Today ~ 3 ~ 31~ 2009

OK

I can't be the target of 'Blonde Jokes' anymore!

I changed my hair color! :) Well, it's STILL dark blonde but not what you think of when you say 'Blonde!'

Good! I'm tired of that image and all the jokes!! ;)

~~~
Today Charles and our patio guy poured the final little addition (where the BBQ will be) so the job is almost finished! It has turned out really well!
This is the way he finished off the front of the patio
!
I'll be happy to get the back yard cleaned up and some new roses planted!
~~~

I have been under a lot of stress recently, for various reasons, and have had an awful time of sleeping at night and headaches during the day! When I can't sleep until 3:00 AM then I have to sleep later and I never seem to get much done during the day. I really dislike this cycle I'm in now!

One thing on my mind is that I will have to get my driver's license renewed before my birthday, May 5th! I'm a little concerned that I won't pass because of my eyesight! Please keep your fingers crossed for me in that. Also I have a medical procedure coming up next week...just the 'M' test but I dread that too! (what woman doesn't?)

Solved the problem of needing to go to the hair dresser by...just resolving NOT to do it! I'll keep my hair long until I feel better! Al least I got it colored today! :) And I'm no longer a blonde!

Other things too, have been bearing heavily on my mind ...just stressful things that I really can't do anything about- so I need to just let it all go!

~~~
Tomorrow is my husband's birthday! I have him a couple of really neat things! :) We'll be celebrating on Sunday when all the kids can be here!
~~~

Saturday we will be going out to our friend's place in Hernando for their annual chili cook-off...and then on May 1st, we will have the Retired Police Officers gathering/dinner- held here in Ocala this time! Charles always enjoys getting together with the guys!

In there too-April 27th- will be our anniversary-# 48!! ...And my birthday May 5!
( It's a high # too! haha)

Oh wait- also a trip to Pensacola for a birthday celebration for 2 of Charles' sisters! This will be at Easter time...so we will do a sort of Easter thing combined with Charles' B'day this Sunday, here!

Lots of stuff going on! Wish I could get to feeling better!

OK- Tomorrow will be better ~ has to be!!

(Please check out the beautiful song in post below this one.)

It's Mellow Yellow Monday again!

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall...... etc-etc-

A couple mornings ago my husband offered to cook us some 'scrambled eggs' for breakfast!

He dropped the container holding all of our eggs - resulting in THIS! :)

OK-
Dear-I like scrambled eggs, but this is ridiculous! haha

NOW I know why it's not a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket!! ;)

That man cracks me up sometimes!

But Charlie and I are 'birds of a feather!' ;)

*We have been 'flocking together' for almost 48 years now!*

Dan Seals ~ (England Dan John Ford Coley)

Today in an Email I was told that Dan Seals of the 'England Dan & John Ford Coley' singing duo of the 70s has died.

Date of Birth:02/08/1948
Date of Death:03/25/2009
Age at Death:61

Cause of Death:

Cancer

( from WIKIPEDIA)

The duo had six Top 40 singles between 1976 and 1979. Among their hits was "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" (written by Parker McGee) (1976), a cover of Utopia's "Love Is the Answer", as well as "Nights Are Forever Without You", (another McGee composition), and "We'll Never Have to Say Goodbye Again". Dan Seals, the brother of Jim Seals of the equally successful 1970s soft-rock duo Seals & Crofts, became a successful country performer in the 1980s, scoring hits such as "Meet Me in Montana" (with Marie Osmond) and "Bop".

**Seals' childhood nickname was "England Dan" because he was a fan of The Beatles, and occasionally affected an English accent.**

John Colley's last name was shortened to "Coley" for ease of pronunciation; "Ford" was added as his middle name for flow purposes, thus England Dan and John Ford Coley.

Seals died on March 25, 2009 following treatment for mantle cell lymphoma.
~~~
I found this video of one of their best songs ! I loved this soft , mellow sound!
**NOTE:
I found that interesting and something I hadn't known before! I guess it's like most Beatles fans always say..."Everything is Beatles connected in some way!"
Beatles Fest and Neil Innes
http://www.thefestforbeatlesfans.com/fest/Current/NewYork/ny.php
NEW YORK METRO LOCATION
NJ Crowne Plaza Meadowlands Hotel, Secaucus, NJ
March 27-29, 2009
It's 'Fest For Beatles Fans' time again this weekend.
This is a yearly event in NY/NJ area (and other cities at different times of the year) where fans congregate in celebration of their common bond as Beatles fans!
Each year a selection of guests- all Beatles connected in some way - come together with shows and discussions of all things Beatles !
There are also music jams among the fans, singing and playing Beatles songs,until the early hours of morning...and much more... :)
~Check out the official site above to read more about this!~
~~~

I first heard of this event when I joined a music forum several years ago.

