Happy day

This was a happy day for us. We had a pre-Easter lunch and visit with some more of the family. We had Tammy,Terry, Tina and Alli, Chris and Charles and me!

I missed the others and wished they were here! :(
( but, at least I saw 2 of my boys yesterday!)

As you know I am having a hard time letting go the traditions...and so at the last moment colored a dozen eggs- with all our names on them! Even Ma-ma! She will always be with me!

In the past we would do a few dozen eggs for the kids to hunt! We would also get some of those plastic eggs to put treats in...candy or change - or dollars, sometimes! Now - those were the days of egg hunts around here!

Almost every year the kids would fail to find the last egg...and the grown-ups who did the hiding could not remember where they all were hidden... Usually, later in the year that egg would surface... and not in great shape! :) Would have to be buried right where it was found! The years when we had geese I would sometimes use the huge geese eggs...just for the fun of having Big ones! (I never liked to eat the goose eggs) They were fun to decorate! I also liked to use the brown eggs I got from my hens...We would get some unusual colors when we dyed them! :)

Until recent years the coloring and decorating of eggs (the night before Easter) was a fun night at Ginga's house! All the kids would join in-and it was a big, messy, fun, deal!
There was much laughter-and some dropping of eggs...tears, sometimes,
when a masterpiece of an egg accidentally rolled off the table!

OK-

My measly 1 dozen colored eggs of this year is just in keeping with our traditions! But I got all our names on them-and Ma-Ma... even one with 'cats-dogs-cats-dogs' all over it! And one that just says 'Family' which covers our extended families... Somehow, it is just comforting for me to do this!

Changes are hard on me!

But you know that about me already!

We had a great, fun time of being together! Lots of lively chit-chat and good food, too!

Tammy and Terry brought us this hanging plant; it's a white Bougainvillea!
I had never had one of those! After tomorrow I will find a place to hang it outside, as it needs full sun!

Some pics of our day~

~~~
Tomorrow, perhaps a motorcycle ride for Charlie and me!
I'll suggest it-see what happens!
Love,
Ginga
Junie, I wish you could come over here and do Easter for MY family! It seems such a shame that you are so motivated to celebrate the holidays, but have no little kids to do everything for, while I have plenty of kids but can barely find the energy for the celebrations! I sure wish I could find a way to put my heart into it, knowing as I do that soon enough the kids will be grown and gone and I'll be left wishing for these days (and wishing I'd made the most of them, too!). I know you must think I'm the most ungrateful person on earth for being this way, but it's not because I want to be. I used to get excited about holidays just the same way you do... but somewhere along the way I just got so tired somehow. I'm really sorry, and I so wish your grandkids were still little so that you could enjoy all those holiday traditions you love so much.
Hi Terry,
Thanks! We all enjoyed the day. It was fun and the food was good!
-and I got some good family pictures!
And I DO love the plant! I will try to pay special attention to it and keep it growing- may even plant it in the ground after awhile!
Happy Easter to you all.
Love,
Ginga
Dear Skye,
Well, thanks for your kind comments...
Looking back, I realize things were not always so easy and stress free -especially raising MY 3 kids.
It became easier with the grandkids and I'm so glad we have so many good memories of times spent together.
All you can do is try your best to make good memories with your kids-and to be the best mom you can be!
Happy Easter to all of you, Skye.
Great photos of the people and the eggs. Good to have those family traditions, no matter how old we get. ec
I like your personalized, dyed eggs.
It's wonderful that you made one for you "mama."
I miss the days when my kids were little too.
The joys of egg hunts and dressing them up in darling outfits are days I will always treasure.
Jamie Dawn,
Thanks for your comments. I am just a very sentimental lady- and want to hold on to the past!
(and keep us all together!)
Hope you had a wonderful Easter with your family!
Junie
