Retired Police Officers Reunion
Here we are ready for the ride over to Crystal River.
~~~
This yearly RPOR was held this time in Crystal River, which is about an hour's drive from where we are.
It's a 3 day gathering of retired policemen, mostly of south Florida. It was held at a beautiful country club in Crystal river called The Plantation Country Club.
Many come for all of this 3 day event and participate in all of the activities, including golf.
Charles and I had only planned to attend the first day, which was a meet and greet BBQ buffet dinner. The number attending this 'Meet & Greet' was bigger than I had expected. We heard that around 200 were expected for this first day's events.
Charles enjoyed seeing some old friends-men he had known and worked with in Miami (So.Dade county, Fl ) so many years ago.
Some - or most - of these guys he only sees rarely...and some he had not seen in many years! I only know a few of the guys and wives, but I enjoyed the meal and conversations.
Everyone had a great time from what I saw and heard. Lol- Yes - a lot of old memories of the old days, among all the guys.
The dinner of BBQ chicken was good, and with a big assortment of drinks - and several dessert choices to top it all off!
This was my choice!
Here are a few pics of some of the folks!
It's so nice to reconnect with old friends and co-workers. I'm glad you had a good time. The pictures are great. The gentleman with the blue shirt (and stripes) looks so dadgum familiar! I haven't been to Crystal River in forever!
Have a great weekend, Junie; it sure was off to a good start for ya! :)
Hi Sally,
Thanks so much for your comments.
We DID enjoy the day with the old friends of my husband.
That particular guy you mentioned has retired in Sarasota, I believe.
(This man was my husband's first riding partner and C. says, broke him in and taught him what a policeman was supposed to be! He's very highly regarded by my husband-and me too!)
It looks like a very nice reunion!☺
Yep- it was!
That place looks stately. I love places like that.
YUMMY! I'm always interested in hearing about good food and desserts, and I LOVE to eat them.
It is wonderful to have the annual event. Those men have served the people of Florida well over the years. There was a lot of integrity in that room. I highly respect them all - and of course, Charles!!
I think I remember when you posted about this in yrs past! It's good that you make a point of going and reconnecting with your friends!
xo
Thanks
JD
And
Susie
