Thanks!

Some time back I got these two awards from two of my very special blog girlfriends here in Blog Land!

With all the personal things happening in my life recently I hadn't taken the time to say 'Thanks' to either of these ladies ~ much less, pass on the awards to others.

Well, today I AM saying 'Thanks' to Merle and to Pea for thinking my blog is worthy of recognition. I'm happy with all the awards I have been given by other bloggers!

Roxy Music ~ Bryan Ferry

Roxy Music, anyone?

This is a band my son always liked and I never paid much attention to in the early days!

Oh, my goodness! What was I thinking?

These are some very wonderful songs here!

The first 3 songs on my list are 'Roxy Music.'

Enjoy!

As for me, I'm heading over to Youtube to see what I can find of this band!

Visitors this weekend! (and UPDATE! )

Well, I tell you- Charles and I have been working like crazy the past 2 days, trying (in vain??) to get this old house pulled together for company this weekend.

Problem is, we are both collectors of 'stuff' ... things we like-PLUS-all the paper misc. that comes in the mail and of which I don't always know just what to do with- where to put it- or IF it should be saved or what!!

It seems the older we get the more complicated life becomes!! As we get LESS able to deal with things there are MORE things dumped on us! LOL! Is this just ME or is it really the way things are??

I have sworn off magazines for awhile...in fact am letting my 'Country Home' and 'Country Living' subscriptions expire! Have a huge box of them, too heavy to lift, ready to go...somewhere ; either in the shed to sell at a yard sale for a quarter each- lol- and even at that, I would get rich- or donated to a thrift shop! Also...a TON of books have accumulated here. These I will have to find time to go through and organize the ones I want to keep. This will have to be later. For now, many are boxed and stashed away in closets!

With my son recently moving (from my upstairs) into our small rental house, I have had a whole lot of de-cluttering and rearranging of stuff - to make those rooms usable up there.

We moved stuff around downstairs, too. These 2 cabinets I am able now to use for my little music center and have arranged all my CDs here-where I can find just what I want real fast and easy!

I made this picture last night with my computer camera. Of course, it's reversed, in real life here! I don't know how to flip the picture. I know there's a way and I have been shown how to do it but ...I don't remember! Just use yer imagination!
( I'm OLD...gimmee a break, will ya! haha )

The little desk will be where I will do my bills! Sorry- if it won't fit in that small space and those tiny drawers it will go in the trash! YEP!

Our expected company is my brother and sister-in-law from Alabama and a few days later my sister and brother-in- law from NC are coming too! We are hoping to have a mini-family reunion while they are here, with folks coming from south and central Florida and my sister and BIL who live here in Ocala-and all of my family! This, we hope, will come to be on Feb 7th! We'll see how it goes!

Oh! It's a rainy-gloomy day here! We need the rain, but still... NOT my favorite kind of day! Supposed to get colder again, too!

Well, seems the oranges didn't do too well with the recent freeze, after all. I tried doing some for juice and , even tho I cut off the soft part at the stem...the juice doesn't taste right! :( Charles says it's ok...but my taste buds know what Honey Bell juice is supposed to be!... Have to give it up and forgetaboutit! There's always next year!

~~~
Have a good day,
Junie Rose
Update:
Tonight we learned that my brother and sister-in-law will have to postpone their visit again as my SIL has developed a medical problem that has to be taken care of!
:( We hope they can make this visit in the near future!
~~~

The visit of my sister and BIL in NC is still on. (as far as I know). That will be next Saturday!

Orlando visit (family stuff)

That Orlando Cat, 'Mittens!'

On Sunday we were invited to our daughter and SIL's home in Orlando for a belated birthday lunch/celebration for our daughter, Tina.

Charles and I drove down in our car and Tina and Alli drove their car. Tina's sons were not free to come and Zach (Tammy's son) also had to work! Not at all like the old days when the kids were still 'KIDS.' That's the way it goes...constant changes!

Oh-but I'm rambling as usual - in these family things...

Anyway, we had a very enjoyable time with the ones able to be together on that day!

Tam and Terry fixed us a delicious meal- as usual-and had a beautiful cake for Tina!

Here are some pics from our day!

We all went by Zach's work place to visit with him for a little while, too. I was glad we got to see him.

On our trip home -in addition to those Flame Vine Flowers I already posted about- we also saw a very beautiful sunset across a lake! I will show you those pictures for my 'Sky Watch Friday' post! :)
Just HAVE to share it!

Love,
Ginga

Today's Flowers

Today I'm joining in the sharing of flowers!

