Back!

We got home early afternoon today!

We had a really good couple of days and I have lots -LOTS- of pictures to go thru and try to organize. Will show a few in the next few days!! (lol)

Let me just say I have decided St. Augustine is THE most beautiful city I have ever seen! :) Yep- even more beautiful than Savannah! :) Just my opinion! (lol...... at this moment!)

Here are a few pics we made on Sunday just before leaving home!

We had a fun ride up and got to our motel in the early afternoon.

We had both skipped breakfast so were ready for a good meal. We went to a place I found in the restaurant guide called 'The Reef'- on the coastal hwy- right on the beach. They were serving Sunday Brunch until 2:30, so we just had enough time!

WOW!
We both thought the food was excellent...an omelet that was out of this world! And some Cajun pan broiled catfish with just the right tangy seasoning! Also chicken fried steak with saw mill gravy! :) Cheese grits!! Some great tasting veggies- a big assortment of fruits and cheeses-and some yummy rolls! ...Crab legs too but I didn't try those! (lol- looked too much a challenge for me!) ...Anyway - suffice to say it was a very pleasing meal! The check was high ...but what the heck!!

After eating we sat on the boardwalk above the beach area for awhile! It was just a glorious day! It was quite windy as you can tell by my pictures! lol- At times like these I find myself wishing I had short hair - not this stuff that gets tied in knots with the wind! :) Charles was smart. He wore a hat!

Oh! But I had fun with my camera and all that
NEW TO ME scenery! :)

More tomorrow!

Our Anniversary

Our Anniversary is on the 27th. We are going to St. Augustine tomorrow for a couple of days. We love to visit this old Florida city and it's not that much traveling time so we will have plenty of sight seeing time!

We're both looking forward to the time together in a more relaxed setting than this little farm offers us!

( 1978 ~ Miami, Fl )

I 'antiqued' this photo for this posting! LOL- I thought that appropriate! A couple celebrating a 48th. wedding anniversary must surely qualify as 'antiques!' :)

This is a poem I wrote for Charles on a past anniversary. I have posted it before but it's for my husband (for the both of us) so I'm posting it once more.

My Love

These years we’ve been together,
down this road of life…

through calm or stormy weather…
through the pain and strife…

through the happiest of seasons that, so,
out weigh the rest…

sharing what we’ve treasured…
time has been our test!

Both learning, as time passes,
the craft of compromise…

how, overtime, things change a bit,
may take us by surprise.

Sometimes change feels threatening,
seems like the winter’s wind

that howls in it’s persistence,
impatient to come in.

Changes are just ripples,
can’t touch us - you must know-

or break the bond created,
all those years ago.

Awards and much more

Today I want to take the time to thank
my blog friend
Judy, at
'Living On The Other Side Of The Hill,
for giving me this neat award!'

Thanks, Judy! I love your blog too! :)

I'm not going to pass this on to just a few blogs because.....if I read your blog on a regular basis you have to know I LOVE IT!
Lol- so, ( to all my blog friends) feel free to put this button on your blog if you wish!

~~~
Although I am still fighting this flu/cold thing I DID get out, some, yesterday! I had to do some shopping , but scaled down somewhat so it wasn't too big a deal!
I bought these pretty fall leaves and flowers to take out for mom! I hope we can get out next week.
I still think of her every day and miss her so much!
Oh, what I'd give to have MOM still with me this beautiful autumn season.
Changes.....
our seasons and our lives...
~~~

Late yesterday afternoon I asked Charles to go with me down to the pasture to see the cows and new calves. I wanted to get some pictures of all the new babies.

He recently opened the north pasture, which he had closed off for awhile to let the grass grow. He related to me how the cows were overjoyed with the opportunity of getting into this tall and lush grass, and stampeded as one toward this goal!

AHHH- but one new mom of a calf born just this week, realized the little one was not following her and, being a good mother, had to go back and communicate to the babe that she should follow!

This is the newest baby , which I named 'Autumn!' :) That name fits this little dark red calf born the first week of Autumn!

In this picture you see the new baby and behind her is the top bull, 'Big Daddy!' To the left of the baby is her mom,'High Point Lady!'
And here she is High Point again, enjoying the new grass!

Here you see 'Cloud' and her calf 'Pippi Long Stockings.' He's sure a fine looking guy...but will soon have to leave us! Charles says he'd be good for our freezer...but I say-"no-no-no!" I just couldn't do that! I know it makes no sense- but there you have it! That's just the way of Junie Rose! I can't eat calves I've named! If they are sold I can at least fantasize that they are spending out a long life in another farmer's pasture - and in some cases it's probably true! (Yah- right!)

Here is Pippi and another new calf, 'Stormy' that was born during one of the recent stormy days we had as a result of one of the hurricanes!

...and - speaking of 'Junie Rose' - here she is! She was so named - not because she looks like YOUR Junie Rose, but because she was born in June!
( well...maybe she does a little - except I have blonde hair! )

:)

This is 'Rush Baby!' He's a very fine, young bull who will soon have to leave us! I hope - and believe- he will end up as some farmer's # 1 bull of a big herd of cows!

(I believe!!)

I missed out on seeing that first sampling of the new grass... but I have to say I DID see a herd of very contented cows-and bulls - even a day into the new grazing grounds!

Here we are - the old folks of the farm - and some of our cows!

Belated Birthday for Charles ( just family stuff )

Well, we finally got together with the kids ( some of them, anyway) and celebrated Gabbo's birthday! (Gabbo=Grand dad) Only Tina and Alli were able to make it from up here.

