FACE BOOK POST-(about Mom's Christmas basket)

Remembering my sweet mom....

This little crochet Christmas basket is one Mom made for me 40+ years ago for a Christmas gift! It's one thing I look for, first, every year when I do my Christmas decorating!

    • I love this because it still
      has the little plastic flowers
      that Mom arranged in it,
      all those years ago...
      and of course the crochet work
      is special. It was at a time
      when Mom had very little $$
      for gifts
      (after my dad had passed)
      but she always managed to get
      around with something
      for everyone.
      ~~~
      Miss my mom very much.
      Love,
      Junie
Mom's Christmas flowers-2011
The month of December is 'getting on with it,' and I'm falling behind with everything - even more so than usual!
  I decided I needed to get Mom's Christmas flowers out  today, before time completely got away from me!  Charles was happy and willing to take me, and we had an enjoyable time together, though, of course, it was shadowed with some sadness.  Still, I felt better, having brightened that little spot up for this holiday!
~Love and miss my Mom~
~~~

On a lighter note...
On the way out we were riding behind this
' Country Redneck's' pickup!
  We got a kick out of this elaborately decorated truck,  but I was only able to get a good look and picture of the back!

It's interesting and often, amusing,  to see the diversity of people! What turns one person on, another may find silly or trite...or a total waste of money!
Oh well, I'm not much of a pick-up kind of person anyway...well lighted and decorated, or not!!

:)

( PS-can you read that sign?)

Pretty cool!

January 6 ~ a date of importance~

~~~
January 6, 1909 was the date my mom was born.
 This month on the 27th will be 8 years since she left us.
January will always be a sad time for me.  Yesterday's gloomy, gray skies didn't help  at all to lift my spirits!
Charles and I went out for a few minutes yesterday. The flowers that my daughter and I had taken early in Dec were still nice... so I just added some holly.
 Always with love,
Junie
Christmas flowers for Mom- 2010
~~~

Today my daughter, Tina, and I took flowers for our Ma-Ma.  It's always a bittersweet event-bringing Mom flowers but I always will-as long as I'm able.

  Joy, my sister, was unable to come with us because of a medical appointment with her husband.

Tina and I also did quite a bit of shopping today. I appreciated her taking me out because I really do not like driving a lot.  We had a fun day Christmas shopping -and just being together for a few hours! Oh-and we had both breakfast and lunch out-lol- We really made a day of it!  :)

Here we are at home and later with Mom's flowers.

~Fall flowers for Mom~

~~~
Today Charles and I took some silk fall flowers and colorful leaves for Mom.  I hadn't changed her flowers since my sister and I were out in the spring...
(Somehow summer slipped away)
Someone had added a bunch of beautiful Hibiscus flowers  since we were there and since they still looked fresh and pretty I just added the fall colors to them!
(Mom would love them together anyway )
In January it will be 8 years since Mom left us and I can honestly say she has been in my thoughts every single day of all those years.
In case any of you have doubts of who the greatest love is, in your life, take a lesson from me...You'll have no greater love than your mom.
(at least not in this mortal world)
Don't wait until it's too late to say those words to her and to show your love in your actions!
I hope I expressed my love in words and deeds to my
dear mom....
What I would not give to have a hug from my mom one more time-and to see her sweet smile!
This statue stands near Mom's place. It's a comfort for me to see this when I go out there.
This picture
(below)shows the spot where my nephew and grand niece  lie...so near to Mom.
( "Ma-Ma" -Paul's grandmother and Brenda's great-grandmother)
They died together in a motorcycle accident after Mom passed away.
(Thankfully-in this mortal life- Mom was spared the heartache of losing those loved ones and also, Phil - Paul's brother)
So much sadness, visiting out there...Well... but really- there is no escaping it, anyway!
I guess the only way NOT to hurt is Not to love at all- and I wouldn't want that!
Remembering Mom on Mother's Day
June Kellum
June Kellum ~ Remembering my dear mom...always with love ~
Mom’s Last Roses
These are Mom’s last roses.
I kept a
little part
of all the roses given,
from every grieving heart.
I
handled them so gently
and dried them - as you see.
I found the
perfect basket-
arranged them carefully.
I found the sweetest
ribbon,
and made this fancy bow-
attaching it, expertly!
It had
to be - just so!
It had to turn out special,
and easily
convey…
how much I do still love her
and miss her every day!
These
are Mom’s last roses.
They’ll always be a part
of all my memories
of her
and the sorrow in my heart.
Sad/Happy Day
~~~

Today my sister and I had a day out together.

We had been wanting/needing to take flowers out for mom for a couple weeks and we finally got the chance today. As always it provoked feelings of sadness (always will, I think) but happiness too! Thinking of Mom and talking of her is always that bittersweet mixture of emotions for Joy and me.

We stopped by 'Michael's' to get some pretty spring flowers, on the way out! They have a big selection and we had trouble choosing but we finally decided on this mixed bouquet.

Such sweet little flowers for spring!
Mom would love them!

Flowers for Mom-and a Merry Christmas to all.

***

Late yesterday Charles and I finally were able to take out some Christmas flowers for my dear Mom.

I usually like to have these for her earlier in the month of December but this time has been an especially hectic and worrisome time for me and I have not been able to do all the things I've wished I could!

My unselfish and sweet mom would say, "Honey, don't worry about it! You try to do too much!" Oh, how I miss my mom - especially at this time of year.

