Pelicans

~ PELICANS ~

OK -

These birds fascinate me -
thrill me- even!

( LOL....And I can imagine you all thinking that it doesn't take a lot to thrill this lady, Junie Rose!

I guess you'd be right in that!
It's just that the world is full of wondrous things to see and do... if we just take the time to look around us!)

The last time we were at Cedar Key I didn't have the opportunity of seeing any pelicans up close. Imagine my surprise and excitement when walking out to the dock of our place and seeing this!

Some folks, at the place next to us, were cleaning fish from a recent catch and were throwing scraps into the water; thus attracting these big, comical looking, birds!

Zach came out a little later to have a look!

After their free feast of fish scraps, the big birds flew away!

These birds are awesome to watch!

I liked this show they gave me!

  5. I like watching the sea gulls and the pelicans when we go to Galveston. My two sisters and brother are going down there for a week starting June 15th. I can't wait to prop up my new beach umbrella and beach chair and just sit and enjoy. I love the sound of the waves coming in and going out. The sea breaze just pulls me in and I can sit for hours just enjoying the smells and the feel of the breaze. My sisters love to fish and I like looking for treasures on the beach.

I am hoping that there will be a little seaweed, notice I didn't say a "lot of sea weed" on the beach. I usually bag some up and bring it home for my garden....Actually you have to dry it and use it the next year or it will burn the plants. BUT it does have a ton of nutrients and does wonders for your plants.

I also enjoy watching the gulls when we go on a ferry boat ride. IT is so much fun.......I am getting more in the mood for my trip, Thanks so much!!

  10. They are comical and interesting. They were enjoying their free feast and providing you with entertainment and visual interest.
I saw a few of them when we were at Tybee Island near Savannah. They really are neat to watch.

  11. They are fun to watch as they catch their prey. But, who would have thought a pelican would bump into a human? Check this out.

    Ouch!

  15. Thanks for the pelican photos. They are my family bird, from my child hood, and I enjoy seeing them each time I walk along the bay.
Remember the verse: What a funny bird is the pelican,
it's beak holds more than its belican.
Like you I had no idea there is a photo quota on blogger.

Glad you like the pictures...lol- but blogger put an abrupt stop to the rest of the ones I wanted to show! Surprised the heck outta me- as I didn't know there was a limit!

  17. Hi Terra Hangen,

Thanks so much for your visit.

I'm really happy you like the Pelican pics and I'm glad I decided to put them on when I did! (since my blogger space has run out)

They are such fun birds to watch! I was just so thrilled to see so many in one spot and to be able to get such good pictures of some of them!

Also want to say that you have a quite impressive blog, from what I've seen so far! I'll be back soon for a longer visit.
