Goodbye to Sweet Cassie~

(From my FB page yesterday)

It was a sad day here-especially for my Son-in-law, Marc!He had to say his final goodbye to his good dog, Cassie. She had been his riding companion for many years and I know he will miss her so much! We all will miss Cassie. She was a sweetie and totally loyal to Marc.

 One happy autumn day- in a far away place and time- playing and relaxing after a day of riding...
A good rest at night - while on the road...

Home for a few days, eating with the new kid-"Cooper"...
Eating a good meal on her final trip home...

You were well loved!
R.I.P., sweet Cassie girl.
Note:
 Cassie had a long life and a happy one so I'm trying not to be so sad...but it's always a hard thing!

Sad ending ....

 *This is from my FB page today, so I will put it here also*

( my blog, "Our Place")

~~a sad-and expensive end to 2012 for us...last night-just after dark- we got a call that one of our young 'heifers' had gotten out of our back pa
sture and got hit by a car and killed! A young girl was driving alone, but, thankfully, was not hurt. Charles went over there-(one street over)-At best we will be out the cost of the young cow...which would have been worth around $700.00 presently) Hopefully, the girl's insurance will cover her damages to her car! (I sure hope so because we can't afford another big bill to pay)

It was a freak thing to happen...sometimes young cows manage to get out, in spite of our best efforts to keep the fences in good shape!...The animal control people were there and Charles was not held responsible for this.

Apart from the $$ part, I am very sad about the loss of this beautiful little cow. She was one of the prettiest ones we've had.

This is a picture of "April" when she was just a day or so old, with her mom, Cloud.

The link to my blog shows a more recent pic of her.

He's been gone for, oh, so many years now! Still, I think of you Daddy, and sometimes even see you in my dreams. We never forget the people we have loved in our lives-no matter how many years may pass!

Mom's Christmas flowers-2011

The month of December is 'getting on with it,' and I'm falling behind with everything - even more so than usual!

  I decided I needed to get Mom's Christmas flowers out  today, before time completely got away from me!  Charles was happy and willing to take me, and we had an enjoyable time together, though, of course, it was shadowed with some sadness.  Still, I felt better, having brightened that little spot up for this holiday!

~Love and miss my Mom~

~~~
On a lighter note...
On the way out we were riding behind this
' Country Redneck's' pickup!
  We got a kick out of this elaborately decorated truck,  but I was only able to get a good look and picture of the back!
It's interesting and often, amusing,  to see the diversity of people! What turns one person on, another may find silly or trite...or a total waste of money!
Oh well, I'm not much of a pick-up kind of person anyway...well lighted and decorated, or not!!
:)
( PS-can you read that sign?)
Pretty cool!
"9-11" ~ 10th Anniversary
Sept 10, 2011
(posted on FB for...)
*10th Anniversary*
Sarah's beautiful song is perfectly suited as the music for these images of 9-11 - a day in our history that none of us will ever forget.
As hurtful as pictures of this day are, I will always feel compelled to remember and review and reflect., especially on the anniversary. I feel we owe that to the people who lost their lives so needlessly on that fateful day 10 years ago.
Andrew Gold-R.I.P.
Andrew Gold-R.I.P.
by June Kellum on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 7:13pm
(Facebook)
Just heard the sad news that Andrew Gold has died. (I assume it was today, but I can't find it in the news.)
Back in the 70's my teenage son suggested Andrew Gold's music to me-knowing I would like it! My son, Chris, was right, as he usually was about picking music for me!
( Info from Wikipedia)
Andrew Maurice Gold (born August 2, 1951) is an American singer, musician and songwriter. His work includes the Top 10 single "Lonely Boy" (1977), as well as single "Thank You for Being a Friend" (1978) and "Never Let Her Slip Away" (1978).
Enjoy the video -"Lonely Boy."
Catch-up post and feeling sad...
~~~
Well, I tell you, it's lonely around this place these days...with my sweet Tiger gone.

  Lucy and Tiger had become good pals and little Lucy seems to miss him. I know animals feel similar emotions that we humans do, but I hope not as long and not as intense!

 Tiger and Lucy

~~~
These were in Feb 2011
Lucy
Tiger
General
...To make things worse for Lucy, General has taken to spending a lot of time at Chris and Joy's house...OK- My son's house is here on our place...This whole property is about 4-1/2 acres...Our house is at the front and theirs is on the back half.
I haven't seen General at all today, and while I don't mind for myself
(because Chris loves that cat)
I feel sorry for little Lucy.  I'm thinking I might get Lucy a new kitty sister if I can!
Life is sad!
~~~
Lately I have had overwhelming spells of sadness and  restlessness...and nights without much sleep...
Too many things happening of a worrisome nature...Just life doing it's thing...but sometimes it's hard- especially when things overlap as they have been doing for me recently. You barely get accustomed to one new upset or change  and you're faced with yet another! The  poor sleep I'm getting is probably the worst thing going right now for me...and I hope I can  improve on that.  Today I went shopping (a big grocery shop trip) and on the way home I almost dozed off driving. I actually crossed the center line...scared me a lot!!

~~~
OK-On a happier note:
Yesterday evening I suggested we go out for dinner and we asked Tina to go with us.
It was a happy couple hours spent with our girl. We went to Applebee's and we all enjoyed it a lot.
The food was excellent and not expensive.
(always a good thing these days)
This is what I had... a Cajun shrimp and pasta dish...and we also had this Spinach-Artichoke dip with chips! These are 2 of my favorite things!!
:)
If I could have a good meal like that every night, maybe I could keep smiling!
;)
Love,
Junie
Life is sad....
~~~
Life is so sad...and the unexpected sad happenings always manage to take us/me by surprise.
You (or I) go along, lost in our/my day to day trivial pursuits - mostly happy tidbits of life...taking everything for granted...not fully even realizing how important a situation or person or PET is in our/my life!
Then-WHAM! It's over and you are lost once again in your grief! You can't retrieve what's lost-no matter how much you wish you could!
All you can do is endure-get through it, somehow!
~
We have lost our sweet Tiger ~ World's Sweetest Cat!

~
 ~Tiger and I were checking out our wildflower meadow last spring~

~~~
~Our Tiger~
These are mostly recent pics
He wanted always to be near us, whatever we were doing, and would follow us around the property; even riding the golf cart with us to the pasture to check on the cows! These pics with the Wisteria are recent-and tho, NOT good of Charles or me, I'm so glad I have them.
Few could resist Tiger...even Non-cat people loved the old boy...
These 2 family members ARE cat lovers,for sure. All the others in our family loved him too- but these are the pics I found in my files-so I will post them here.
(Remembrance for our Tiger)
~~
(My son, Chris and granddaughter, Alli)
Tiger was a most loving cat ~ Note how he is stroking Chris' face.  That was one of his most endearing little things he did!
Tiger loved his mates a lot, also!
Goodbye, sweet boy!
