Today was a happy day, as I found an old friend I had lost touch with many years ago!

This is our 7th. grade picture...I am the 4th from the left (front row) and my friend behind me is 'Mary.' It's so good to connect with friends from so long ago! :) Thanks, Mary, I enjoyed the long chat today!

Note:

This was probably in '54-'55 school year. I was age 13, I believe.

Funny, I remember ALL the girls but only a couple of the boys!  LOL- Guess I hadn't yet discovered 'Boys!'

I searched for hours to find this group of pictures from my granddaughters kindergarten class. (or maybe it was 1st grade)

 I remember this little project had to do with '100 items.' The children were to make a little parade on wheels with 100 items of their choice - glued to something that had wheels!  :) It may have been to mark 100 days in school..( this was in Feb,1997)...I just can't remember the details. (and Alli is away at college and I can't ask her  :)  )

Look closely and you can see that Alli used 'Happy Meal' toys to make up her float for the parade! Luckily for her she had 2 brothers before her who had consumed a lot of kid's meals before she came along!  She might have been shy a few without their help!  :)

(But maybe NOT!)

 

 Oh! I miss those fun days!!

Today my granddaughter sent me these pictures from her college campus in Orlando-UCF.

She thought I might want to show them here and of course I do!

I was pleased she was able to pause for a few moments and reflect on that terrible day in our history!

This is my first baby girl.

Tam came to us in 1962! Oh, my - and what a sweet little baby she was!

Her brother, Christoper, was just 3 years older and he would soon have-not one, but- 2 baby sisters ! My second baby girl, Tina, came along about 15 months after Tammy!

You may have noticed I posed Tam with a rose! :)
I have always loved this photo.

Who would have thought- on this happy day of playing with and posing my new baby girl -that in just a few short years down the road of life...she would be going off to college in NYC!

I tell you -THAT was a hard one - letting her go to that big, distant city....but she had her heart set on her plan to go to FIT !

Well, it enabled us to see that city - at least one time!

This was taken on my one and only trip to NYC, in 1982. We were there with our daughter who was getting settled into FIT college.

Can you see the real me? Can you - can you?


Hint:

I am on the front or middle row! hahaha!
And please don't mistake me for that prissy old teacher! :) Can't remember her name...I keep thinking ..."Mrs.Smith?"...Oh well...I DO remember I didn't like her much.
( I was new to the school- very shy -very poor - very insecure . Not a happy little school girl in those days.)

This was 5th. grade - 1952
The girl I am sitting next to became my very best friend for the next few years. Her name was Annie! SO-things got better for me.

Oh! Where have all those girls and boys gone! I remember almost all the names but have kept in touch with just a few!

I heard Annie passed away last year and it made me very sad because we hadn't kept in touch!

Well, this is sad and I wonder what brought me down this road tonight. Sometimes the past has a way of bringing me down...

Remembering Mrs.Warren

We all seem to be bringing back memories from our past so here am I...

Remembering Mrs. Warren...

my 7th. Grade, home ec. teacher - all those decades ago!

Oh, my!

I wonder if she’s remembered as fondly by my old classmates, as she is by me!
I think so! I bet she is!

Mrs.Warren was a bit of a character- a little pixie kind of lady! To 13-14 year old girls
she seemed old, but looking backward from HERE I realize she was probably mid 40s
at the most!

She was a most excitable type and was always misplacing things and getting in a bit of a lather!

Once she LOST her glasses and had the whole class searching…everyone equally reluctant to tell
her where they were… which was pushed up to the top of her head! :)
Finally she discovered this on her own!
Did she find that amusing? As I recall, she was totally without a sense of humor!
However, smiles were quickly hidden behind hands and giggles, somehow, held in check! At least
until after the class was over!

From the home ec. center we could see the boys practicing on the football field! Kinda hard to keep
your mind on hemming a skirt when it was HIM you wanted to be watching! The work room had
windows that could be easily opened…and it was a short distance from the boys practice field…and
Mrs. Warren was…well... ‘Mrs.Warren’ …a little lax when it came to keeping tabs on her girls! ;)
She was in and out of the room a lot! Maybe taking a little nip, for all I know!
(Might explain some of the weird things she did)

SOME of the girls decided to slip out the window and watch the boys, when the teacher stepped out of
the room! …A daring thing to do but since it was near the end of the class period, worth the risk,
we thought-err-THEY thought!

Was I among them? I ‘m not telling! ;) Mrs. Warren might still be around, for all I know...with her wooden
spoon in hand!

One thing for sure, Mrs. Warren taught us all how to get our spatulas all lined up in a row! ;)

OH!!! Seeing the pic of the heavy books we had to lug around has
brought back one more memory.
(we did not have back packs or lockers in those days in 7th. grade, so had to keep
all our books with us all through the day and take them home at night!)

One day, just like this one in the picture, at the end of the day as we were
walking to wait for the bus home, a boy deliberately knocked my books,
notebooks and papers out of my arms! Just a little boyish prank which I did
not find at all funny! I fought back tears as I scurried to gather my papers and books,
as he laughed and ran away!

"Chet", hope all your adult days have been spent in some boring job that you hate,
pushing papers for someone else! ...And I hope that event that day in school was the
most excitement you ever achieved in life! :)

Lol- I don't forget things easily!, 'Chet!'