We all met at Tam, Terry and Zach's house ( Orlando) about 1:00 today! They had a most delicious lunch waiting for us! We had 2 kinds of chicken wings, stuffed mushrooms, deviled eggs, chicken salad, fresh veggies and a really good sour cream dip for them....ummm... and some very tasty rolls! Everything was just perfect!

Zach and Alli, best friends and best cousins, hung out in Zach's room with his guitars and his collectibles!

Zach is into music and cameras in a big way! His latest music interest is Rick Wakeman of the progressive Rock band of the 70s- 'YES.' He had 2 LPs he had bought...He told me I should look up 'Wakeman' on Youtube... I plan to do that soon! Yes- I DO like the 'Yes' music that I have heard...but don't have any of Wakeman's solo work! Something new to explore! :) Thanks, Zach!

Zach's cool cat~ Mittens~ was here, too!

Here we are doing the birthday thing! Gabbo got some good things! That pretty plant was from the Orlando kids and the fancy Thermometer was the gift from Tina and Alli. All the other things were from me!...lol-All those T-shirts and those house slippers were much needed...the book is one of his favorite writers! (ok- MINE too!!) LOL- and the water lilies for the fish pond are from me, too! He got gifts from Chris (books and movies) early , because of our delayed celebration. He had a happy belated B'day today!

Our Chit-Chat around the table is always lively! :)

Another good day!

Gabbo was happy!

And - Me too!

Love,
Junie

2~27~08 (Gordon Lightfoot fans)

Just checking in to say 'hi' and let you know I'm still around. Not feeling great but better than I was. Now it seems I'm just fighting a regular type cold. My energy level is down~ both physically and mentally, so haven't felt like doing much of anything!
~~~
Yesterday was an interesting day for me. I received several emails from a Gordon Lightfoot Super Fan. She had found my site here when I posted recently on the Gordon Lightfoot concert which Charles and I attended.
When I say 'Super Fan' I am in no way exaggerating. This lady has been to about 60 concerts (if my memory serves) and has seen Mr. Lightfoot, backstage, many times. She sent me numerous pictures of Gordon, and of Gordon with her and friends, over a span of many years. She has also conducted a long interview with him, by phone. This, and so much more, is posted on this website/forum, where she serves as moderator. Gordon Lightfoot fans will find this site to be well worth a visit! I certainly did.
~~~

This is a Youtube some fans put together of the festival/tribute they have in Gordon's honor.
They get together (yearly, I believe) and play his music and just celebrate! This is held at Massey Hall in Toronto. This is a loyal fan club gathering known as 'The Net People' and managed by 'Char' of the above mentioned Fan forum! Click on this vid to go to youtube and read more about this gathering of fans ~ ALL Super Fans! :)

~~~
For myself~ it has been quite enjoyable~ getting back into the music of the wonderful, Gordon Lightfoot!
  (earlier today)
Hi Folks,
OK ~ I'm being lazy to link you to my last years New Years Eve posts,
but what the heck!
....Maybe something new and fresh will come up later! ;)
Meanwhile, just check this out!
~~~

If we do anything at all in celebration, today/tonight, it will probably be a ride in the evening to catch the sunset! We'll see what the day brings!

The kind of day I like- unplanned! :) If it's unplanned then there are more possibilities out there! ;)

Catch you later!

Catching up

Can't believe I missed a day without posting but I sure did!
What's the world coming to?

Truth is -yesterday was just a very uneventful day - all things considered.

The bright spot was that our Alli came up with her friend for a little while and they watched old home movies of when Alli, her brothers and cousin were little! They get a big kick out of doing that! :) I do too- usually- but I didn't watch with them , much, yesterday as I had a bad headache all day!

I even forgot to make a picture of the girls...so you know it wasn't the best of days for me!

I had another appt. with the doc today. My BP was good so this new prescription is working for me! Wish I could keep my BP good without the meds but I seem unable to do it, at this time!

Oh, well! You just do what you have to!

Coming back from the Dr.'s office we realized it was the day for the monthly luncheon/gathering with the retired policemen (from so. Fl) who have settled in our area. I dislike doing things unplanned - but , what the heck! I figured it wouldn't matter that much that I was having a bad hair day...or that I was tired and not feeling
so hot! LOL- ( Not that I ever feel OR look so hot, these days...) Anyway, we decided to go - with not a lot of time to get ready!

We did take a few pictures in our side yard - just for the record!
( haha-you know I must have our life in pictures...lol- for proof we were really here, maybe!)

Here are the old folks of the farm!

(...please excuse my squinty eyes...my eyes are very sensitive to sunlight and I usually wear my dark prescription glasses outside)

...And..I had spied this huge multi-roomed spider web at the edge of our front yard as we were leaving for the Dr. appt.- I barely had enough time to get a few pics before we left for lunch. Of course the pics fail to capture much of the web-which reached several feet in all directions...from power lines to bushes and even to the flag pole!
It was fascinating but most of it was high above me and I couldn't spray it with water to make the web show better! I
did get some good pics of one of the spiders! The body of this spider was about 2 inches long! LOL- I will post some of the original pics- and some that I played with on my picture program!
I think they are COOL!

( Click on the photos if you like yer spiders BIG!! haha )

~~~
On the ride down to the restaurant, and all the way back also, I was just enchanted with the beauty of the sky. It was that bluest of blue with clouds piled atop each other like whipped cream on an ice cream sundae! This was the scene in any direction I looked!
I must have remarked on the beauty of it all a half dozen times...or more! ;0 Charles is very patient with me-and lets me just ramble on and on about such things...
~~~

The luncheon was nice, tho a smaller number than some of our times! It was good to see everyone! I asked our waitress to take this picture of the group!

( hope some of the folks see the picture!)

That was our day...a day in the life!
