Falling Leaves of autumn...

~~~
"The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold....
I see your lips, the summer kisses,
the sunburned hands, I used to hold.
Since you went away, the days grow long
and soon I'll hear ol' winter's song.
But I miss you most of all my darling,
When autumn leaves start to fall."
  Johnny Mercer, lyrics,
Autumn Leaves
~This is from a trip we were on to North Carolina-
a few years ago!
Wish I could see those autumn leaves this year!!~
~~~

~~

A few touches of my 'Mellow Yellow' fall decorating can still be seen around my house...
but soon to be replaced with the reds and greens of Christmas!

Camera Critters - Nov 19, 2011

~~~
~~
Last week my my son-in-law and his good dog , Cassie, were home for a few days. Cassie is Marc's riding companion on his job as a long distance trucker!
She is such a good girl and so very devoted to Marc!
This is her home most of the time!
(Marc's too!)
Here she is enjoying a break among the autumn leaves...somewhere along that long road the two travel! What a sweet old girl she is!
Sweet Cassie
This autumn~~~in the autumn of our lives...
~
This autumn day and this mid October week finds Charles and me immersed in a long string of doctor appointments...which is becoming the norm for us; well, more so for C. than me!
(That's a darn good thing too,  since I am the one without the additional health insurance...just medicare coverage!)
Yesterday, though, I did have a visit to give a blood sample at my doctor's office - for a followup visit next week... (a cholesterol problem)  Today my appointment was with an audio specialist...(nothing new or unusual here!)
Charles also had to go to another office yesterday for another sample of blood  at his heart doctor. (a problem with thinning his blood to prevent clots)  Friday he has yet another appointment with a different doctor for a different- though related- problem. Early November he has more surgery for skin cancer on his face.
( Curable with the cutting out)
 Charles and I both went for flu shots yesterday, also!
(so at least that's one less worry)
So many appointments on our calendar that I'm finding it hard to work in all the things I need to do- and  should do....like eye exams and dental exams...
This is most definitely 'The Autumn' of our lives, I'd say!
~
Does all that sound gloomy?
Sorry!!
  :)
~~
Here's  some good cheer for fall!
October's Party
George Cooper
"October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band."
Alli and Tina
Yesterday Alli and Tina stopped by after Tina's shift at work.
Tuesday and Wednesday Alli has been 'shadowing' her mom at work. Tina works 12 hour + --shifts, so Alli got a good picture of what it's like to be a nurse! I think it was good experience for her. Tina (along with one other RN) is head of the IV team at the hospital and is usually very busy and on her feet almost constantly, on most days; being available all over the hospital, where ever her services are needed. Alli was tired, after 2 days of this! :) But now has a better idea of the real world out there!
I'm proud of Alli. This wasn't a requirement but she wanted to do it!
~~~

They went out to look at the patio project and to see my cats!

We see a lot of dead branches high up in the trees that need to be removed before putting the roof on the patio. I guess the job will be delayed until we can get a 'tree man' out to do this!

I love looking up into those majestic branches!

...And just look at that new spring green!!

Happy spring day to all of you!

Poem: ' We Won't Have This Day Again' ( SkyWatchFriday below this )

~~~
We Won’t Have This Day Again
The summer days are swiftly passing.
Another fall will soon be here.
Winter enters, with a flurry,
and soon is gone - another year!
As we age, the years seem shorter.
In a flash, the days go by.
We come to know our limitations -
if not all the reasons why!
We pick and choose our undertakings…
the things we do from day to day.
We try to fill the empty spaces,
of what we’ve missed along the way.
We know, fully, time is fleeting,
with no way to reign it in!
We take each day and what it offers!
We won’t have this day again!
