(Before Halloween gets too far past....Pea's Party!)

 (Before Halloween gets too far past....Pea's Party!)
 ~~

My friend, Pea, had a fantastic Halloween party again this year. This girl has the best parties of anyone I know!  She serves the most delicious treats  and her decorations are 'out of this world' and she even finds costumes for all her guests!

This time she had us decked out as baby animals...with a few witches etc- rounding it out! So cool!

This is the outfit she had set aside for me! Do I look cuddly, or what!!  :)

Click link below to visit 'Pea's Corner' and see ALL of her guests in their costumes!

Pea's Birthday Party

~~~
Oh, my, what fun!
Pea certainly knows how to throw a super party!
This time she supplied for each of her guests  a beautiful princess outfit!
(BTW-Pea has pictures of ALL of her guests at the party!  Go see the beautiful outfits she had for us all-and wish this dear girl a Happy Birthday!  Click link above)
...The only ripple in Pea's perfect plans, I believe, was when her male guest of honor-Prince Steve- showed up in a princess dress too! Pea had to scurry around and find him a suitable outfit for a PRINCE!  Lol-I'm inclined to believe that Prince Steve did that just to amuse the lady guests! He's a prankster at heart, from what I've seen in the past!
Like I told Pea... she sure picked a good style for me! This dress is quite slimming for me, don't you think? Do you think I look taller in this, also? YAH!!  I thought so too!!
(maybe even up to 5'-1")
  :)
Princess Junie (Junie's Place)
:) Thanks, Pea, for all the fun times you share with us all..and...
Happy,Happy Birthday!!
Love,
Princess Junie Rose
Had a good one!
~~~

I had a good birthday, with some of my family! Wish it could have been everyone but will see some of the others on Mother's Day!

~Gifts from Charles~

 Charles and I met our daughter, Tina and 2 of our 'Grands' at Red Lobster for another yummy dinner. Later we  all gathered at our house for cup cakes and ice cream and coffee and opening of my cards and presents!
Chris and Joy joined us there.
(I had opened their gifts the night before)

I got lots of cool gifts from everyone- Thanks, guys!

(Random pictures to follow)

LOL-OK-Now that I'm the big '70' .....maybe I can do that commercial of the lady saying....
"I'm 70 years old...can you believe it?"

I always have to giggle when I see that because....I wonder... what does she think...that people see her as 30 something??

  Let's face it folks...we all get old
(If we're lucky)
and-although you may look good for your age...lol
(don't you love that term?)
you still will never look decades younger than you actually are.

Get over it!

The main thing is in being able to enjoy who you are at whatever age you reach!
I'm trying to do just that.

Be happy!

PS-
Also-thanks to all my blog friends and FB friends for the many birthday wishes given to me...much appreciated!  :)

Love,
Junie

This got me thinking about how long I've been here too...and I wasn't exactly sure. I looked up my first post-and I also have been around just past 5 years!  :)

This was my very first post!

***(Jan 16, 2006)

Hello!

Can't believe it! Am I actually going to be allowed to post here on my own blog?!

Yes!!!

For the first time I am really able to type in this big box!
And, wouldn't you know it- I find myself speechless!

Thanks to all who have tried to help me...however, none of your suggestions worked! LOL!

It just decided to let me in - perhaps sensing all the cool and extremely important things I will post here in the future! :)
(now- those who know me-realize that's a joke!)

Anyway, for better or worse- here I am!

Let the fun begin!

FYI~about my header~

 FYI
~This was a comment I gave to Joy, one of my blog friends, about my heart-header.  I thought others might also be interested~

~~
To Joy:

"...and thanks for the comment on my header...What that is- if you haven't figured it out-is a reflection from a stained glass window in my stairwell. It's actually an oblong  piece that becomes heart shaped when it reaches the corner. The color is created with my imac picture program! I think it's pretty neat-looking!  :)"

 ~~
Here are some more views of the window and the reflections it makes on the wall.

Pea's Party

Happy Birthday, Pea

~~
Today is our blog friend, Pea's, birthday!  She had a big party and she had costumes ready for all her guests!  It was a 50s party-my favorite time period in my long life!

~~~
If you haven't visited Pea - to wish her a *Happy Birthday*- you still have time!
The party is probably still going strong and  she might even  have some of this 50's garb still around for you to wear! All the costumes were super cool!
I had to leave a little early and forgot to change back into my regular old lady clothes.....WELL-I really did!!
I wonder if Pea would mind if I keep this nifty outfit for awhile! I could be a 50s kid on Halloween!!
Yard Art on Thursday~Sept 23, 2010 (another big bird)
~~~

 Visit *Mary* for more Yard Art pics!

