Rush

:) Awhile back, on a get together with some of the 'Kids and Grands,' the subject of concert going came up! I guess I was talking about getting the tickets to the 'Mark Knopfler' show at the end of July (in Atlanta) ...Anyway- someone mentioned that RUSH was on tour...and would be doing a show in Tampa or maybe Orlando! My grandson and son-in-law like this band a lot.

Well...the part that was kinda amusing was that this mention of RUSH got the attention of Charles right away! LOL- you see - he thought they meant Rush Limbaugh was coming to do a show!! :) He was ready to buy tickets!!

No! Charles is not a fan of RUSH the well known and excellent rock band! I am, and would dearly love to see this band in concert...but I didn't even consider it! We have the other show coming up (Knopfler) and I'm one who knows her limitations in these things!

Also, Ringo's All Stars are doing a show in Clearwater/Tampa in July! I would have loved to see that, as I have been told Ringo's shows are always a lot of fun...however... (read above paragraph!)

Oh , well! Such is life! ;) You have to go with what life has to offer in whatever circumstances happens to be yours! I DO that and get pleasure out of each day!

A wide range of enjoyment, I manage to find!

For instance- I enjoy the music I find online and I like the listening and chats I have with some friends about the music.

Last night's Grand Finale was some RUSH Youtubes!

( no! :) Not Limbaugh...Rush-the Rock band!) :)

Enjoy!

Another late evening...

This late evening- after dinner- (earlier this week) once again found me in my yard...'Taking Care of Business'... feeding my cats and dogs ...etc...

Took my usual walk around the yard with my camera.

Just a few more shots of my flowers and then I'll give it a rest! I promise! :)

This blue flower is the one whose name escaped me the last time I posted about it! ....Well- it's called 'Plumbago' and is an excellent landscape plant for Florida. It's used a lot in plantings along expressways! It blooms almost year round so is very desirable.

Charles bought me 5 of these for Mother's Day- and we planted them on the east side of our house. Some roses we had there died from lack of watering! These will do better I'm sure! They are an attractive and very showy plant with their abundant blooms!
I like the way they look against the bricks!

I once again admired the Mimosa in bloom!

This is one flowering tree I loved when we first started coming to this area way back in the 70s .

This tree didn't grow in Miami where we lived for so many years!

... It just had great appeal for me and I still like it as much as ever, after living here 20 years now!

My mom loved it too and I always think of her when I see it in bloom!

(Not that I need much prompting to think of Mom!)

These little flowers she loved a lot too! So do I! They are called '4 O'clock' and only bloom out in late afternoon or on cloudy, overcast days! They are very fragrant and attract humming birds! These plants die back in winter but always come back the next late spring! The flowers are interesting , as they can be mixed colors on the plants; some yellow, some pink! In fact, the individual flowers can have the combined colors!

I also have a very light pink one- but it's growing in another spot and doesn't have the blended colors! I want to keep it pure in it's color, so I'm glad it came up where it did!

I guess these are a wild flower...but I like them a lot! So they are here to stay!

~~~
This day I found my 2 cats doing their thing in the yard...keeping watch on the whole place!
'Tiger' had the front yard covered...
While 'General' patrolled the fairy/herb garden in back!
So it goes at Junie's Place! ;)
My music from Alli & Tina
Today Alli came up, as she just had that early morning test in her IB program-then no school for the rest of the day. We had a nice visit .
Among other things we looked at some old home vids when the kids were all here a lot. :) Alli and Zach, especially, like to reminisce about 'the old days' here on the farm and watch the old movies! And-indeed- watching these vids, one would have to see it was the ideal place for kids to be! They had unlimited things to explore in those days! We did the videos for about 12 years... and they are priceless to us all!
We need to get them put onto disks now...time and technology moves on!
~~~

Last night I listened to the CD that Alli and Tina gave me of Maroon 5 - ' It Won't Be Soon Before Long'

This is a band I didn't know, but my girls have seen them and like them a lot! I enjoyed the new experience too!

OK- I know this band has been around for a few years... but ...my recent 3 years have been spent in catching up with classic rock of the 70s-80s that I had missed... (lol- I'll never catch up- there's too much out there!)

Anyway...

I am sharing a Youtube vid here!

This is one of the songs on the CD I have.

Enjoy!

Thanks,

Alli & Tina!

Love,

Ginga

My Dogs and Roses

In the early evening, just before dusk, it's my routine to go out and feed my cats and bring my little old doggie, 'Nighty', into the back porch for the night.

She's very old...over 18 years now and almost totally blind and deaf. I can't bear to do anything except to let her live out her life.

The weather has been very fine lately and in the shade of the giant oak trees she seems satisfied to just sleep away most of her day.

Some days, still, when I go to bring her inside, she once again shows a bit of the friskiness she had as a young dog. But she tires very quickly...

It's sad to deal with her advanced poor health... Funny thing with her, though... she still loves her dinner at night. I give her the best I can buy!

