Real Good Looking Boy
One more post about Elvis! (sort of!)
This is a song by Pete Townshend/The Who. The 'Real Good Looking Boy' of the title is Elvis Presley.
Real Good Looking Boy
When I think back to the
first time in my childhood
When I saw that face
I thought right then,
'That's a real good looking boy.'
I saw myself in the mirror
in profile
for the first time
I thought,
'Hey! That's a real good looking boy'
And I felt then
that I moved
With all those lucky bucks and angels
High in the theatre
In the sky
So I went to my mother
I said,
'Hey mom - take look at me'
Have you ever seen a teen
Fly so high?
That's a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy
She said,
'Son, well, you know,
you're an ugly boy.
You don't really look like him.
In this long line
There's been some
real strange genes
You've got 'em all
You've got 'em all
With some extras thrown in
That's a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy
Wise men say
Only fools, only fools rush in
But I - I give in
Falling in love, in love with you
Now I'm here with you little darling
And you say, 'You're beautiful as you are'
And I've managed somehow to survive
You arrived in my life like a fragrance
And helped me find a way to laugh
And I know now so-called beauty lies
God gave him a face
Then he gave me something above
God gave me grace
Then he gave me your sweet, sweet, sweet love
You make me feel like a real good looking boy
I feel like a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy

I was surprised ,when I went searching for these lyrics, to find such a large number of songs have been written about Elvis.

About THE WHO-
I have become a huge fan of The Who, and several other bands and music groups of the 60s & 70s! in the past couple years (Yah-I know I'm a bit late! :) but during the time it was actually happening I was too busy raising my kids to be into music that much!
...but- think of this... It's all NEW to me now and I have so much yet to discover! And I am!! Am enjoying it so much! I've been directed to some great music by some ppl on a music forum I was a part of for awhile!
The Who is probably my favorite-of the 'NEW' music I have found! :) At least of the LOUD Rock and Roll!
'The Who' are touring later this year - Am hoping to see them but doubt if I can manage to do it! :(
I would like that to happen more than anything! This will probably be their last tour!

You have got me thinking back to the old days. My taste in music went from Everly Brothers to R & B during my Army years of '59 to '62. There were few of the #1 hits that I liked back then as I usually opted for the Blues and Soul. Then it slowly changed toward gospel, black and white. Today I will occasionally listen to a ballad (still like "the Rose" by Bette Midler) but I'm mostly into contemporary gospel. ec
During those years that you mention, and until the mid 70s, I listened mostly to country, as it was what my husband liked!
...:) not until my son was a teen did I get back into the pop-rock music and then just the soft sound of rock & roll
(except of course, there was Elvis)
My son introduced me to, I think, just the music he was sure I'd like...My 2 favorites of the early 70s became Dan Fogelberg and Jackson Browne and they have both remained favorites for 30 years!
NOw, tho, I am finding there are several decades of good music that I have missed:) I even , for the most part, missed Beatles! :)
I am just trying to 'catch up' on the music I missed-and having so much fun doing it, too!
