 This was from my son when he was a little boy,probably around 8 years old.

 (It held a bottle of perfume originally!)

 It's been part of our tree for all those years!

I'm sorry I didn't get a lot of Christmas greeting cards sent out this year...not that I don't love you all and wish you the best! It's just that I was unable to do all that I wished I could this time.
(I'm getting old and slow-and that's the truth!)

...and here is my only girl grand baby, Alli, with her big brothers, Dan and Brian! This was her first Christmas. She would have her 1st birthday the day after Christmas.

 (and now she's almost 22!!)

:) I wanted to name our almost Christmas babe, "Merry Noel," but Tina didn't go along with that! lol...

 

 Alli has said she's glad her mom didn't let me name her that- Haha... She likes her name Allison Brooke better! ;)

(...but she's known, far and wide, as just "Alli!")

This is my older 3 grandsons,

 (grown up now) brothers Dan & Brian and their little cousin, Zach! They were ages (approx) 3- 5- and 7.

Today I am trying to get some cleaning and decorating done!

 Wish me luck! :)

Hopefully, I'll come through one more time!

 (although I will have to avoid ladders as much as possible!!)
Have a six foot tree to get up, too!

....Well, I did get my front door wreath up last night! :) That's a start, ehh??

Packing away Christmas

Knocked myself out yesterday in packing up my Christmas stuff...Got most of it done except dragging the tree out- Chas will have to help with that-bad back or not!!!! I was sooo tired I couldn't get to sleep when I went to bed at 1:00AM...At 3:30 I was still awake... so had to take a prescription sleeping pill. My Melatonin didn't work last night- I guess I was just too tired!! My goodness-couldn't believe it when I looked at the clock when I awoke this morning...10:30!!!! :) But I feel better and am ready to face the day.....and the Rest Of My Life!!

I am reminded of some lyrics from a Dan Fogelberg song...

 The song is "Loose Ends."

.."Surrounding myself with possessions, I surely have more than I need...I'm wondering if this is justice hard earned, or simply a matter of greed...."

 

LOL-

I'm sure Dan was not writing about putting away Christmas decorations...nonetheless...those words came to me!!

~My Poinsettias-after the freeze~

I was doing this post for Ruby Tuesday but when I went to link up to that blog- (Mary the Teach at Work of the Poet)- she announced there that she's ending the weekly Meme of Ruby Tuesday!

I had my RT post ready so I will go ahead with it anyway!

As I have mentioned before, we are a little too far north in Fl for Poinsettias to make it through the cold we are sure to get...

Although the plants usually do make it, the freezing temps are sure to come when the plant is at it's most beautiful stage with the showy flowers in bloom, and the flowers are instantly zapped by the freezing temps!

The aim we have and the best we can hope for is to have our flowers in bloom at Christmas.

I accomplished that with a few bushes around our place and especially this one that I had planted last year in our front courtyard.

Last night's freezing temps ended it's glorious display  for this year...

Well, not completely. Notice in the picture the one flower not affected. It's on the same bush with the others that are hanging limp and wasted.  It's in the front, too, and not in a protected place at all.

That is weird and I don't understand...

But I'm not complaining.  I'll enjoy looking at it a little while longer!

These are some Mellow Yellow shots from a recent Christmas party at my son Chris and D-I-L, Joy's house.

Their place was so festive and pretty  and Joy is an excellent cook!!

We're all excited that in May they will be adding  a baby to our family!

Poinsettias are a challenge to grow here in N. Fl because we usually have too much cold but I still try to save the plants that I buy each Christmas season. The one shown behind me in the pic where I'm seated is one I planted from last Christmas. It is beautiful and bloomed just at the right time! I will plant those new ones in pots on the table, in the spring-and hope they survive for next Christmas. They are SOOO worth it for me!
