Midweek Blues~ Mar 21, 2012

~~~
~~~

This little girl sits in a corner of my unkempt garden- waiting for the birds, and perhaps wishing someone would pull the weeds around her.

 The plant behind her, with the small blue flowers, is probably considered to be a weed, as well. Still, I see beauty in this plant and I've kept it through the years.

Show me the flowers!!

~~~
Just show me the flowers!
These days, that's the quickest way to get a smile out of this old gal!
  Give me a fine, spring day and it's flowers and I am happy...no matter what else the day and times may hold for me!
Walk with me through this spring day!
 ~
I bought some more flowers yesterday and would have planted them today but had a dental appointment.  Here are some pictures of them and the way they cheered me up and made me smile...even as I was headed out for my appointment with the dentist!
Flowers-grand babies and music ~
 3 of God's greatest gifts...Oh, and LOVE, of course, but LOVE is a built in essential part of all these other things, so it's there in all the things you hold dear to your heart; and goes without saying!
~~
The late afternoon brought showers...
but it was just what these flowers wanted and needed.
Look at the happy smiles!
Watery Wednesday~August 19, 2010~ Watery Lily
~~~
It's Watery Wednesday!

Well, I'm a little late but I hope I can get this in!

Finally I have a water lily bloom in my pond-the first one this year!
I went out and got some pics. I love the water drops on the flower and the reflections and shadows in the pond ~ and the bright yellow color!  I think it's very beautiful-don't you?

Lol- This would have worked for several of the picture memes I like to do...
(yellow-shadows-reflections-flower)
  but I couldn't wait  and so am using it for

(Click on meme name to find other water posts!)

(Click on pictures to enlarge)

In this last pic the camera lens was fogged up with the humidity but I like the way it looks! :)
The other pic shows a bit more of the lily pads and pond.

I have fish in there but they quickly swam out of sight when I tried to get my pictures!

Ruby Tuesday ~ Sept !, 2009

~~~
~~~

It's Ruby Tuesday again!

Time to share the reds in our lives!

***Go here to find other red posts!***

This is a Ruby Red Hibiscus flower I saw recently at a garden shop here in our town!

It was a huge flower-much bigger than the ones I've grown in the past in south Florida!

I miss those flowers from the south Florida years. We had a lot of them - all colors!

They don't do as well here because of our colder winters, so I didn't buy this one.
I was tempted, though!

Camera Critters~ Aug 29, 2009

~~~
Time to share our
On any given day I may see dozens of these guys around our place ! (if not hundreds!)
They are everywhere ...even have been known to invade my house at times! I have found them, drowned, in my washing machine! :(
Yesterday my husband accidentally stepped on one as he walked out the front door ! :(
Here was one of the smart ones. He was just hanging out in the rose garden, eating bugs!!
LOL - I guess he knows he's pretty safe from traffic in there, amongst the overgrown weeds that no one is in a hurry to pull!
Welcome to north Florida! ;)
Blooms In The Rain
It's a dismal, drizzly, day here but I wanted to get out for a few moments to check on my late winter blooms around the yard! This time of year is a little depressing to me, with so much brown in the landscape; so these blooms are a cheery sight.
The red Camellias are in full bloom. I showed a couple of perfect red blooms in my Ruby Tuesday post this week. THIS picture is a shot of the 3 red bushes that I have, showing how abundantly they do bloom; also note the fallen blossoms around the bushes.
( click on pics to enlarge )
I only have one bush of this delicate pink Camellia and I'm sorry this picture is a little blurred.
It is just now coming into bloom- while the red ones have been blooming for awhile now.
Apparently these flowers each have their own time for blooming because a neighbor brought me these blooms below from his place, at least 3 weeks ago.
There are many colors/varieties/sizes of these flowers! Some of these were really spectacular-in color and in size!
The Azaleas are starting to bloom, too. When they are fully bloomed out they are a solid blanket of pink, with barely a bit of the green leaves showing! We have a long, double line of these and they put on quite a show! :)
And here are a couple of early blossoming trees-the Wild Plum, with white blooms and the Red Bud, with pink blooms!
I love all these early blooming plants but they all have very short blooming times!
:) However, they serve to get me in the mood for more flowers to come in Spring and Summer!
Enjoy!
Of Fairies and such!
I visited Pea
at Pea's Corner and I found out that today is FAIRY DAY!
Please visit Pea to find out more!
Fairies seem to hang out at Pea's place a lot. I saw several while I was there today! I bet they are still there!
Do you like fairies? I do!
Get your free fairy name here!
~~~ Utt-ohh! Seems my Fairy is TROUBLE!
She must hang out with that mysterious little Gnome lady I have seen in my gazing balls.

~~~
(This is the info they give on my Fairy)
"Your fairy is called Tangle Saturnglow
She is a trouble maker.
She lives at the bottom of tangled gardens and in hedgerows.
She is only seen in the light of a full moon.
She wears tangled dresses of multicoloured petals. She has delicate pale pink wings like a cicada."
~~~

