Crystal River

(From my Face Book page)

Today was a beautiful day here in north Fl. Charles and I decided to enjoy it by taking a long ride over to Crystal River.
(west coast from Ocala)

We wanted to go for lunch at this really good restaurant we've visited a few times in the past. One of their specialities is catfish! That's what I chose and you can see the amount of fish on that plate! LOL- I gave several pieces to Charles. He chose a cheese burger, which he kept saying was the best he had ever had. (however, he also loved my catfish!!) Oh! And we had one of the best cups of clam chowder I've ever had, too!--And a side dish of "delish" mashed potatoes; made from those little red skinned potatoes!!

The scenery over there is very pleasing to see. It's so much fun to take little day trips, even a few miles from home. Not sure how far it is over there...50-60 miles maybe.

We also stopped at a couple yard/garage sales along the way!...Didn't buy much tho! Found a Barbie Doll for me in " Little Debbie" dress...and a little car for Drakey Poo-and Charles found a Hammer that he just had to have! Can't have too many of those around-he says!

All in all- we had a wonderful day! Hope you all did too!

Love,
Junie

Retired Police Officers Reunion

Here we are ready for the ride over to Crystal River.
~~~
This yearly RPOR was held this time in Crystal River, which is about an hour's drive from where we are.
It's a 3 day gathering of retired policemen, mostly of south Florida. It was held at a beautiful country club in Crystal river called The Plantation Country Club.
Many come for all of this 3 day event and participate in all of the activities, including golf.
Charles and I had only planned to attend the first day, which was a meet and greet BBQ buffet dinner. The number attending this 'Meet & Greet' was bigger than I had expected. We heard that around 200 were expected for this first day's events.
Charles enjoyed seeing some old friends-men he had known and worked with in Miami (So.Dade county, Fl ) so many years ago.
Some - or most - of these guys he only sees rarely...and some he had not seen in many years! I only know a few of the guys and wives, but I enjoyed the meal and conversations.
Everyone had a great time from what I saw and heard. Lol- Yes - a lot of old memories of the old days, among all the guys.
The dinner of BBQ chicken was good, and with a big assortment of drinks - and several dessert choices to top it all off!
This was my choice!
Here are a few pics of some of the folks!
...See you all next year! :)
Back home again
We're back and it's always good to come home. We both like our familiar routine here.
He's snoozing in front of the TV while I'm pecking away at my keyboard .
That's ok with both of us-to be able to do the things we find pleasure in and to let the other do likewise. Almost 46 years together has led us to this comfortable place.
Still-we have our fun times together and tonight was one of those...a very special outing for us!
After making that necessary but bothersome stop at the dentist and having my fake-temporary- teeth stuck and secured again, we were off to Crystal River; a little town 50 miles or so from us.
We had been there a few times before and there's a restaurant we like- right by the water. ( KingsBay) Check out the restaurant here!
Every time we've been there the restaurant has been packed! The food is great and the atmosphere is relaxed - excellent and friendly service! Outdoor tables by the water are available . We ate inside but walked around and looked at the boats and the sky, before and after our dinner.
As it turned out- the conditions were not right for the sunset I had hoped for! Not enough sunshine in the day, maybe. At sundown, the sky was just very dark clouds on the horizon... Still, I always find the sky interesting to look at, whatever is there!
I have included some pics of our evening: ( Click to enlarge )
Forgot to mention it was quite breezy by the water-as you can see in the one of me! ;)
I always get excellent pics of Charles - I think it's the beard that does it! :)
OH! That plate of food was MINE! Seafood platter! Superb!
A good night!
Love,
Junie
