Shadow Shot Sunday~ 2-13-11 ~ Heart Shadows

Today was a beautiful, sunny day here and as my husband and I were going out this morning I noticed this shadow on the foyer floor.

This is the shadow of my Valentine Heart wreath on my window/front door! I thought it looked pretty cool so got a couple of quick shots of it.

I didn't notice until I uploaded the pics from my camera but if you look closely you will see another small heart shape in the upper part of both pictures. Not sure how this came to be...I have plants on a table by the front windows  and somehow this little heart shape was formed!

Ginga's Valentine

In 1986, from Jan 22 to Feb 11, We were visiting our daughter, son-in-law and our first 2 grandsons at Fort Ord, Ca.

They had moved out to Ca just a month before. Tina and the babies had lived with us
( or near us) most of the 3 years since the birth of Dan. (our first grandchild) I had taken care of the boys for my daughter to work.

Needless to say, it was tough on the old grandparents to have these 2 fine boys move away! ....And we didn't wait very long to visit them - our first of 2 visits to Ca. I was able to stay a few extra days and fly back later by myself!

My little 'grand boys' were just under one and three years. Brian learned to walk while I was there. (9-1/2 mo.) Dan would be 3 in March.

You can tell by this picture with the boys, that this was just where I wanted to be! I had found my calling in being a grandmother!...Dan gave me the name 'Ginga,' so that was who I  would be to the 3 'grands' that came after him, too! :) I loved that special name he gave me!

A few days after my sad but inevitable return home I got this Valentine from my sweet kids! Tina had made heart cookies for the boys and she asked Dan what she should write on them. Dan said, "write -I Love Ginga!" She did and mailed this very special Valentine to me! I spray varnished it and bought a little holder to hold it upright and put it in one of my doll cabinets! I have kept it there for 21 years!

This is one of my most cherished Valentines!

It's a losing game around here! (Family stuff)

The girls came by earlier this morning with their scale to weigh us all in!

Yep-those skimpy lobster tails helped me I guess because my weight was down 2 lbs! :)
Yayyy for Junie Rose!

Actually, it's the cutting back of carbs and sweets that's doing the trick! I haven't had anything chocolate or sweet since Valentine's Day!

( How can one NOT eat a Valentine gift of chocolate truffles? haha...but MOST went in the freezer for when I get back into a size 8 ;) ) Hey- it's good to have dreams-RIGHT?

Anyway, Tina and Alli were on their way to Gainesville to visit with the boys! Dan & Bri were down last weekend and it was wonderful seeing them again! This pic is blurred but it's my 2 oldest boys who I love and miss very much and I want to put it here!















Dan will be having a birthday on the 16th. I hope we can all get together to celebrate near that date.
(but no cake and Ice cream for me)

With that in mind, here I am trying to get together a RED post ~ no matter the lateness of the hour on this Tuesday!

The oval shape through the stained glass made this heart design when it moved to the corner of the 2 walls!

I think it's pretty neat and I have been having fun with enhancing the light and color in the image! :)

Bits and pieces of my night

Oh!
Yes, as expected...the little nap of yesterday afternoon prevented my getting to bed early...or even considering it! I knew it would...but -oh, well!! That's just the way it is these days and I can't worry about it! I'll sleep when I feel like it-and blog when I feel like it...or read or do music listens or whatever strikes my fancy- on my own time schedule ~ when I feel like it!

The sleepless time was well spent and the night of music ended once again with my favorite Rock band - The Who!

... Watched some Videos... 'See Me-Feel Me- Touch Me- Heal Me' - at Woodstock. Great fun!

This band has had a fantastic career and I'm so happy I finally got to see them last year...( Yes, pretty much at their end, I believe!) Am still looking forward to the DVD from the concert that we saw in Tampa last year.

...and my reading time came, too- I'm into Stephen King's latest book... 'Duma Key,' which is set on Florida's Gulf coast (not his more often used, Maine coast) This book, as could be expected, is shaping up to be an intriguing read! :) I wouldn't expect anything less from Stephen King!
This book has more than 600 pages! Yikes! Will take me forever but it will be an adventure, I'm sure! Stephen King has been one of my top favorite writers for...oh - a very long time! I have read almost everything he has out there!

My OTHER #1 writer is Dean Koontz. These 2 have gone far toward keeping me entertained on my sleepless nights for the past 30 + years. I'm just guessing at the number of years but, surely, it must be close to that!

Before that there were others, of course, because reading has always been a big part of my life! Having a book by my bedside has been the normal thing all of my life! Poe was one of my earlier favorites! :) You get an idea of the kind of stories I like, ehh?

:) So enough rambling for now. I have to do dishes and then consider what Time I need to take up my book and start the journey toward my night!

Oh, and
Valentine's Day is near. ...Charles and I have no plans and, in fact, I have not even been able to shop for a card or gift for him! I have been without a car for almost 2 weeks now- so that's my excuse :) My grandson had to borrow my car while his truck is in the shop!

(Yes! I'm not a bad Ginga! )

Anyway, about the Valentines...I will just have to tell him I love him, I guess! That'll work! Maybe it will!

This is the most beautiful love song ever written! It has been one of my favorite's of Dan Fogelberg since the first time I heard it all those many years ago! (Mid 70s)

I only wish this was an actual performance of Dan singing this on stage.
Nevertheless- this song is perfection!
