Mellow Yellow Monday- ( for Dec 28,2009 )

***

It's time for Mellow Yellow Monday again!

OK-I'm a day late with mine but wanted to share this neat gift I got for Christmas from my son and his wife.

It's a pot for flowers, in the shape of a cup and saucer! I love the wise words on it, too!

My son... always a big joker... said, "Mom, you'll have to figure out some way to fix the hole in the cup so you can drink your coffee!" :)

Well, I decided to put one of my Christmas flowers in it instead! :)
Very pretty!

Flowers for Mom-and a Merry Christmas to all.

***

Late yesterday Charles and I finally were able to take out some Christmas flowers for my dear Mom.

I usually like to have these for her earlier in the month of December but this time has been an especially hectic and worrisome time for me and I have not been able to do all the things I've wished I could!

My unselfish and sweet mom would say, "Honey, don't worry about it! You try to do too much!" Oh, how I miss my mom - especially at this time of year.

~~~
Last night I finally got my 'Magic Cookie Bars' made. These have long been a favorite of my family, along with the Harvest loaf and Banana pudding!
...I usually have my goodies made and stashed in the freezer weeks ahead of time...but - as I said - this time has been different! Oh well, we do what we can...
"It is what it is!"
Later - after my treats were made and cooling- I did a music listen of Dan Fogelberg's " The First Christmas Morning." That is the most beautiful Christmas album!! One good friend and I have made this listening to this album each year a tradition and it's something special I always look forward to!
You may have noticed I have some of the songs from this album on my song list! :) I recommend it to one and all!
Now...I must prepare for our Christmas Eve party tonight!
Celebrating with the family!! :)
Enjoy!!
Love,
Junie
Some Christmas stories of my childhood
Childhood memories...
Another Christmas Eve
Another Christmas Eve…
( In Immokalee )
This Christmas Eve, Mama and Daddy both had to work late.
We wait in the car, my sister and I, for their work to end; getting
increasingly more antsy as time drags by!
We want to get home … get to bed - to sleep - so Santa can come!
Their work ends, at last!
As every child on Christmas Eve must eventually do,
we managed to subdue our excitement enough to,
finally, sleep!
We had left a snack of nuts and fruit for Santa,
as was our custom.
In Santa’s haste to get out quickly and quietly,
after dispersing his gifts,
he dropped a small bunch of the grapes on the back stoop!
I know this to be a fact because Daddy said so!
He found the grapes! :)
My Christmas doll of that year not only talked,
but recited the Lord’s Prayer,
word for word!
I was amazed!
Remembering…Nov ‘03
Note:
This was my little sis and me at that time~ ages 7 and 10.
...a little further on down the road of our life...
Christmas-Perrine
The Christmas I was twelve, my sister got a beautiful walking doll with shiny blond hair!
I got a red silky and ruffled party dress. Mom gave me my gift early. I needed it for a very
special event at school. It was for a school-boy/girl type - social...a Christmas Sock-Hop!
We all danced in our elaborately decorated socks in the school gym!
(something new and exciting, for me!)
So I had one less gift to open on Christmas morning. I did, however, get my first camera that Christmas!
This was my first Christmas of not getting a doll and probably my sister's last Christmas doll!
SO...a page turned...
I felt a sadness in leaving my childhood behind...
( Some might argue that I STILL haven't done that! )
:)
Just remembering...Dec. 2003
Ruby Tuesday ~ (for Dec 22, 2009)
~~~

Lots of Ruby scenes around my house this week!

This was Mom's favorite candy at Christmas time! She would always get a few boxes from kids or grandkids because everyone knew how she loved it!

I'm sure to have it at our Christmas Eve gathering every year - for Mom!

I enjoy my coffee along with Mom's candy!

My roses !
These little roses bloom all through winter here!

Poinsettia~ the flower of Christmas!

I usually add a Santa or two, to my collection every year! This time I had not done that. I have not done my usual decorating of my house or adding anyting new this year!
(just haven't felt up to it for various reasons- and I feel bad for that, especially for my son because he's always enjoyed our decorating and celebrating very much!)

Anyway...
my son and his wife surprised me a couple nights ago with this cute little santa snow-globe
~ to add to the festivities around here! It's the cutest thing , so colorful! It lights up with changing colors as the snow swirls around Santa!

Some folks tell me my husband looks a lot like Santa...and some probably are
convinced he really is Santa!
( I'm not saying! )
~~

Well...here he is during one recent Christmas season...

...and here he is in July of a recent year!

What do you think?

Looks like the real ' Santa' to me!
