"Look What The Cat Dragged In!"

Warning: sad

~~~
Now, I'm sure you have all heard this saying at one time or another..."Look what the cat dragged in!"
~~
Look what the cat dragged in - A slightly derogatory comment on someone's arrival
Origin unknown, but an obvious reference to cats' tendency to bring home its prey, tattered and torn after "playing" with it for a while.
~~
I found this in my search!
More cat-sayings and their meanings found here!
~~
Well, I had quite a shock the other day, when I went to plug in my iron.
There in the corner, among an extension cord that had fallen onto the floor, was THIS!
In the unlighted corner I at first had trouble making out just what it was...but soon enough I could plainly see. :( It was a female Cardinal...my favorite of all the birds I see around our place!
What an unsettling thing this was!! :(
This little bird was not Tattered or torn- but lifeless just the same!
I have 3 cats as most of you know...and they are indoor/out-door cats! I can't imagine how that 'gift' to me was brought in without me seeing...because I have to open the door to let my cats in! (I have no small ~ dog/cat~ door!)
...Can't be sure which of my cats did this but I think I can safely eliminate old Tiger.
He's de-clawed, for one thing...another- he's old and not too swift...another- he's the most gentle soul I know!
On the other hand ...General is a hunter-and so is young Lucy!
~Tiger~
~General~
~ Lucy~
This is the nature of cats ...this hunting thing...and I try to look at it in that way!
~~~But -why the pretty birds, guys?~~~

Vince Gill

~~~
Today Charles and I were out and this cd was playing in his truck. I hadn't heard this in a long time as I don't listen to country music often. Country is not my #1 favorite...
I must say, however... I love this beautiful, romantic song!
Vince Gill has the perfect voice for this kind of song!
...(He's great to look at , too, with those dreamy eyes...lol- not that that would influence me...)
Enjoy this beautiful song!
Used Blues Band~ (from my sister's FB)
www.gainesville.com
Gainesville's Used Blues band, an Ocala nightlife staple, captured the Best Blues Song award at the ninth annual Independent Music Awards this week.
Used Blues - and a visit
***
We had an enjoyable evening at my sister's house and later, on to watch the Used Blues band show.
We had fun looking through old pictures that each of us added- in the recapturing of the past. Kinda fun -lol- though we didn't often (all 3 of us) remember each person! Joy and Tom had more memories in common because I was a couple grades in school ahead of them and didn't always know the same people.
We got a few pics with our new found-
old friend, Tom!
(Not good ones but I gotta at least put one here!!)
:)
Here are some pics of the band!
Also one of my son and his wife, enjoying the show!
This band is terrific!
Wowwowow!!
My mom in 1995
Today I awoke thinking of Mom as I, often, still do.
Today is the 7th. anniversary of her leaving us and it still seems strange and unreal, not to have her here! The sadness will never leave us.
This is a well remembered pose of our 'Ma-Ma' -talking on the phone to some of the family! :) She always wanted to keep in touch with those she loved!
And the winner is....
~~~

June Kellum

(from Facebook)

YaaHoo-Alan's band won the contest!!

(did I spell that rite? haha)

OK-We're very excited and happy for Alan and the UBb
...but to be honest, I am not surprised this song won. Alan wrote this song and plays the guitar- It's a great blues song... he has a super voice for bluzz singing!

This band-'Used Blues' band- is very popular... in our area-and all around central and northern Fl. Winning this award should help them to become known to a wider audience- plus they recently released a CD-"Deep Down in Florida."

I'm so proud and happy for Alan (and his new bride, Lauren) and the band- and for my sis!! :) Just think about it...she may someday soon be the mom of a 'Rock Star'...and I may be the auntie of one! :)

Cool things to think about! :)

Congrats, Alan and UBb!

Mellow Yellow Monday ~ simple pleasures

*Go here* to find more MYM posts!

These are my favorite shoes to wear around our place ... my favorite comfy sneakers;
my Mellow Yellow Grasshopper 'Sneaks!'

(enlarge - click on pic)

As you can see they have become very worn and raggedy...and, oh, how I wish I could find another pair just like them to replace them...but have not been successful in my quest! :(

The more I wear them and wash them, the better they feel on my feet! Love them, too, because I can just slip my feet into them- laced or unlaced-with socks or without socks!

Simple pleasures-in Mellow Yellow!

