A QUIET beginning~
We've had a very quiet beginning to 2007. It's been a rainy and gloomy day, too-which doesn't add any good cheer!
We DID see the new year in together last night, Charlie and I, and watched the big ball come down in Times Square, NYC! ( Wouldn't have wanted to be a part of that crowd! :) )
~~~
Had a calf born last night, or early today! We'll assume 'she' came after mid-night, so our first of the new year! Don't know what to name her- in fact, I haven't seen her yet! Charlie says she's just a solid brown color! LOL-I was tinking of 'How, Now' (brown cow!) for a name! Silly ME , that I am! :)
... any good cow name suggestions??
~~~
OK
To make sure of our good luck in 2007, Charles prepared this meal for us!
Just Tina and Alli and Chris joined us... Sure hope the other family members were able to have some blackeyed peas - somewhere!
He made Blackeyed peas-with hog jowl, Cooked greens, (not sure what kind) and his excellent cornbread!... (I had a cup of buttermilk with hot cornbread in it!)
LOL- And we had- Hot Dogs!
~~~
Love,
Junie
Junie
Your menu is a little different from mine but not much...I wish I had posted some pics!!
ReplyDelete:-D
;) I think the blackeyed peas are the most important!
ReplyDeleteDidn't Charlie's cornbread look good?
And it WAS!
Junie
I enjoyed your poem and the photo of you and Charles back when your hair was dark and he was beardless and not white haired. You are still a great looking couple today!! Time has been good to you both.
ReplyDeleteThat meal looks delicious.
How Now sounds like a great name. I don't think I can top that one. I bet the little critter is so cute.
Happy 2007 to YOU. Enjoy it to the fullest!!
Hi Jamie Dawn,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting.
Am glad you enjoyed the poem and pictures.
Happy New Year to you and yours!
Junie
I'm with you Junie on not wanting to be in Times Square! Wasn't that a mob scene??
ReplyDeleteYour meal looks yummy..
Happy 2007
Hi June, thanks for visit, I really enjoy having all my new blogger friends, there are so many nice people to meet from all over the world. How about this for your little newcomer, Raeywen. ( New Year spelled backwards) I won't be at all offended if you reject it.
ReplyDeleteCheers Margaret.
Hi June ~~ I don't think you can do better then "How Now". We have fibre-glass cows in Shepparton and one of them
ReplyDeleteis completely brown with it's name on it "How Now." Loved the early photos of you and Charles, and also your poem.
Thank you for sharing it with us. I wish you and Charles and your family a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous
New Year in 2007. Much love, Merle.
Hello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteThanks for that suggestion ! That's very clever-'Raeywen' :) It sounds good, too. I usually go with the first thing that pops into my head for a name , tho, so I think I will probably call her'HowNow!' (I haven't even seen the little thing- since yesterday was a rainy day- but maybe today I can get down and get a picture!
I too, enjoy blogging and meeting new ppl. And you DO really get to feel like you know them and share in their pain or happiness and whatever is going on in their lives.....I feel we
are lucky, here with our little blogging circle! We seem to all visit the same friends here.
Have a great day, Margaret.
Junie
Hi Merle,
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming here.
I remember your picture of the cows in your town... May have remembered that name, too! (HowNow) Anyway, seems like the name for this new little brown calf!
I'll make a picture today if I can.
Thanks for reading my poem and for your nice comments!I'm not a great poet but I enjoy doing it...:) so folks will just have to put up with it from time to time.
I love doing the old pictures, too. I can usually make them better by working with my photo program. A lot of my old photos are polaroid shots and didn't hold up well!
Have a happy day (or night) and a great New Year.
Love,
June
Hi Susie,