I have no doubts of her being there among my tangled garden. Just last night I was out very late, with my camera - moon gazing- and got a glimpse of those pink wings. In a flash she was hidden from my view and all I was able to get for evidence was this little part of her wings on one side! However~ this picture speaks for itself; don't you agree? She's there!

I DO wonder what sort of trouble, 'Tangle Saturnglow' is likely to cause me!

I'll not worry before it's time, though!

My new specs

Today I got my new glasses!

Wish I could say I 'see' a big change in my vision... Truth is - I don't!

Oh- maybe there's a tiny bit of improvement, but not enough to brag about!

Ha! But at least they are not falling apart! At least they will stay on my face!

The 'shades' look very dark, but they don't seem dark when being worn! I like both pairs ok, as far as the way they look- and, at least I can see a bit better with them!

I'll get by!

~~~
We have a lot going on here at the present time...
For one- we are doing a lot of improvements on our small rental house; new kitchen cabinets and counter tops, new flooring- and there will need to be some painting done, too!
Our son wants to rent the place. He's getting excited about having his own place again, as he's been here with us for awhile. (since his divorce)
~~~

Also, we are having new counter tops made for
our house! They will be those new counters that look like marble. ( but aren't!) I can't think of the name but it's very popular and used a lot these days- in new homes!

I have never been happy with my kitchen here- mainly because of this high brick wall separating my kitchen from the nook area!

Our builder bungled everything up on this house. We were in Miami at the time the house was being built and had limited contact with the builder as the house was going up! ( I , especially, had little input on the way things came together) I DID want this brickwork in the kitchen...but I had in mind a counter on top of it....NOT this high brick wall! I showed the man a picture of how I wanted it to look! This is NOT what I wanted at all!

The sink is behind the brick, with our eating area on the side you see here.

We plan to take the brick down level with the sink, for the new counter top. We will be removing the first 2 rows of brick! (I will not have a back splash for the sink but I can deal with that better than having this wall that I can barely see over!) Although this counter won't be serviceable as a sit down counter, I will at least have a little space to pass dishes over, or to set them on , when we eat or have coffee at the nook table!

LOL- I feel I'm not explaining this very well...

This picture is the side with the longest counter and we are going to extend this on to the door way, just past the table in the pic. The continuation of the counter here will be a sit down area , level with the rest of the counters , where we can have a bar stool. I will use this for the phone area- and remove the table I have there now!

This picture shows where we will have to remove the brick! The other one is where the sink is- and these 2 brick posts are opposite each other, leading into the nook area. The sink wall is the shorter part of an L shape with the longer part where my stove is!

My attempts at explaining all this I know are confusing but I'm sure you can look at the pictures and get an idea of how much work is involved!

Charles plans to drill into the mortar to remove the unwanted bricks! He thinks it won't be too awfully hard! I hope he's right about that!

I'm excited about all this! It's something I've wanted to do for a long time...make this kitchen more appealing!

I DO love the brick...just not the way the guy used them!

~~~
Here are some scenes of our Crepe Myrtles, which are in bloom now! Charles loves these plants and at last count I think his # of plants was around 50! :)
Here is a visitor I had in my side yard yesterday!
I didn't try to get close to him but zoomed in with the camera!
Hope you've all had a good day!
