...a long and happy day!

Today has been a long but happy day for us. We had our Mother's Day celebration a day early and it worked out fine!

As usual, we missed the ones not here...which were Dan ,( our grandson), and Marc, (Our SIL) this time! I think we will see Dan tomorrow-I hope so, anyway!

We had some yummy food. Charles did ribs on the grill and I made salad-side dishes and some baked sweet potatoes with butter, splenda and cinnamon. They were real good!

Tina and Alli made some sugared fresh fruit which was delicious! This was something new for us and everyone loved it!

I got some nifty gifts -as you can see in the pictures!

The Old Country Roses music box is from Charles-and he has an order for me whch will come soon- Old Country Roses Tea set- (Tea pot-Sugar bowl and Creamer) I just love this china so am very thrilled with these additions to my collection!!

I also got some pretty candles...one from Zach and the other from Tina and family. Tina and Alli also got me the cute , tiny, egg skillet. They say it cooks a perfect, single egg; just the size to fit a piece of toast! I can't wait to try it out! :)

I was happy with the gift from Tam and Terry- It's the book about Warren Zevon- 'I'll Sleep When I'm Dead,' written by Crystal Zevon, his former wife. (Well- you all KNOW I'm a big fan of the late Warren Zevon!)

Chris had already given me the 2 music gifts on my birthday...one of which was for Mother's Day!

Here are some pics of our day and my gifts!

Love,

  3. Wonderful, Junie! I'm glad you had a great day!

What do you put in your deviled eggs? I'm always looking for new recipes, as I haven't liked most of the ones I've tried! My mother used to make them by mixing the egg yolks with ketchup, and I loved those! I know... you are probably gagging right now - I don't think eggs with ketchup are done in this country, but I always have ketchup with mine - yummy!! :)

  6. Hi Skye,

Yes- it was a fun day for us all.

As for my deviled eggs I just smash the yolks with a fork and add, salt, ground pepper,Mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish and mustard powder (or a little bit of prepared mustard)I go lightly with the mustard-but DO like a little taste of it in my eggs!

I have never used ketchup in eggs- but I have seen a lot of people who like ketchup with scrambled eggs!
