Fogelberg vid removed!

:(

I was dismayed to learn that one of my favorite Dan Fogelberg Youtube vids has been removed.

Here are the lyrics to this beautiful song!

Illinois

(Dan Fogelberg)

Dusty day dawning

Three hours late

Open the curtains

And let the rest wait.

My mind goes running

Three thousand miles east

I may miss the harvest

But I won't miss the feast.

Chorus

And it looks like you're gonna

Have to see me again

And it looks like you're gonna

Have to see me again

And it looks like you're gonna

Have to see me again.

Illinois...oh, Illinois.

South California

Your sun is too cold

It looks like your hills

Have been raped of their gold.

I should have come out

When I was first told

This lamb has got to

Return to the fold.

Chorus

Illinois-I'm your boy.

Flat on the prairies

Soil and stone

Stretching forever

Taking me home

'Cause I've got a woman

Who waits for me there

And I need a breath of that

Sweet country air.

Chorus

Illinois-I'm your boy.

Awww what a shame they removed that video. As artsy said, he will be missed. Loved reading your previous post and seeing all those wonderful pictures...how I would have loved to be able to go to that Spring Festival with you! I've never heard of the New Zealand Tea Rose shrub but from the picture, it sure is pretty! I wish you were here this summer to help me plant my faerie garden...I want all roses in there this year:-) Those little bird houses are so adorable, can't wait to see the one Charles bought for you:-) xoxo

Thanks, Artsy and Pea.

It makes me feel good to know Dan Fogelberg had so
many fans.

I'll always miss him- but am thankful that we have so much of his music to enjoy . I, for one, will never get tired of his beautiful music.

Pea I can tell you are wanting spring to get on with it! :) It will!

I only wish I had more energy to do my gardening!

Love,

Junie

Hi Junie,
I posted sometime ago when you had one of your many blogs about my main music man, Dan F. I was so numb for many days following the announcement in December. In January, I found some peace by putting together some shadowboxes of memorabilia that I have. Many thanks to my niece-in-law for her tremendous help! It was fun to sort thru my "stuff" and decide what to put in the shadowbox. For example, one is filled with three guitar pins from the Hard Rock Cafe. Dan had a cream Gibson guitar as part of "The Wall Series" in Iceland HRC (now closed) Some items have been purchased via ebay, of course and some are my very own...such as Photographs by Dan, Summer Tour 1977 and Exiles Tour Book. I have all the Red Herring LP's with DF songs from his days at the University of Illinois, that are in frames. I have an internet photo of The Coachmen, with the one and only "45" in another shadow box. And, on and on...
In addition to Dan, I wanted to comment on Gordon Lightfoot...always liked his music and of course, you must know he was an influence on Dan. My husband and I are also seeing him
(2nd time) next month. We were also turned on to Bruce Cockburn via the cover DF did of his song. We had the pleasure of seeing Bruce live some years ago.
I know this is terribly long, so forgive me for writing a novel on YOUR blog... :-)

Hi,

I'm not sure I have placed but I DID have some comments and email exchanges with a DanFan some time back. Are you the lady who gave me the 'Ever On' website?

I am not at all put off by your long comment post here. It pleases me to know that our wonderful Dan was so loved by so many !

Throughout the approx. 30 years I knew Dan's music I had spread the word of how great he was! He truly was so very talented and so special!

As you know, if you have searched out my blog, I had posted about Dan here numerous times. And, as it happened, I had mentioned Dan's Christmas album just a day or 2 before I heard of his death! I was comforted a little that I had done that!

I know exactly how you felt with the news of Dan's passing. It hit me very hard too, although we expected to get this news!

And - like you -Dan was my #1 man since I first heard his music in the early 70s ! I was so blessed to have been able to see him in concert several times...the last time we saw him was in his 'Full Circle' tour in 2003 - just months before the cancer was discovered! I had planned to see him in the next tour but with his illness it was cancelled! I was just devastated with the news.

Yes, Gordon Lightfoot is a wonderful performer too- and I have read that Dan was influenced by his music in his early years. Also Bruce Cockburn is one that I was drawn to... also Jackson Browne -and you will notice these performers are exceptional song writers, as was Dan Fogelberg!

Song lyrics with a lot of feeling have always been important to me!

Your shadowboxes of your Dan mementos sound great! If you'd like I could post a picture of what you did here!( of course, giving you the credit) But if not, that's fine and I will understand. I know we get some comfort from these kind of things. I got some comfort from just writing about him here on the blog.( and on other websites I visited, too)

Isn't it wonderful that we will have one last cd from Dan!! And the one song that Jean was so kind to share is very beautiful!

Thanks so much for writing and I hope to hear from you again.

Junie
