-Michael Crichton~ And our life goes on...

I'm very saddened to hear this news. I have enjoyed reading this author's novels for a long time!

~~~
Author Michael Crichton has died at age 66 after "a private battle with cancer." Crichton's career was probably one of a kind: After training as a doctor at Harvard and working as a fellow at the Jonas Salk Institute, he became a bestselling author, then a successful screenwriter, award-winning movie director and TV producer. The move "Jurassic Park," based on his book and on which he shared screenwriting credit, is the No. 10 top grossing film of all time.
Today I went shopping for a few items for an upcoming trip next week. With all that has been going on with the election I have not even mentioned this bit of happy news... I will get to it soon - explain this FUN trip coming up...
~~~

First let me just say that I'm hoping things will go well with the new president. I HOPE all my fears have been without substance! We will soon know in what direction Obama will lead the country.

It was sad , driving around my world today and seeing all the signs still up for McCain/Palin. Our area here seemed to be overwhelmingly for the Republican ticket, and I was disappointed and really surprised that our state of Fl went Blue!
(I wish we could have at least held on to that)

America has made the choice and we ALL will have to follow the majority- where ever the direction leads. I hope and pray it will be good for us all!

OK- about that trip...

...My granddaughter entered (AND WON!!) a contest by making a video HERE (Please watch in high quality)
and the prize was an all expense paid trip (for 3) to Dallas,Tx- for Plain White T's concert! Part of the deal is that Alli, my granddaughter, will sing onstage with this band at this show! :)

This is her favorite band, of course, and she and her mom have seen them a LOT of times! I never have seen them but I like the music Alli has introduced me to!! She's often said, 'Ginga, you'd like these guys!'

Well...I'm about to find out, come next Tues. Alli invited me to be the #3 person in this package! :) We'll fly out Tuesday and return on Thursday!

Also...Alli was told that a camera crew will be filming her and her 2 guests (Tina and me) Yikes!! haha- I hope I don't make a complete fool of myself for this Plain White T's video!! HAHA-I'm gonna be a STAR!! ;)

~~~ Actually, I'm not too thrilled with this but you know me~ I'll give it my best shot!~~~
I have not flown in over 23 years...but I'm looking forward to the adventure.
A shame about Michael Chrichton.
KY was the first red state to pop up on the big map they had on the news of the election. Now it's over and I just hope the changes Obama talked about are good ones! In time we'll find out.
How exciting for Allie!! I know you'll have a wonderful trip!!
Allie won - oh WOW! I really thought her video was good.
How exciting for all of you.
Yes, it is sad about Michael Crichton. Hard to think he wasn't that old.
I hope our country is on the right road - I was watching today to see those called to serve with Obama. That makes a big difference to me.
:) Thanks very much to all of you who left comments!
Yes- it will be a quick but fun trip!
Alli- is thrilled to pieces, of course!
I loved the video she did but I'm her granny so I would! ;) ...but I DO believe I can go beyond that fact and see that she did good! The editing/ filming I thought was excellent-and she looks so fresh and sweet and sings sweet too! ;0 also, I was pleased she wanted to do it at our place!
As for the political situation... we have to deal with what we have and hope for the best... Mind you-I am NOT convinced, not by a long shot! Time will tell-and maybe a shorter time than we expect!