From my observations, Beatles fans are the most loyal of any other fans!

Some people I know have attended this event 10 years or more and would not dream of missing it. Vacations are built around a stay of several nights and days at the hotel that sponsors this event-and reservations are made months in advance!

Now THAT is dedication! :)

~~~
Neil Innes, a frequent Fest guest, will be returning this year to add his fun music and routines!
Neil is a Fest Favorite, I have heard from some music forum friends!
(From the site)
Another one of our favorite guests, NEIL INNES pays
a return visit to mark the 3rd premiere of The 7th Python,
a documentary on Neil’s amazing career, first as a member
of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, to being an integral part of
the Monty Python Group,
The Rutles, and a long solo career.
Neil wrote all the Rutles songs and co-starred as Ron Nasty.
Of course, Neil will join Liverpool for some Rutling!
We will be showing the film in the Grand Ballroom starting
at around 11:00am on Saturday (an earlybird special).
Neil has written a new song which he will be performing
at THE FEST and it is called Imitation Song.
You can hear a preview of it at his site
( A sample of the humor of Neil Innes from years past )
Enjoy the Fest, my Beatles friends!
I won!
Pea had a cool give-away for her 3rd blog anniversary, recently
...and the winner is...
Junie Rose! :)
Of course my name was entered - because, of course, I do read Pea's blog every day and it doesn't take a give-away to bring me to Pea's Corner!
Pea always has something interesting to share with her many readers who visit her every day - and the generous and frequent give-aways she has are just the icing on the cake!
Thanks so much Pea, for this lovely, springtime gift and thanks for just being the giving and fun girl you are!
Hugs!!
Ruby Tuesday ~ March24, 2009 ~ and a poem!
( Mellow Yellow Monday post below this one)
It's Ruby Tuesday time!
This is when we can post red things in our life!
Go here to find other red posts!
~~~

The male Cardinal is breathtakingly beautiful, while the female is much more subdued in color!

This male Cardinal is resting among the tangle of Wisteria vines of our arbor.

This early spring I am seeing a lot of these guys around our place, along with their less flamboyant mates!

~~~
( previously posted here ~ a poem )
Cardinals
I see Cardinals almost daily in spring and summer,
but just for fleeting moments;
and seldom see them congregated more than two, together.
It’s as if God is guarding me against an overload of too much beauty
- all at once!
Each time I see them I feel this rush of pure joy!
His plan is good! :)
Cardinals
He is deepest red, while she is more like rust
- in all their glory given-
perching there among the blossoms, pink!
A decorator of high fashion
might be hesitant to pose them, thus!
The colors
– one so soft, the others, more than bold -
would surely clash
...one might think!
But for me…the soft pink of the Redbud tree,
so pleasing and fulfilling
- a most glorious blooming tree-
can only be enhanced, the more,
when there among her branches
flash the reddest red and rust!
The purest joy that any eye could see!
The Eagle!
Our friends, Ted and Sandi (our builder of the patio etc) were telling us recently about the Eagles that hang out around their place. Sometimes they see as many as 4 at a time, fishing in their small lake and even coming down near their house!
Sandi gave me a few pics she had taken -after learning of our interest in these magnificent birds!
Here are a couple of her pics she gave us.
They told us they would give us a call the next time they saw any of them and maybe we could come over and see them and photograph them!! :)
Yesterday-after Ted had finished working here- we got the word that the Eagles had come for a visit again! LOL- Yes!! We went right over (just a couple miles from us) in hopes of being lucky enough to see them!
What a thrill for me...and I had never wished more that I was a better photographer and had a better camera!
Still- I'm pleased with what I DID manage to get. Just sorry I couldn't get him in flight!
When we first came he was sitting on this pole near their house, which seems to be a favorite spot; the same pole as is in the pictures Sandi gave us. I tried to get closer but he flew up into the tall trees near the small lake.
Ted caught a fish and threw it up to encourage the bird to fly down! It worked! The Eagle flew within a few yards of us! :) But he was too fast for me to capture his flight!
Since we've lived here we have seen Eagles only a few times, and never this close up!
What a wonderful experience for me!
Junie
