Poem: Those Pumpkins ( Another Halloween Post -#4)

~~~~~~
Did you have doubts about these guys coming to be? If so you just haven't been paying close attention to my ramblings all these months! :)
As I have often stated, I just hate change...letting go of traditions! And though I am the only one who will see my Jack-O- Lanterns this Halloween, I'm still happy I did them! I'll sit and watch them until their little lights burn out! Who knows, I may even find some more candles when these burn down! I'm sitting with just the candle light and the light from my computer. It's very cozy and festive!
Dinner was a simple Tuna salad, so I would have the time to carve these guys! Two of them seem happy that I did...not sure about the other two!
Oh well! I learned a long time ago you can't always please everyone!
I think I may search out some more Halloween type songs to celebrate! :)
Hi June Nice poem, but a little sad for
days gone by. But you DID carve the pumpkins, so all ia well. Hope you had a great Halloween. Take care, Merle.
Thanks Merle,
Yep- was a little sad- but did my pumpkins and enjoyed looking at them.The candles are burned out now so I'll try for some sleep!
Take care,
June
Hi Jeanette
Thanks for coming by and for your comments.
I suppose 50% smiles is not that bad! :)
Well, I'm glad you did your pumpkins...they look terrific. And, I LOVE your poem...I've felt the same way many times. My Halloween was pretty quiet...how about yours?
Hi Joy,
Yes, it was very quiet here.
;) I just felt compelled to carve my pumpkins...not to let go of the traditions!
Halloween was always such a fun time with my kids and then with my grands- all through the years!
The little poem just sort of happened. Lol- didn't intend to write one when I sat down here late yesterday! Not a word was changed...that's the way it came to my mind! hahaha...but it reflected my feelings perfectly.
Have a good day, Joy.
I like your poem, Junie... I knew you'd grab the knife!! Must have taken you a while to do FOUR!! Especially the seed/string removal part. Ewww! I was glad we only had one small pumpkin to carve last night!
Do you not get trick-or-treaters where you are? Is it too far out in the country?
My girls enjoyed trick-or-treating yesterday. I'll post a couple of pics of them in my blog today!
Hi Skye,
I'm glad your girls had fun and will look forward to the pictures later.
No, we don't have Trick-or-Treaters come around here. We are in the country, and although there are houses near by , apparently there are few kids.
I miss all that of when my kids were young-and also the grandkids!
LOL- YAH-I HAD to do my pumpkins! It didn't take long-about 10 minutes or so on each-maybe less...I didn't do a real good job of removing the insides- knowing they would be used for such a short while- and for my eyes only! haha- Still- I had fun with them-and having them lit until bedtime! I didn't even put them outside- just turned out most of the lights and had them all to myself! ( :) such a kid I am!!)
See you later,
Junie
They look wonderful!
I was talkign w/my neighbor about this very thing yesterday. It just isn't the same w/out kids in the house anymore. We gave out candy anyway and I did enjoy the ones coming to my door, such neat costumes! I made a promise to decorate next year for Halloween ;)
Carolyn,
The years in Miami when my kids were growing up were FUN years for Trick-or-Treaters. And for ME!
For one thing it seemed like safer times- being in a neighborhood where my kids had the same friends from toddler age through high school! Everyone knew each other.
Since we've been here (in the country of Ocala,Fl) we have had almost NO kids come by on Halloween! I would usually do something with my girls and grandkids...but now the Grands are all grown up!
I think , tho, I will always carve a pumpkin or 2!
( the KID in me can't let it go! )
Junie