Camera Critters _ Transparency_ Jan 23, 2010

~~~
* Click here to find others.*
~Transparency~
I found this dead dragonfly on my back porch. I thought at first that my new kitten had caught it and was responsible for it's end...but after a closer look I found it was not tattered or torn but in perfect physical shape! I suppose it had simply reached the end of it's natural life span.
It's bigger than most Dragonflies that I have seen and quite beautiful! The wings are frilly and perfect and the body and head are a brilliant green in color.
I picked it up that day and, not wanting to discard something so pretty, put it aside in my laundry room on a shelf.
That was a couple months ago...It caught my eye again today and I took it down and made the picture. As you see, it is still very beautiful to look at!
(Or is it just me who thinks so!! :) )
Savannah memories~ and my Sepia Scene figurine
Note about my recent SS photo and post
To:
Carletta and all who might be interested in the book and statue-etc...
It's a very interesting book to read-and made even more so because it's a true story! Lots of quirky characters-in fact- MOST are! It reads like fiction with all the colorful characters; you almost think they HAVE to be from someone's wild imagination! :)
It was fun visiting the city and being able to find all the places mentioned in the book.
Bonaventure Cemetery is one of those places-and the original stature
( my Sepia Scene figurine pic) once stood in the cemetery but had to be removed-for safe keeping- after the book became such a big success.
If interested-click the link to read about the cemetery.
This is my choice for this time.
This book was entertaining to read - based on a true story - set in a most intriguing old city in the south-
Savannah, Ga.
This stature is mentioned in the story.
:)
I had to have one when we visited Savannah on our anniversary a few years ago!
Funny one for you
Here's a little joke I just got from a niece in an Email.
...It made me smile...How about you?
PREGNANT AT 71
A woman went to the doctor's office where she was seen by one of the younger doctors. After about four minutes in the examination room, she burst out screaming as she ran down the hall.
An older doctor stopped her and asked what the problem was, and she told him her story.
After listening, he had her sit down and relax in another room. The older doctor marched down
the hallway back to where the young doctor was writing on his clipboard.
"What's the matter with you?" the older doctor demanded. "Mrs. Terry is 71 years old, has four grown children and seven grandchildren, and you told her she was pregnant?"
The younger doctor continued writing and without looking up said,
"Does she still have the hiccups?"
:)
Enjoy your day!
In My Life, I Love You More
This is from George Martin's CD production:
"In My Life."
(a very special CD for me ~ for many reasons)
~~
Sean Connery - In my life
(Beatles)
There are places
I remember all my life
though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of Love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more!
Old friends and memories
Recently on Facebook there have been a lot of nostalgic memories being surfaced and passed around among some folks! 'Way Back' day brought pics to be posted from early days by a lot of people. It's been a lot of fun...of the bittersweet kind, to be honest; for who among us does not have mixed emotions of our youth?
Not long ago an old school friend (a friend of my sister, actually) found my name on 'Classmates.'
I had joined that website years ago, hoping to find some of my girlfriends from Jr. High.
Thomas (Tommy) and my sister were in 3-4 grade together. I knew him too, but I was a couple grades ahead. He recognized our name and emailed me...LOL- and as they say,'The Rest is History!'
We were all 3 happy to connect with someone from our 'Way back' days.
Turns out we are all on FB-. It's been fun talking about old-OLD- times and comparing who we remember - in common! There's something very special about meeting up again with someone who grew up in your own little town-went to your schools and knows, at least some of the same people!
(LOL - If we can get the names to fit the faces!!)
Our friend sent me this in an Email tonight...very fitting, I thought!
Life is full of surprises!
(this just happens to be a youtube I've played often)
George
My comments to my Blog Lady friends on the recent Beatles discussion...
( see post below this one-for their comments )
Blogger JunieRose2005 said...
Hi Ladies,
George really found himself AFTER the band broke up! He had greater success than any of them - post Beatles-IMO
Well, I have to admit that I only became a big Beatles fan in recent years.
When C. and I were first married we listened only to country music-(His choice) and it was ok with me because I was mostly into my 3 babies and music was not that important to me! :)
lol- well- HOW did I get off on all that?? Oh well-That's me!
3:01 PM
~~~~

Oh- but in recent years I have done a lot of catching up with my music!

How COOL that I have so much music to explore- that was almost totally unknown to me in the early years!!

Anyway- last night I had a very special music listen of Youtubes... continued with Paul- Post Beatles-but ended the night with George Harrison during the same period!

OK-

Here's a great song by George Harrison!

~

"I rest my case!"

Snow in Ocala!

___

When we got up to get ready for our day trip to Winter Haven to visit the folks...THIS is what we saw! Yes - SNOW in Ocala!

We saw flurries, off and on, the 2 hours it took us to get to my cousins house.There was small amounts of snow on some roofs and along the roadside and on cars! One car passed us with a build-up of snow and with a small snowman some enthused person had built- riding on the trunk! :) You got to understand this snow thing is a novelty for us here in Florida! :)

When we got to my cousins house my sister Joy and her husband were already there. ( C. and I had stopped for breakfast at a Hardee's!) The others arrived in about an hour!

We got a few pics of us all together before going out to eat at Red Lobster!

My cousin (center) and my 2 nieces (sisters)

OK-

...So we're home and facing another cold, cold night! My cats are all inside tonight because I don't have the heart to put them on the porch...I sure hope they don't mess up too badly while I'm sleeping! Got a litter pan set up for them so hope they will use it! My cats are not 100% indoor cats (except for Lucy.) but they like being in, in this cold weather. The 2 big guys have found a cozy, soft spot on my living room couch .

BTW-Lucy seems to be getting back to normal and is eating and drinking water...still rests a lot but she's found a good spot for that beside the fridge... I put a pad there for her. She likes the extra warmth of that motor running. She discovered that spot a few days ago! (Smart little cat!)

Chris and Joy were just here to get water...seems their water pipes have frozen ...hopefully Not burst! Oh, man!!

I will be happy to see the end of this cold weather!
