Poem: Of Butterflies
Of Butterflies
I venture out for photo shots
of butterflies. (sometimes, for hours)
They so enchant, with their gossamer wings,
flitting there, among the flowers.
The colors range from soft to bold.
Some showy as a fine spring day!
Other’s beauty ~ understated ~
still, frilly as a fine crochet.
Some are swift, not pausing long,
to sample blooms along the way.
Others linger, just hanging there,
as if their beauty’s on display.
I stand poised, in wonderment,
and reach to touch that softness there,
~the contact's slight, but oh, so real ~
and know the feel of angel hair!

Such a beautiful poem, dear Junie. I've always been fascinated with butterflies as well.
I'm so glad you liked the birthday card I had for you on my blog...as soon as I saw that girl with the roses, I knew it was perfect for you:-)
Sounds like you had a lovely birthday dinner at Red Lobster...I haven't gone there in ages since I'm not a big seafood fan. I do love their biscuits though! lol Such a beautiful bracelet Charles gave you...also love the flowers.
Hopefully your doctor appointment went well? I spent the day taking everything out of my shed and putting the patio furniture together...so many pieces! Arrrgghhh! lol xoxo
Hi Pea,
Oh yes! I DID love the card you picked for me! :) Thanks- it was just perfect!
I had a very nice birthday and we enjoyed the dinner at Red Lobster.
I thought about you today- working toward having that yard sale! They are always a lot of work. I hope you have a really successful one and make lots of $$$!
My follow-up with the doc today was very good. Will write about it more tomorrow!
Love,
Junie
What a fantastic photo and poem :) I just caught up on your blog and you've got some great shots below as well.
And I used to love Red Lobster. I used to go often, but the ones on the Island have turned to pot :( but we ARE on an island... so good seafood is plentiful :)
B13,
Thanks! :)
Have posted the poem before, but I have a lot of new readers so - here it is again!
Oh- I have heard there are great Sea Food restaurants in your area. I've never been to Long Island and only NYC, once! (long time ago!)
But my Red Lobster dinner was just great this time!!
Thanks for coming over!
Junie
Hi Junie,
I love butterflies too! Your poem is so beautiful. I used to write poetry - I need to get back to it.
I've been away with no computer so I want to wish you a belated happy birthday - it sounds like you had a wonderful time. I LOVE the new bracelet. A new ring for your anniversary and a new bracelet for your birthday - you better hang on tight to sweet Charles - he's a "Keeper" -for sure!
Carletta
Hi Carletta,
Thanks for your wishes for my birthday! It was a happy one-and , Yes- C. is a keeper! (LOL- must be- since we've been married 47 yrs.)
Hope you enjoyed your time away - but you wee missed!
Junie
Junie: Lovely picture and poem today, we don't seem to have as many butterflies as when we were kids. Maybe you do in Florida.
Thanks for stopping by.
Fishing Guy,
The best place I've found for watching butterflies is in Alabama. We visit family there every year in July!
We DO have a good variety here, too!
Junie
Junie Rose, that is a beautiful poem and picture!
Dot,
Thanks! So happy you enjoyed it.
Junie