Go here for more flowers around the world.

~~~
This is the 'Flame Vine!'
It grows in our area of central Florida
and is in full bloom this time of year!
It makes a spectacular display of bright orange blooms,
climbing into the highest trees!
We saw these plants growing along the roadway today, as we were heading home to Ocala ; after a visit with family in Orlando.
I had to stop for these photos!
James Taylor
Last night a friend mentioned this story to me - knowing it would interest me since I am a big fan of James Taylor!
I liked this a lot. I hope you will enjoy reading it, too! (and listening to the songs of James that I have at the top of my song list now.)
I always knew James Taylor had to be a nice guy to sing as beautifully as he does! :)
TAYLOR-MADE HERO
JAMES: I'LL REPLACE CAB-CLASH GAL'S IPOD
How sweet it is to be loved by James Taylor!
The legendary folk singer yesterday came running to the rescue of a California woman forced by Port Authority cops to hand over her iPod to a cabby after the taxi's credit-card reader declined her card.
Taylor promised to send Natalie Lenhart a brand new music player filled with his songs, as well as a personal note.
Read the rest of the story here.
Another icy day!
OK~
Alli - after reading my post today- reminded me of this other winter when we had icicles hanging from the citrus trees.
Actually, this was in our neighbor's yard.
Our neighbors had hoped to save these young orange trees from the freeze that had been predicted by running a sprinkler during the night.
When we saw this the next morning, Alli, of course, wanted to get some pics taken with this unusual sight! :)
...And I bet you folks thought we Floridians are only about SUNSHINE and BLUE SKIES!! ;)
Cold OJ ?
Last night we had freezing temperatures! Charles put the sprinkler on to run through the night on our Honey Bell orange tree. This is what we saw this morning! Some of our fruit is lost I feel sure, but we hope, not all!
Another cold night ahead, too! :(
Happy Birthday Tina Shell
January is not ALL sadness!
:)
January 21, 1964 was a happy time for me. It was the day my third child
( and my second daughter) was born; perfect and beautiful!
This baby came just 15 mo. after her sister...so I have to say I was a bit overwhelmed...especially with having a boy child, too, barely 4 when Tina came to us!
Oh! But I was thrilled and completely wrapped up in my babies! :) It was the best time of my life!
In those days a baby's gender was not determined before birth. I like it that way and probably would not have wanted to know in advance, even if I could have! I liked the anticipation of waiting and wondering...considering both boy's and girl's names.
My first baby girl I named Tammy, so I thought of cute names to go with this one- since these little girls would be close in age!
(subconsciously, I may have been thinking of my sister and me...being close in age and being named June and Joy. Those two names were usually said together-all through our young years! ~ as in, "June and Joy are sooo pretty!" lol! Or..."June and Joy,"Stop fighting!")
Tina was my first choice for a girl's name. I remember liking Andrew and William and Gordon for a boy's name! My son was named Christopher (and became Chris right from the start) so none of those boy names would have gone well as a sidekick... :)
I guess it worked out better that my third child was a girl ! :0
I named her Tina...so, it was to be I would have 2 little blond 'look-a-likes' with cute little names that went well together! Tammy & Tina!
However...being the way both Charles and I are about nick-names...within the family, my kids were to also become known as...
Chris :
BIP (sometimes-Bipper or Do-Bipper)
Tammy:
Tammy Boo, or Tam Boo ( Tina gave her big sis the name of 'Didda'...and she's still called that .)
Tina:
Tina Shell, Shell, Shelly, Tiger, Tina Tiger, Teeny Shell, Teeny, Teen
('Shell' because her middle name is Michelle, 'Tiger' because she loved to see the tigers at the zoo and would make the cutest scary tiger faces ~ on command! :) )
Oh! Those were happy times! There was nothing missing from my life at that time! My babies were my ALL!
Tina is just 3 mo. old here with her brother and sister on opposite sides of ' Mom and baby!'
...And one of Dad with the kiddies.
Happy Birthday,
' Tina Shell ! '
Love,
Mom
Still here...
Peaches and me, in younger days...
I want to leave a quick note today to let those who may be concerned about me
(especially SKYE) know that I'm still here and will be back posting when I can.
'Peaches' is still with me, for I have lacked the will or courage to bring it to a close. I have been hoping I can, somehow, help her through this...or that she will just pass on, naturally.
This has been the hardest thing for me...
Ruby Tuesday ~ Jan 13, 2009~
Ruby Tuesday is here again!
This is when we can post our pictures of things with a little or a lot of red!
Visit Mary, The Teach, to find more and to see how you can join in the fun with your own red pictures!
~~~

...a few remnants of my Christmas just passed...

...and my sweet little 'Peachy-Poo' and me on Christmas Eve...

Note:

Today I am very sad about my little girl because I know the time is near when I will have to let her go. She is almost 13 years old and is not doing well at all...(just these past 3 weeks)

It's always the hardest thing for me to give the word- but I know I must! She's my baby girl.
