with them.

It is often shortened to "A stitch in time." This proverb expresses a similar idea to that of An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Today's Flowers ~ Sept 20, 2009

~~~~
***Click here to find other beautiful flowers around the world***
~~~

My flower this time is a' Night Blooming Cereus'

This flower is unique and very beautiful!

It only blooms for one night...usually late night...and by early morning the bloom is over! Sometimes there are several blooms open together...but often only one bloom at a time over a few weeks in summer!
I always cut that single bloom-as I did this time- and bring it in to enjoy until I go to bed- (at a very late hour!)

My Mom loved these flowers-and the plant I now have was hers.
Many times Mom and I would stay up late to enjoy these blooms together - and now that she's no longer with me- this will always be a treasured flower for me!

*Go here to read about this flower!*

Junie