This is a pic that was taken recently. 'Peachy Poodle' likes to visit with the old girl! Both my little dogs are old ...Peaches is 12 yrs. I know I won't have either of them much longer.

Well, Dang! I'm sad now and didn't mean my conversation to go here!! :(

Actually, what I started out to say was that I enjoy the late afternoon- when I'm winding down- doing the little things I have to do as part of my schedule...taking care of my animals and getting them set for the night!

...Having my camera with me has become the norm! I love getting pictures of the roses this time of day!

Like these!

It's early for me to be 'hitting the hay' but I think I can do it this night! I'm very tired due to a poor night of sleep last night! (Just one of those troubled nights!)
I'll read a little and then , hopefully, get some good ZZZzzz's.

Hope you all have a good night.

Alli with an ' i '

Join me in wishing our Allison good luck with some tough final exams going on this week and next!

( Although it's not 'luck' at all, but a lot of hard work and dedication!)

She talks about this on her blog today!

Our Alli is not only pretty and smart...she's also very brave! :)

Just for a laugh! (Post#2 ~ see Post#1 below this one!)

I got this from a niece in an E-Mail today!

It made me chuckle...

Have you ever noticed that 'funnies' usually have a generous helping of
believability about them?
I have!

Subject: Dead Donkey

Young Chuck, moved to Texas and bought a donkey from a farmer for $100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day. The next day he drove up and said, "Sorry son, but I have some bad news, the donkey died."

Chuck replied, "Well, then,just give me my money back."

The farmer said, "Can't do that. I went and spent it already."

Chuck said, "Ok, then, just bring me the dead donkey."

The farmer asked, "What ya gonna do with him?

Chuck said, "I'm going to raffle him off."

The farmer said, "You can't raffle off a dead donkey!"

Chuck said, "Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead."

A month later, the farmer met up with Chuck and asked, "What happened with that dead donkey?"

Chuck said, "I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars a piece and made a profit of $898.00."

The farmer said, "Didn't anyone complain?"

Chuck said, "Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two dollars back."

Chuck grew up and works for the government.

Is it just me???

The day before Mother's Day we visited Mom and took her these Roses!

It was a windy day...but Mom wouldn't mind my messy hair - so I don't either!

As we drove into the cemetery this is the first thing we saw!

I found this inappropriate to have displayed on the lawns there!

Is it just me?
What are your thoughts on this?

( LOL- but my mom would probably find it amusing! )

~~~
I know Mom would love the Magnolias that are in bloom all around our area right now!
This one is in our yard!
I love the way it looks against the blue sky!
Hope you're all having a good day!
A visitor
At the end of the day yesterday-just about the time that everyone was leaving - this little guy showed up at our place.
He appeared to be a well cared for dog but had no tags and no way to identify him.
He was friendly...
...except with our cats!
They were both snoozing under our car parked in the drive... Well, this aggressive little dog discovered them and went for them!
'General' got up this tree in a flash!
(Or, like white lightening, you might say!)
Luckily, 'Tiger' escaped being targeted, as he would have not found safety so easily! Tiger has no claws and can't climb trees!
Here is General in his safe place!
~~~

We were in agreement (Charles and me and our son Chris who lives with us) that we couldn't keep the dog!

We have often taken in strays in the past, if we couldn't locate an owner but those days are over for me! Yep! I don't feel up to taking on a new pet.

But- to be honest- the cat situation had a lot to do with our quick decision! We all adore those cats and wouldn't want them to be stressed out by a new dog giving them a hard time!

I had to secure the little stranger on a long leash, overnight, and put my cats in the safety of the back porch for the night.

And here they are in the comfort and safety of my living room, as we waited for the animal control lady to come out this morning!

I was sad to send the little dog on his way, but the animal control lady said they'd try to find the owner. (There was some info on the collar, but not a phone #.) She also said this dog would be easily adopted out as he was young and friendly - and attractive!

~~He just had this thing about cats!!!~~

Yesterday we took flowers out for Mom.

Here we are just before we left our house.

The tree is a Mimosa.
Mom loved those and so do I.

We're expecting the kids and Families soon so I have to get things together!

Hope we all have a wonderful day!

Thinking of mom ~ 2008

Mom has been gone, now, more than 5 years...and I still think of her every day! And she's on my mind more than ever as this Mother's Day draws near!

This was one Mother's Day we had together ... Mom was almost always with us on special days!

I miss you, Mom!

I wrote this in memory of our sweet Ma-Ma!
It's been posted a few times here but this is for Mom so I'm putting it here again! The roses I saved were the last ones we could give her!

~~~
Mom’s Last Roses
These are Mom’s last roses.
I kept a little part
of all the roses given,
from every grieving heart.
I handled them so gently
and dried them - as you see.
I found the perfect basket-
arranged them carefully.
I found the sweetest ribbon,
and made this fancy bow-
attaching it, expertly!
It had to be - just so!
It had to turn out special,
and easily convey…
how much I do still love her
and miss her every day!
These are Mom’s last roses.
They’ll always be a part
of all my memories of her
and the sorrow in my heart.
