June Kellum
(from FaceBok)

I guess if you happen to be a boy fascinated with cars, trucks, tractors and motor cycles (or anything with wheels and a motor) you would not pass up a chance to take a ride...even if the "RIDE" is pink and small!

This is a collector car
my husband has had on his shelf for many years, and Drake spotted it and wanted to play with it!

 We thought he would just push it around the floor with his vooom vooom motor going ...but he actually wanted to ride it, himself! He got on it and waved to us and said "Bye!!"

Ruby Tuesday~ April 10, 2012- (About Tina's backpacking trip)

~~~
~~
My daughter Tina ~the adventurer~ has an  approx 50 mile backpacking hike in the Smokey Mountains,coming up April 28th.
 She set up her camping tent to show us this weekend, in our back yard.
The backpack will be over 40 lbs-
These are her cool red boots!  :)
 Tina is very excited about this event!
The only thing that would make it more exciting for her is if her daughter, Alli, could be going with her; but Alli can't go because of her college  obligations.
~
Tina will drive to Tn  where the group will meetup and be taken to the point where they will begin the hiking trip the next day.
 They will sleep in small tents (which they carry) 3 (or maybe it's 4) nights and will sleep one night in a rustic cabin! (with no electricity) They will hike  almost 50 miles over this time period of 5 days!!
Does this sound like fun? :) She thinks so...
I'd be remembering all those scary movies I've seen about hikers and campers around a campfire at night...and bears and mountain lions...and worse....that guy in the hockey mask!
~~
Read all about it here!
This is the map of the hike-with each day marked in a different color.
Happy Leap Day!
(from my Face Book page)
Leap day
Main article: February 29 (Wikipedia)
February 29 is a date that usually occurs every four years, and is called leap day. This day is added to the calendar in leap years as a corrective measure, because the earth does not orbit around the sun in precisely 365 days.
‎....and, ladies...This is the day to get your man!
Mellow Yellow Monday-Ruby Tuesday-Midweek Blues-"NYC Subways"
~~~

~

~~~My pics will be grouped in Yellows-Reds and Blues~~~
~
Without the NY subways it would not have been possible for us to  see and do all the things we did in 4 days... at least, not possible for the senior lady in the group!
My daughter, Tina, did a lot of research and planning  before our trip and she knew exactly where we were at any given time and knew which subway we'd need to take to get to where we wanted to go....and how far the walk would be to get to the subway station!  My girl is truly amazing!
(On the other hand-I was lost the whole time I was there...I just left it to the girls to figure things out!)
We found riding the subways a fun experience....lol- not at all like it is so often shown  to be in movies or TV shows; with unsavory characters running through all the connected cars with guns!  :)  We did see some interesting guys, though,  entertaining the passengers with their music - a wide variety!
This one act we got a picture of was fun!!  :)
We saw 2 or 3 others during our rides around the city!
ALSO-
We were surprised at some of the interesting art displays at the stations and I will share some  here.
(For Midweek Blues)
Still- even with the subway system, (and all those steps down and up again)  a LOT of walking is involved in a visit to NYC! Lol- and at the end of the day you have tired feet!!
  ( Those feet in the white Nikes were especially tired!)
:)
Junie
Statue of Liberty
~~
The 9-11 Memorial site and the Statue of Liberty  were the two things I had looked forward to most of all on our trip to NY.  We were able to  accomplish both,  but on different days!
Both required high security checks of visitors, the same as boarding checks at the airports.
 The lines were long to get in (both places) but we didn't mind . These places were always at the top of our 'must see' list.
~The day we did this tour was a beautiful, blue sky day!~
On our way!
 Waiting for the return ride back to shore...
this is me resting on a bench only provided for SENIORS!!  :)
  Who says it's not COOL getting old!!  LOL!
 What a thrilling experience this day was!
(Next post-9-11 Memorial site)
