Thursday Theme Song~ ( for May 19,2011) "My Ride's Here"

~~~
"My Ride's Here"
(Warren Zevon)
"...I said, "Man, I'd like to stay
But I'm bound for glory
I'm on my way
My ride's here..."
~This is from "Enjoy Every Sandwich," a tribute album  for Warren Zevon~
 (Bruce Springsteen)
Warren William Zevon
(January 24, 1947 – September 7, 2003)
~
Warren Zevon's final album. "The Wind" was worked on and completed the months before his death in 2003. Many well known artists, and friends of Warren in the music business, were with him to the end of this final project. I, so, admired Warren's courage and determination in doing this, and I admired the friends who stood beside him and helped him make this possible!
This is an excellent album and very touching to get through...knowing the circumstances.
It's an album I cherish!
Our Victory Ride Today_
~~~
Today was a perfect day for a ride. Only thing missing  was the fluffy clouds I like to see against the blue.  :)   But I'm not complaining. It really was an awesome day to ride or to do just about anything, I'd say!

Here we are just starting out.

Here am I, doing my usual kid games, playing with my camera... getting close-ups and reflection shots in Charlie's helmet!

~
Oh, but the girl DOES have some fun!!

One PLUS I have found in getting older...
OK,OLD...is that there's no need to worry about appearing silly. We've earned the right to do as we damn well please! LOL-  And we're considered silly anyway, no matter how dignified and proper and sensible we may try to be! Hey, it's true!
 :)

 We decided to ride to Waldo's Antique's and  Flea Market.

    I remembered on the way that my old friend from the Way Back times had told me she has a booth at the Flea Market and sells jewelry...
We were hoping we might find her there...but we didn't!

Just in recent months 'Carrie' and I have got back in touch (on FB) after around '50' years! (lol-Yes-a lifetime!) I had known her in 5th-thru 9th grades...and then also , briefly after we were grown-ups...We were both surprised to learn we live not too far from each other here in north Fl.

Oh well- I'll have to plan better next time!
Waldo is about 40 miles from our place.

We saw a lot of stuff...everything you can imagine, and then some! We bought only a leather belt for Charles and  2 bundles of giant size sweet onions!

~
I liked these little bunnies and lots of other farm animals...chicks and ducks and geese; puppies and kitties too.  LOL- NO-I didn't  buy any of those little critters...Would have been a bit hard getting them home on the motorcycle!
   :)

Oh! We saw a lot of interesting people too.
Saw Elvis, in fact! He's alive and well in Waldo, Fl. He was wearing a fancy red and sequined jumpsuit!
(Is that what they were called?)
He was just walking around the flea market... not performing. Guess he's taking some leisure time!!

We saw a lot of tattooed bodies!
  Tattoos are very in here in north Fl...and while I'm not so much against tattoos I still am constantly amazed at the variety of designs  and colors you are apt to see these days...also, of the places people are still finding  on the bods to put them.

In the past
(speaking of my young years)
tattoos were mostly seen on service men.. and mostly on the upper arms. You'd see a lot of banners with 'mother' written on them ... or a big red rose...or our flag...anchors, on sailors...
Oh, and sometimes you'd see female figures that would move  with the flexing of the muscled arm.

Lol- Come to think of it - my dad had one of those- a naked lady...and we, as kids, and then the first grand kids in the family, found Dad's tattoo kinda cool!

  My mom never had a tattoo-
and neither do I!
:)

~
On the way back we swung over to Gainesville, to our all time favorite place for a Hogie sandwich! They sure do know how to do a great toasted and  pressed sandwich! It had been awhile and it sure was good!

OH- Note the straggly hair on Junie Rose...the motorcycle ride is partly to blame...the bigger part is I'm badly in need of a haircut! Gotta do something about that this week!

We love everything about this place!

 Our ride today was again around 100 miles- a good one!

lol- and having that sandwich in mid-afternoon meant I'd do no cooking tonight!! That's always a good deal!

Our Victory Ride

Shadows and Reflections on this springtime ride.