( Mary, I like the new Yard Art badge!)

~~~
On our recent trip to visit our daughter's family in Orlando-imagine  my great surprise when I looked in the back yard and saw-THIS!
I was surprised and tickled because this rooster guy is so much like the one I saw in Athens, Alabama a couple years back.  I posted about it *here...*
Some pics of that big bird!
We both blogged about these big birds...and were wondering if they were multiplying!  :)
( later Carletta mentioned another of these big roosters sighted by, yet, another blogger!!! )
LOL-I think maybe they are!
More on Jackson Browne~
 After I posted the vid by Jackson Browne, 'These Days,' on Facebook,  I had this conversation with my sister there!
~~~
Joy says:

I still am fond of his music too :)

June says:

Joy,

Well, I'm more than just fond of it!
LOL-

When I get into his music again after not
listening to it for awhile-
I just want to hear more and more....

Remember, you and I discovered
 Dan Fogelberg and Jackson Browne
around the same time...

 ...We would listen
to them a lot when you came
to visit those summers-from Pa)
But, I must say, it's his earlier
music I liked the best!

I didn't like him becoming so political
with his lyrics in some of his later albums...
and in fact his popularity became less,
the more political he became!

As song writers go- there's none better-IMO.

(or probably none as good!)

I was so happy he got inducted into
 the Rock Music Hall of Fame
for songwriter in recent years-
it was well deserved!
Junie

Joy says:

Sure I remember. thanks to Chris :)

 I think J B's politics and probably his
other beliefs are incompatible with mine -
but anyway, he didn't ask me to marry him -
LOL !!

His songs are wonderfully constructed and performed,
but many are 'downbeat'.
Enough depression going around in real life
(for me)
But, yeah, he's still good ; I love him!

June says:
Just realistic, IMO_
and I like that about his music!

LOL-
If I start getting too depressed
 I back off for awhile.

Honestly, I can't think of anyone
who has written more meaningful songs
than Jackson Browne.

lol- and PS-He didn't ask ME to marry him either!

(His loss-haha!!)

