Pink Saturday-Feb 22, 2014-

~~~
~
To a little boy who likes cars, trucks, tractors
...anything with wheels...
as much as my little grandson does, the color doesn't matter much! :)
This pink Barbie car is a left-over from an earlier time and an earlier child!
Pink Saturday-Pink Spring!! (4-6-13)
 ~~
**See other "Pink Saturday" posts here**
***
Yesterday was another really BEAUTIFUL spring day for us here in north Florida!
Since I didn't need to watch Drakey, Charles and I decided to go out! We went for breakfast then we hit some yard sales around town! You never know what you might find! :) I found some cool 'dolls,' among other things! Love finding things I like for a good price! (NOT that I needed more dolls-some might say!!!) But it's the little things in life that adds the fun part!!
Before we started out, though, we checked out the meadow. It's looking good! This is one of my favorite spots in my world and what I most love about our spring!!
Some pics of our beautiful little corner of the world! :)
~~OK-lots of Pinks and also LOTS of reds!!~~
Ruby Tuesday - Feb 18, 2013 - 2-Frozen flowers
~~~

Ruby Tuesday 2

~see more RT2 posts here~

 ~~~
 My Poinsettias finally got zapped a couple nights ago from freezing temps! :( Oh! But they were beautiful for a much longer time than usual this year, so I'm happy! Also, the Azaleas that were bloomed out were killed...although there may be more blooms to come! (but probably not)
For me-I've had enough of this winter thing. We've had just enough cold to make thing look drab and ugly and brown! I'm ready to get things cleaned up-clipped back and green and growing again!
Here are some before and after pics of the Poinsettias. Happy to say my Geranium and Red Bud blooms were not touched at all by the freeze! :)
Happy New Year- ~~food for good luck in the new year
June Kellum
(posted on my Face Book page)
This is our traditional meal for the New Year. It's supposed to bring good luck to those who eat it, for the new year ahead! We do this every January 1st!! Who knows where we might be if we hadn't had this last Jan 1st! :) ... and I'm expecting great things for 2013!! "Blackeyed peas, cooked with hog jawl...some fried as bacon, too...Also mustard and turnip greens...cornbread. We also cooked a pork roast. For good measure and just because I like it-I have a cup of buttermilk with the hot cornbread crumbled in it! :)
Good southern chow but I'm not so sure about the 'good luck' part! ;)
Sad ending ....
 *This is from my FB page today, so I will put it here also*
( my blog, "Our Place")
http://ourplace-junierose2005.blogspot.com/2012/06/camera-critters-june-2-2012-april-in.html
~~a sad-and expensive end to 2012 for us...last night-just after dark- we got a call that one of our young 'heifers' had gotten out of our back pa
sture and got hit by a car and killed! A young girl was driving alone, but, thankfully, was not hurt. Charles went over there-(one street over)-At best we will be out the cost of the young cow...which would have been worth around $700.00 presently) Hopefully, the girl's insurance will cover her damages to her car! (I sure hope so because we can't afford another big bill to pay)
It was a freak thing to happen...sometimes young cows manage to get out, in spite of our best efforts to keep the fences in good shape!...The animal control people were there and Charles was not held responsible for this.
Apart from the $$ part, I am very sad about the loss of this beautiful little cow. She was one of the prettiest ones we've had.
This is a picture of "April" when she was just a day or so old, with her mom, Cloud.
The link to my blog shows a more recent pic of her.
Pink Saturday- Oct 20, 2012 ~Flowers
~~~

~~Go here to see other Pink Saturday posts.~~

~~

Here in north Fl (sadly) we don't get the colorful leaves in autumn.  In fact, it still looks a lot like summer here, but I do notice a slight coolness in the air; especially early mornings.

We still have a lot of flowers blooming, though, and a few are in shades that make me think of the fall colors of the places further north!
...And I DO have fake fall leaves to make my place look festive!
;)

 ~
Here are some of the flowers blooming around our place right now.

There are a few autumn colors among them...right??

Happy autumn day to all of you!

"The Mad Hatter"-from Face Book

 (posted on my Face Book page today)

June Kellum

My granddaughter, Alli, was home for a couple days. She and her mom were working on her costume for a Halloween/masquerade-party/dance at college.

She's very much into Swing Dancing and the ones in charge of the dances sponsor this event
each year for Halloween. The theme this year is "Alice In Wonderland," and the guests were asked to dress as characters from that Tale! Alli chose "The Mad Hatter" as the character she would be.
(partly because she's such a HAT person, anyway!!) :)

Alli and her mom did a great job creating this costume-IMHO- especially as they did most of it while they were babysitting Drakey for Chris, Joy and I to go to that concert Wednesday night!

My Alli is so cool!!