~~~
Last night I finally got my 'Magic Cookie Bars' made. These have long been a favorite of my family, along with the Harvest loaf and Banana pudding!
...I usually have my goodies made and stashed in the freezer weeks ahead of time...but - as I said - this time has been different! Oh well, we do what we can...
"It is what it is!"
Later - after my treats were made and cooling- I did a music listen of Dan Fogelberg's " The First Christmas Morning." That is the most beautiful Christmas album!! One good friend and I have made this listening to this album each year a tradition and it's something special I always look forward to!
You may have noticed I have some of the songs from this album on my song list! :) I recommend it to one and all!
Now...I must prepare for our Christmas Eve party tonight!
Celebrating with the family!! :)
Enjoy!!
Love,
Junie
Mom's fall flowers
NOTE:
My 'Sepia Scenes' post is below this one!
~~
Mom's Fall Flowers
Today my sister and I took some fall flowers out for our dear mom!
It's always an emotional time for us, remembering having to let mom go...almost 7 years ago now!
We both added what we wanted this time. I added the big yellow flowers, the leaves at the base and the little scarecrow guy. Mom would like that. She liked fun things!
This little offering of flowers to her a few times during the year is a small comfort to us.
I like to change the flowers for every season and soon it will be time again for Christmas flowers!
...The seasons seem to go by so fast....
Joy and I were mom's littlest girls! :)
(Joy was the baby...but I was Mom's baby, too!)
We each like to think that we are a lot like mom...in our physical appearance-and in our inner make-up as well!
In my opinion- to be like Mom would be the highest honor to achieve!
Mom was LOVE!
~~~
Our nephew and grand-niece are here very near Mom.
As you see on the dates, these 2 dear ones followed Mom just a year later!

...SO...an emotion filled day for Joy and me!

However bittersweet this day was for us we managed to enjoy these few hours out together-my sis and I! We had lunch out at this neat restaurant (new for me) then did a little shopping!

I finally found a small black purse that I needed for the up-coming event next weekend ~ the wedding of Joy's son! :)

Have you ever noticed the fine balance of sadness and happiness in this life?

All in His master plan!

~~~
AND
...often with bits of extreme aggravation thrown in-LOL- as in computer woes! But that's just minor stuff! Yep-still having those pesky problems! ... Just don't send me any E-mails because I can't open them! ;) ... But I AM still here-doing my blogging thing as usual - and on Face Book!
It'll work out!
Love,
Junie Rose
Today's Flowers ~ Sept 20, 2009
~~~~

***Click here to find other beautiful flowers around the world***

~~~
My flower this time is a' Night Blooming Cereus'
This flower is unique and very beautiful!
It only blooms for one night...usually late night...and by early morning the bloom is over! Sometimes there are several blooms open together...but often only one bloom at a time over a few weeks in summer!
I always cut that single bloom-as I did this time- and bring it in to enjoy until I go to bed- (at a very late hour!)
My Mom loved these flowers-and the plant I now have was hers.
Many times Mom and I would stay up late to enjoy these blooms together - and now that she's no longer with me- this will always be a treasured flower for me!
More about 4 0'clocks~
Since there was some interest in my 'Four O'clock' flower post yesterday, I'm doing a follow-up on this flower today.
Actually, I was curious , myself, about the
Wild 4 O'clocks AND the
Garden varieties, so I did some searching. ( Also here and here)
~~Check the links for lots of interesting info and pictures!~~
~~~~

I've always liked these little flowers and was happy when we moved here to see that they came up, wild, in various spots of our property! They grow along our property line and also in the little garden area in back of my house.

This garden is in remembrance of my mom so it's very fitting that they are growing here! The 4 O'clock was one of Mom's favorites - as it is mine, also!

I have never had the ones developed for the garden- only the wild kind!
~~~
Here are some more pics of my very own 4 O'clocks from my mom's garden ~ this little country flower that blooms only from late afternoon and onward through the night!
(It also blooms on very gloomy, overcast, days!)
These little flowers make me smile...especially the unpredictable color combinations you get from flower to flower ~ as you will see in my pictures here. I suppose to keep your true, solid, colors the plants would need to be kept separate in the planting areas, but mine are yellow next to dark pink so I often see the mixed up blooms, as shown here! :) I like them that way!
The light pink one has grown up away from the others and I DO want to keep that one separate! Isn't that a delicate little flower?
Oh!
And these flowers have a heavenly fragrance!
Love,
Junie