Joy says:
‎:D

~~~
:)  So- one more Jackson Browne song for today!
(Then I promise I'll back off for awhile- before we all get way too deep in depression!)
To me his lyrics reflect real life and -sorry- but life does have sad moments!
Lyrics:
Too Many Angels
Jackson Browne
There's an angel on a ribbon
Hanging from the armoire door
There's a Cupid with his feet crossed
On the bird cage by the door
There's a baby angel drummer
His eyes are open wide
And two more tiny cherubs
On the mantle side by side
Too many angels
Have seen me crying
Too many angels
Have heard you lying
There are photographs of children
All in their silver frames
On the window sills and tabletops
Lit by candle flames
And upon their angel faces
Life's expectations climb
Where the moment has preserved them
From the ravages of time
Too many angels
Have seen me crying
Too many angels
Have heard you lying
Bring the morning on
Voices sing of day
I want to step out in the morning sun
Through the flood of tears
I want this darkness gone
Your sweet face appears
These apparitions coming one by one
But there's no end in sight
Only the dead of night
And too many angels
Too many angels
Have seen me crying
Too many angels
Have heard you lying
Too many angels
Bring the morning on
Voices sing of day
I want to step out in the morning sun
Through the flood of tears
I want to greet the dawn
Cast away these fears
Forget about the things we could have done
Bring the morning on
Voices sing of day
I want to watch the children as they run
Through the broken years
I want this darkness gone
Your sweet face appears
These apparitions coming one by one
But there's no end in sight
Only the dead of night
And too many angels
More on that Plant (also posted at Our Place)
LOL...And I feel stupid!
When C. brought that plant in for me to see we both felt a familiarity to it...It was kinda weird because neither of us could capture our memories/knowledge for this plant..but we both felt we had seen it before-also the smell of the leaves seemed familiar to us.
One of my readers  left a comment letting me know the name she knows it by.
An Award
I was recently given this award by one of my earliest blog friends ~Joy, at "The Joy of Six."
From the start, Joy and I seemed to connect on many levels~
especially in our mutual love of our families and poetry.
I appreciate this, dear Joy, and the fact that you've hung in there with me all this time, reading my rambling - often - irrelevant nonsense-posts! :)
Thank you, Joy, for this award and for your friendship.
The simple rules that come with this award are:
1. When you receive this award, you must thank the person that awarded you in a new post.
2. Name 10 things that make you happy.
3. Pass this award on to 10 other bloggers who make you happy.
Ten things that make me happy:
1. ~My first cup of coffee in the morning~especially if my husband has it made when I get up! :)
2. ~Family gatherings - best when no one is missing~
3.~Roses ~
4.~ watching the birds~
5. ~a special dinner out ~ I love 'Red Lobster'~
6. ~Reminiscing of my mom and my childhood-and also of my kids and 'grands' when they were little. Christmas memories are among my favorites~
7.~ Music ~especially discovering music new to me and sharing with a special friend~
8.~ Blogging! :) Yes!
9.~My Springtime wildflowers in our meadow~
10. ~ Writing poems that come together just the way you want them to! :)
(Sometimes that happens)
I enjoy reading many blogs, a lot of which are not yet on my side bar favorites list. All who visit me here are among my favorites but I will list only a few...
1.~Carletta
~Carletta has a beautiful blog going over at 'Around the Bend.'
She does fantastic photography-a lot of nature shots. Also has two little granddaughters who we have been able to get to know a little, through her stories and pictures.
2.~Pea
~Pea of 'Pea's Corner' is a dear blog friend (doesn't everyone know and love Pea?) She's an interesting and fun loving lady and shows us a lot of fantastic scenery of her life and travels in Canada. Oh! And she's also a loving grandmother to a sweet baby girl!
3.~
Sally at 'Whispering Hope' is a blog lady friend who I enjoy reading and I seldom miss a day of checking her out! She is a lady I admire and like a lot! She's a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother to a little four year old girl; a very family-involved kind of lady! I like that!
4.~
~Donna at 'Made in Heaven' is one of my newer blog friends. (even so, it's been a couple years, maybe) She posts a lot of pictures and leads an interesting life way out in Texas. Her family-husband,daughter and 'grands'- are often featured in her blog! OH! And Donna and I are on the same page politically! I like that!
5.~
Sandy, 'Abandoned in Pasadena' is a blog friend I like to read often. She's actually in KY! She often writes about her cats and about family events~ Oh, and she writes about riding motorcycles with her husband and other family members! COOL!
6.~
Mary of 'Mommas Corner' is one amazing lady! She's into all kinds of crafts, canning of veggies and fruits, gardening...you name it , she does it!
I admire Mary's sense of humor and especially envy her vitality and energy!
Oh! And she appreciates my music! :)
7.~
Rachel, of 'Sliding Through Life,' is a long time favorite blog friend. I always enjoy Rachel's interesting posts of her daily adventures - she embraces life and shares a lot with her readers and friends.
Rachel=NICE!
8.~
Peter, of 'Holtie's House' is a blog I will always enjoy reading. Peter is a very caring guy, involved deeply in family affairs and seems to have a zillion friends! He has a lot to show and tell about his homeland, Australia, which I have truly enjoyed over the 4+ years I have been a blogger. BTW- In the beginning, Peter helped me in figuring out this confusing world of blogging! He sent me detailed emails with instructions on how to do certain things-post pictures-etc! I'll be forever grateful, Peter! :)
9.~
Cliff~'Cliff Morrow's Blog' is among my favorite reads. It's always rewarding to visit Cliff and he never fails to leave me smiling! I often need that!
10.~
AC- of 'Raindrops' is way up in Canada, but I visit him on a quite regular basis. He's witty and a lot of fun to read. He shows his readers a lot of scenes of his country and shares family times with his two 'grands' and his wife and daughters. Oh, and he is musical and if we're lucky, sometimes shares his fiddle playing with us!
~~~
NOTE:
My blogger choices can be found on my side bar, just click the names.
(I got lazy)
Anyway, I hope you will check them all out because they are all awesome, if in different ways!

~~~
OK~ I know some folks are not too keen on doing these award things so don't feel obligated to follow through on this unless you want to do it.
The main thing about blogging -IMO- is that you have fun- so if something begins to feel like a 'job' it might reduce the fun part of it!
(LOL-Just enjoy the good things I said about you anyway)
Love,
Junie