  ~Shadows~

Here we are just about ready to roll!

~Putting the wild hair up...~

**
We went for a long ride today- a total of 114 miles! I had not been for a ride in a long time-probably a year. It was good to do it again and, surprisingly, it wasn't so hard for me...in fact-I really enjoyed it!

We rode over to Salt Springs and then on to Palatka. Didn't do anything except had lunch and stopped at a little flea market and didn't even get any pictures worth sharing.

LOL- but of course I AM sharing some of the silly ones I got of us.
(especially me-I'm the silliest one)

Well, heck, if you like playing around with a camera you'll find things to do with it- even if the scenery isn't showing you much as you zoom down the road at 65 miles per hour on the back of a motorcycle! I got these shadowy and reflective self portraits to use in my post!

Lucky you!! haha

Weekend Reflections ~ Dec 5, 2009-Riding

Update on this post:

Charles told me I need to explain this pic a bit~ Lol-In fact HE couldn't figure it out himself and it's the back of HIS helmet I'm shooting into! :)

It looks like I'm sitting on thin air, almost, and being very daring with that camera! Actually, I have a good seat with a back rest and I don't need to hang on when we ride ~ leaving me free to have fun with my camera! :)

A Victory Ride and other misc. stuff

We had a very fine day here in Ocala.

I was up very early - before 6:00 - despite the fact that I didn't get to bed until almost 2:00AM!
Yikes! I need more sleep than I'm getting these days...

You'd expect with getting to bed at that time that I might sleep a little later...but -NO! Things are working against me these days/nights-concerning my sleep!

Well- since I was up early I was able to catch another sunrise!

Even though I was tired , I was up and I was
reminded of the old saying..."If life gives you lemons - make lemonade!"
So my day would be a lemonade kinda day!

(LOL- Well-I see the logic in that in relation to my situation today -don't you?)

...AND-here comes the sun! Unfortunately, where we are, I can't see when/where the sun actually comes up, so I have to be content with the gradual lightening of the eastern sky! It's always a sight to see - each new day!

Anyway-my loss of sleep actually gave me 2 benefits which were quite meaningful to me...

#1 benefit:

The reason I was up so late was that I , once again, got into listening to a lot of the Remastered Beatles music on Youtube! These cds are superb and I get caught up with them! They are truly amazing!
(So-YES-the late hour of turning in was worth it!!)

Yep- Beatles just got better, folks!
(Here is one of my/our favorites!)

#2 benefit:

OK-Along with the sunrise,( which was enjoyable) being up early gave Charles and me the opportunity for a Victory ride. We've been looking forward to this cool, fall weather to go riding again! The weather today was just about perfect.

Here we are about to leave our place - around 8:30.

We went for breakfast, accompanied by another cup of coffee,
which was very good. After that we just started riding, with no destination in mind. We rode through some of the big ranch/farm areas.

The sign gives you an idea of how big the horse industry is in our area! These big farms are quite impressive to see!
( Charles and I often fantasize about winning the lottery and buying such a place as some of these farms!...lol-but in the meantime we try to be content with our own little spot!)

To me, there is no more desirable place to live, that I know of, than right where we are here in north Florida; and with our own modest little place! All things considered- this is where I wanna be!

That's a good thing- to be content with your own place in the big picture of your life; at least that's the way I see it!

Our country-side ride~

We came upon a neighborhood that was having a 'Neighborhood-wide Yard Sale'...which of course meant that a lot of the houses had stuff out to sell!

Oh, my! I had lots of fun looking and found a few things I wanted...well- more, actually, than we were able to carry on the motorcycle! In fact, Chas had to make a trip back to get some of the stuff that we bought! :)

Below see what I got!

The old radio shows I gave to my son but the music I kept for myself.
(The oldies and the classical) The horses I also gave to Chris, my son.

Oh- and I really love that vase with the autumn leaves on it!

How about this?

Is there a more perfect blouse for a girl named Junie Rose than this one? :) ... And the price was certainly right at just.....25 cents! LOL!!

Love,
Junie Rose
