Friday's Fences- (for April 19, 2013) Alabama Horses

These fences might seem flimsy for keeping horses in a pasture- but they work just fine! (electric!!)

Both of these pictures were made in Priceville, Alabama, on

 ( separate) visits to my brother and Sister-in-Law's home. 

These horses are in a pasture next to their place. The little boy and his dad, in the 1st picture, are my nephew and his grandson.  The picture of the man feeding apples to the horses is my brother, Ray!

On a recent ride about town with my husband, this fence and gate, enclosing a lovely home, caught my eye! 

 I would say, "This would be a beautifl place to call home!"

Recently, on a Saturday, my husband and I were out for a ride around town.   

We passed this attractive entryway and fence and it caught my attention.

 We stopped to get a better look!

I was impressed!

The house behind the fence was quite impressive too.

 Looks like a castle in a fairy tale...

..well... a modest one, anyway!

Friday's Fences~Aug 10, 2012- Suwannee River

This is part of a fence at a park next to the Suwannee River in north Florida. This Park and this river scene is located near a town named "Old Town." 

We stopped here on our return home from visiting relatives in Milton a couple years ago.

Beyond this fence were  steps that led downward to the river and an observation deck!

It was a lovely place to stop for awhile to enjoy the beauty of nature and the river.

This is another picture from my daughter's recent trip to North Carolina.

This was taken before she met up with the hiking group, as she was out exploring the town and surrounding area a bit!

I'm glad she remembered me and my photo memes each week and got this shot for me to show here.

This is a striking red farm gate, isn't it!!

The field of yellow wildflowers make a beautiful contrast.

This is a common sight around the area where we live in north Florida.

 This farm land is one block over from our place.

Hay harvesting is done in summer and fall.

I love scenes like this, with the  wire fence enclosing the baled rolls of hay!

This was taken late last year, along the road a mile or so from our house.

The Goldenrod growing along the roadside caught my eye and so I asked my husband to stop so that I might get some photos!

I like  scenes like this one, with the natural beauty of what nature  has to offer us, combined with the simple country accessories; in this case the old wooden post and barbed wire fence.

This fence and wildflower scene is from a different year and season here in north Florida...this was summer - not spring!

 I've always liked this pic so decided to share it today for my "Fence Post!"

This ride in the country that day, (on our motorcycle) the beauty and wonder of  it all, gave me the inspiration for this poem.

Roadside Meadow Flowers

Nothing fills me, so,
 with joy that’s most complete,
than roadside, meadow flowers...
 whose names I do not know…
(No pampered garden blossom
 could ever be so sweet)
Their name’s of no importance…
just their golden glow!

Their beauty overwhelms.
 So abundantly they’re sown.
Each golden face turned upward
to catch the warming rays.
There is no grander sight –
 these eyes have ever known.
So to the ‘Master Gardener,’
 I give my love and praise!

This rustic board fence separates our yard on the west side from a wooded lot, and the neighbors, beyond that. I like the privacy it gives us for our patio area.

 This area of the fence is at the front part of the yard.

 Further back on the fence, my husband likes to display old farm collectibles! OK...Just junk to most, but we find this stuff interesting to have around.

This barbedwire fence separates our pasture from our neighbor's property.

This week I was riding with my husband in our pasture,  feeding hay to the cows and checking on them.

I couldn't resist getting a  picture of this pretty country scene,  just outside our pasture, of the fence post and the wild plum tree in full bloom!

Can't fence in these wildflowers ~~~ but who would want to try?

I love seeing them blooming along the roadsides, pastures and open meadows...and just anywhere else they happen to pop up. They bloom in early spring here and last for several weeks!

This picture is from another year but the Phlox (Pinks) will soon put on their show for this year!

They are very special to me!

 This is a pretty country scene from a past summer at our place.

The delicate Crepe Myrtle flowers blooming next to the rustic fence, make an interesting and appealing contrast.
