Yellow is such a happy color and so summery!!

A couple days ago my husband and I were riding the golf cart on the next street over from our place, when we came upon this scene.

The Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) is a bird found throughout most of the Americas. It is also known in some North American regions as the turkey buzzard (or just buzzard), and in some areas of the Caribbean as the John crow or carrion crow.

This is not one of my favorite birds to watch but this time I zoomed in on him to see what he was up to!

As I was writing this post I got to wondering where that quote originated. I was unable to find the origin of the quote with all my searches.

Last week my my son-in-law and his good dog , Cassie, were home for a few days. Cassie is Marc's riding companion on his job as a long distance trucker!

She is such a good girl and so very devoted to Marc!

This is her home most of the time!

(Marc's too!)

Here she is enjoying a break among the autumn leaves...somewhere along that long road the two travel! What a sweet old girl she is!

Today my daughter brought Cooper up to visit with Emma Rose for awhile!

Well, let me just say that my Emmy has certainly grown into the challenge of being play pals with a pup several months older than she is! She gives Coop a run for his money,  you might say!

(more so each passing week)

In fact, at times Coop seems to find her obnoxious and overbearing ....a little MUCH, so to speak!

Never mind, Cooper!  She's just an Excitable Girl....besides-she LOVES you!!

Since Cooper's last visit Emmy has learned to do this!

 

Until recently Cooper was able to escape her by jumping on the back of the couch...

This week Emmy mastered that feat, herself!  :)

Does anyone know the name of this guy?

I've seen these critters often around here , and I'm sure they are some type of 'ant' or a relative... but I don't know their name. They are quite colorful and showy but I don't want to get too close to them!

One other fact about them is that I have never seen more than one of these 'ants' at any given time!

(all other ants I've seen have lots of 'friends' with them!)

:) ...So that's kind of intriguing to me!  I need to find out about these 'ants' or whatever they may be!

THIS is why I love my husband... he shares interesting things with me! :)

Recently he brought this BIG moth inside for me to see. I think it's a Sphinx moth of some kind. There are several varieties of these colorful moths and we've come across a few of them over the years!

This is the most recent one.  I wish I could have gotten a better picture but we wanted to let it go before it got too stressed out!

(It looked almost like a small bird as it flew away, high up into our Live Oak tree.)
