Poem: Winter's Coming On~ (a repeat)

~

Winter’s Coming On

Winter’s coming on.
The year is winding down.
Autumn’s color,  gone-
her leaves piled on the ground.

The chill is in the air-
and soon there will be snow.
But we’ll keep warm and cozy,
as north winds start to blow.

We’ll sit next to the fire,
with blankets  tucked in neat.
We’ll cuddle - you and I, my love -
as  embers warm our feet.

We’ll have our tea or coffee,
our steamy cups to hold
up close before our faces;
to help combat the cold.

Fire logs will be handy,
Piled up in stacks so high.
We won’t meet winter, unprepared,
and never would we try!

Another Alabama Christmas Season ~(re-post from my Mom blog!)

My friend Donna posted something today on her blog that reminded me of this post (below) of one of my childhood memories. I had written this and posted it on my 'Memories of Mom' blog. ( found on my side bar)

Be sure to read *Donna's post* today.....definitely similar to my story! :)

Enjoy!

(My memories)

'Another Alabama Christmas Season'

One Christmas season, as we anxiously counted down the days,
Santa appeared at our window, late one night!

As the story goes, Santa routinely checks up on children;
keeping tabs on who's naughty and who's nice!!
We, my baby sister and I, were in awe at having that brief glimpse of Santa at our window!
...And we hoped we had been nice enough all year!

Much later that next year, I came across a fake beard in a dresser drawer!
That puzzled me for awhile - but I put it out of my mind before
the next Christmas season came around!

Some things are just too precious to give up before it's time! :)

...wondering...

...was it my brother or Daddy?

In this old post:

...a little poem written about my husband's childhood.

Hope some of you enjoy this- even though it's all re-runs!

Sky Watch Friday ~5 ~ 15 ~ '09 (and a poem)

It's time again for Sky Watch Friday!

Click here for more sky pictures around the world.

~~~
These are some random sky shots from my world !
~~~

I have posted this poem before but I feel it fits here, with the last, moonlight picture.
...except this image doesn't have the stars of my poem! :)
However, the deep blue/black velvety color is the same!

I remember my feelings of the night this poem came to me!

I had just had a wonderful conversation with a friend ~
of all the wonders of the sky and the universe and of our Creator!

The star-studded sky, as I gazed upward,
just about took my breath away!

Winter in Anthony

Last night's temps got low enough to do this damage to my yard plants!

The Azaleas were almost in full bloom...so I guess they're finished for the year! And the Poinsettia plants were damaged! Also the Impatiens and the Fern around the fish pond!

This is how they look today!

Spring just got a little too impatient and eager to 'get on with it!' ;(

Guess I better concentrate my efforts on these little house plants-for now- if I want flowers!

~~~
If you detect a little bit of discontent...maybe even a bit of depression- you are very observent of the moods of JunieRose!
Can't help it - and of course, it's not just these bitten back flowers ...
Rather, a general feeling of sadness from several different areas of my life!
~Of course-a nice, sunny day always helps~ I'll hope for tomorrow to be that kind of day!~
~A Poem~
The Sky Today
The sky, today,
is dark with clouds.
The sun is hidden well.
And though
I have the heat turned up,
the chill
I can’t dispel!
The gloomy day
has taken hold-
seems settled in to stay.
All things of cheer-
all sunny thoughts-
have all
been chased away!
…But is it just the
sunless day
that chills me to the core?
…Or fear that I have lost you -
will not see you anymore?
